First call had my full name and left a message saying they needed to ask if I had a address for my friend Amber Rue. (I don't have any friends with that name) I figured it was collections from a bill that may have gotten overlooked from my surgery and they were just making an excuse for me to naively call them back. I called them back immediately and it took them a few minutes but they finally asked if I knew where my friend Amber Rue was and if I had an address for her. I told them I had never heard of that name and that was the end of the conversation.
Second phone call asked for my daughter. Said she was so and so and wanted to talk ask my daughter a questionnaire about what she has been doing since she dropped out of high school. My daughter didn't drop out of high school. I kept asking questions, she said it was a questionnaire to find out if my daughter has gotten a job, more education.... Finally I said that I wasn't sure where they had gotten that information but my daughter hadn't dropped out and she just finished her Sophomore year. I regret giving her any personal info.
Weird! Jen

That is weird. Definitely think they were phishing for information!

That is weird. Those types of calls are why I never answer my phone if I don't recognize the number. It's annoying that they keep calling back though.

I have had military recruiters call and ask about HS aged kids especially right at the end of HS.
If it was really a collection call for someone else, from what I undertstand collection law only allows them to call you once.

I've been getting calls from a pay day loan collection company for DH, who has never had one, saying that he has an outstanding acct and they want to discuss it and they want me to verify his SSN before they will tell me more.
Yeah, ok. Click!

We make calls like the second one from school when a student was in special ed but it's always after their first year after graduation or dropping out. Sometimes it's the workability person who calls and sometimes it's me. We call at this time of year. The state requires us to find out if the student is working or going to college.

watch your credit report. And more importantly, pull your daughter's credit report and keep an eye on it for fraudulent use.

Our information was stolen from Turbo Tax and people used our names for filing a tax return. Ugh. Now we're getting calls about other things concerning $. Technology can be a pain in the arse.

Yeah, ok. Click! Hahahahahahahaha! People must fall for it. Give them a random set of numbers like 007 07 0007.

Thanks for the reminder about not giving out your personal information.
This is one of the reasons I only have a cell phone.
