Give me the good and bad. Ds is due for an upgrade and it's just a .99 cost to upgrade (that's phone cost.... $40 upgrade fee) Other iPhone are $100 and up. Just want to be sure it's worth it to get a 5c?

Personally I wouldn't do it. It is behind by two full models and will be three in the fall. But that's just me. It might be fine for him.

We got the 5c for my mom initially; by the time we upgraded to the newest iOS, there was no space! We returned it and she has a 32gb 5s that she loves.

I just went from the 5 to the 6. I can see a big difference. I also got the case that doesn't have any space between the screen and your finger so it probably seems 100% better just because of that.

Thanks. Just weighing options. He may save his birthday money this week and get a 5s instead

How old is he? If he is an older teen he may want to just save for the 6. It depends on how much he needs to use it for school. Our dd needed her phone to work in class starting when she was a freshman.

Will be 16 Sunday. Doesn't need it for school...keeps all his music on his tablet.

I'd encourage him to save for the 6. It will be another couple of years before he can upgrade. He is older and I'm betting his music will soon be on his phone as that's what teens do.
