After 20 years, my dishwasher is having issues. I hate the idea of searching for a new one. I haven't been wowed by any I have looked at for the last year or so.
So, what do you have? Love it? Hate it? Best feature? Irritating issue?
This one is run on average twice a day. Sometimes it is ran 4 times. So, I am definitely looking for a work horse.
Thank you in advance for the help.

We just replaced our dishwasher and got a Bosch. We'd had General Electric dishwashers before. They used to be great but after a terrible experience with the last one we did a lot of research and found that the Bosch got great reviews all around. We've only had it a few weeks but so far we love it. I love the 3rd rack for small things. It just feels so much more sturdy and well made compared to the last GE. And it's quiet and cleans perfectly.
forgot to add that we use ours at least twice a day.

Kenmore Elite with stainless steel interior here....10 years old and runs great!
When shopping for a new one watch for "Heated Dry". lots of the new ones don't have that anymore.

I believe it's a GE that we bought at Sears. we've had it 5 years and no problems. we replaced a very old one that was so loud you couldn't hold a conversation in the kitchen.

The dishwasher in our new house is a frigidaire. We haven't used it yet. but our square dinner plates fits in it so we are liking that. Our old dishwasher was so small we had to wash our dinner plates by hands.

We got a Bosch and love it. Our old one (forgot the brand) was loud and half the time did not clean properly even if the traps were clean and the washer was half full. This Bosch is whisper quiet and cleans so well. Love it.

I do love my dishwasher, very much. It is a 'Mr. Percy' brand and works quite well, except for slopping water onto the floor in front of the sink and doing a piss poor job of wiping it up. But hey, a little water on the floor beats my having to do the dishes. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

We have this one by Kenmore Elite and love it. I'd highly recommend it. That's the newer version of the one I have and been very happy with mine. My mom has the one linked, and she loves it too. Edited because the grammar I had originally used was embarrassing.

Our new house has a Frigidaire Professional one in it. It is the quietest dishwasher I've ever heard (or not heard), has a stainless interior, and the dishes have been really clean and sparkly. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ?

Bosch 800 plus series
Looove it.
Went through two Kenmores and one Kitchenaid in 7 years. The kitchenaid leaked and ruined our new floor.
Just bought the Bosch because it has four leakage barriers. Also bought the extended warranty this time.
Great features and soooooo quiet.

Just typed out a long post on the kitchen remodel thread and thought I would add the part about the dishwasher here so anyone searching in the future would find it. Hope it might help someone else.
I replaced the old dishwasher with a new top of the line Bosch one and it is the best dishwasher I have ever owned. It costs more than most, but I think it is worth it as it holds so much more. This one has the 3rd rack on top with the adjustable tray which can be lowered a little on the sides. On the top rack I can put small one cup pyrex bowls, measuring cups, plastic lids, stove burner handles, spatulas, all sharp knives, etc. Because the rack is so close to the top of the dishwasher the stuff doesn't fly around.
The middle rack is height adjustable and has tines that go up and down making it easier to put different sized stuff in from load to load. It has flip down pieces to keep plastic items in place or to hold wine glasses.
The bottom rack also has adjustable tines and a silverware basket that can be taken apart into 2 pieces. This saves a lot of room as we usually only need one rack for silverware. The silverware basket is also made to go in almost any spot on the bottom rack so it is possible to put a cookie sheet, baking pan, or serving bowl along the right side where the silverware basket would go and put the silverware basket along the row where plates can go. The basket is cut out at the bottom to allow the tines to fit under it.
I was worried about Bosch not having a drying element, but it hasn't been a problem. Most stuff dries without it. I do sometimes have to put plastic containers on a towel on the counter to dry off for a few minutes, but I don't mind that. The advantage of not having a drying element is I can put plastic containers in the bottom rack and they never melt.
This dishwasher also has a bottle holder that can quickly be put in or out and holds a water bottle, vase, etc. upright to be washed.
My dishwasher also has a water softening unit in the bottom. You add salt to it occasionally (I order it on Amazon) and it helps with hard water. It does not have a food grinder which I was worried about, but it has a really easy to take out and rinse off filter in the bottom. I only do that once a month or so and there really isn't a lot on it. We scrape the dishes before loading them, but I only rinse off the plates if it is something really sticky like rice.

We have a Viking and love it! We chose one with a grinder and a heating element; 2 full racks with tons of adjustable features, plus a third side tray and break apart silverware holder. Like most machines these day, it's super quiet.
With that said, prepare yourself for a lot of changes in the dishwasher, no matter what brand you choose. We went from a 15 year old model to the Viking. Government standards have really degraded the overall performance of these machines. Even with a dryer, the dishes are not 100% dry. Also, a full cycle now takes hours longer (lower water usage - so more swishing time - longer drying periods, etc).
I suggest prioritizing the features you need and shop in order of priority for your household.

I posted about the dishwasher that came with our new house on this thread originally. It has most of the features that others mention enjoying - stainless tub, adjustable tines and racks, food grinder, etc. - but the dishes aren't completely dry even after the heated dry cycle completes, and it does seem to take a long time. It really does do a great job of cleaning, though, and I love that it's so quiet I can run it any time of day.

I have had a cheap Beko for over 4 years now and it's the best I have had ( I've had Bosch amongst others in the past.) it cleans better than any of my previous machines, uses a lot less salt and even if it died tomorrow, it's only cost me £45 for each year of the convenience of owning it.

We have had three different dishwashers within a month. First two were Bosch. The first Bosch made horrible sounds, like screaming and the dish rack would fly out of the machine, full or not, it just would not stay in the machine so we returned it since it appeared possessed. The second Bosch leaked, well more like a waterfall from under the door so we returned that and gave up on Bosch. We went with a Kitchenaid since that is what before and it was over 20 years old before it died. The model we choose had good reviews, tons more space and features than the Bosch and almost half the price. So far vey happy, do not hear it running, the racks stay put and dishes look great.

My advice: never buy a Samsung. I have one and it's a piece of crap. I will never buy a Samsung product again in my life, mainly because their customer service sucks.

Ouch- I just bought a samsung washing machine! I can only hope it's a well made one that doesn't require me contacting customer service any time soon! I did have a beautiful samsung American style fridge freezer for over 10 years that I absolutely loved and had no problems with, and several of my friends have the washing machine I just bought and have had no problems for a couple of years ( they paid over £200 more than I did because it isnt the Latest model anymore.)

I have to love mine. One is a dedicated hot hot water user washes everything in sight, but takes forever to do the job
The other only washes a few things but will put away all the clean dishes.
Neither will put away the flat ware.

Ours is a GE Proflie stainless steel with hidden controls. We put it in when we built this house in 2004. It is SILENT when it runs. I love it! However, Just this past week it's started making a humming fan type of sound after the cycle is done and the dishes are drying. My DH needs to dig into the guts of it and see if he can figure out what is going on. It's a $1200 dishwasher! He better be able to fix it! Otherwise, we will be getting another of the same style. It's a workhorse. I don't prewash my dishes, I scrape the chunks off and in they go. It's a great dishwasher!
