Our boys have had enough and begged to go home. So they are home with SIL a phone call away. We are staying a few more days. A big portion of our town is still without power so I think that may be part of it. But Fred is scared to leave. He had a panic attack this morning thinking about it. The only place he was willing to leave here for is the hospital. He hates the hospital and doesn't need to be there now. he calmed down once he realized he didn't have to go anywhere but I had the dr call in a script for Xanax. That helped relax him more.
We had an appt scheduled with a nutritionist. We had to cancel 3 times. His mom has been on top of us about this because she thinks this is going to save his life. Meanwhile she is smothering me and putting Fred into a panic about Leaving. The lady has been so nice. She agreed to a house call and is coming tomorrow.

All that you are going through sounds so exhausting, but you are holding up and managing it all so well. I hope you get a break soon.

Anyone who thinks jenjie and her family have earned a long vacation raise your hand? I don't know if I mentioned this but friends have arranged for us to have a week vacation. That is supposed to be in several weeks.

I'm just putting one foot in front of the other. "Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

jenjie, I am so glad you have some wonderful support so close by. This thread has me sitting here crying like a baby. It makes me realize that if my family were in this type of situation all of our support is hours away. I hope you can get some much needed rest. Hugs

Oh, Jenjie, I am sorry for all you and your family have to bear right now. I am thankful you have family, friends and neighbors who are able to give you tangible help right now. I hope you know you not only have those physically close to you lending you emotional support, but a community of RefuPeas who are here for you as well! I am glad your DH is safe and comfortable right now, I hope you are able to take some time to sleep and rest yourself. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Exactly this. I am awed by your strength and perseverence. I am praying for you, Fred and your family. I don't know if it will make a difference now but I heard they (the doctors) were moving towards not prescribing long lasting oxycotin because of the trouble patients have with it ( side effects like you mentioned), and instead prescribing oxycodone. I am NOT a doctor-just thought I'd mention it, since you were talking about Fred's side effects. I was recently prescribed oxycodone after minor surgery on Wednesday. Sending Fred healing thoughts and your family smooth sailing fron here on out. Take care of yourself and rest, Debbie in MD.

Stories like this serve to remind us that there are so many more good people in the world than bad. Hard to remember with the news picking up every bad story there is all the time. God bless you, your family, and your friends as you take this journey together.

You know when I read things like this, I realize how much I take for granted in my life. The love and admiration that your family, friends and neighbors have for you and your family always comes through in your posts. I am glad that your family has a nice place to stay for a few days. Talk about perspective. I try to relay my appreciation for the people in my life and you Point out a different POV. Thank you.

We changed where we hang our hats, so to speak, probably 8 years ago. If we hadn't I am under no illusion that it would be a totally different scenario.

Glad you checked in. Hope you are able to go home soon! And now another storm blew in. You sure have weathered some challenging storms. Hang in there! Oh my! It wasn't that bad of a storm but we were praying power didn't go out here! Although they have a generator and we have portable oxygen it would have been devastating even if it was just a few seconds. He was already beginning to panic. The other side of town did lose power but thank God not here. In the meantime ds16 was home alone and got mad that I had a friend take him home with her for MY mental well being. Today has been such a hard day I don't need something else to stress about. Today Fred slept all day, got mad when I tried to get him to eat, drink, keep oxygen tube in place and try to get him to use portable oxygen to get him off the couch and maybe closer to the door. I'm being too demanding. I'm tired. Make that sick and tired, to quote Mama Cosby. I'm battle weary.
