I have AT&T cell service — I’ve been satisfied for all the years I’ve had them. Now I see TV ads that say Sprint can “cut my bill in half”. Yesterday I saw a TV ad that says I can get 5 family lines with unlimited talk and text with 20 g shareable data of $100.00 per month.
Which would be GREAT - a 33% savings from what I currently pay — and maybe lose my land line for a dedicated mobile line for business ..
But … it is Sprint … a company that I’ve never believed had very good cell service. Even tho I live in the same metropolitan area as Spring HQ. I understand that some of my information might be years old!
Does anyone have experience with Sprint cell service? I’d appreciate hearing what you know about Sprint cell service — as as aid to helping me make a decision!

I've had Sprint for years. I get good service most of the time at home, but when I go up north to the cottage or to visit my in-laws, service is very spotty. But, both of those places are in very small towns. That is the only issue that I have with their service. The service that my friend gets with AT&T up there is similar to what I get with Sprint.
Check their coverage map for your area.

I agree with magentapea - I had good coverage in the city (Minneapolis), but horrible at my parent's home up north. Also, Sprint did what was supposed to be an upgrade and I had a whole summer I couldn't make or receive a call in my own home. They didn't care...just said I had to be patient. Yeah, no. We switched to AT&T and are much happier. I get service everywhere.

Thanks for the info! I look at the coverage maps ... but frankly, I don't think they really mean anything! I also need to really look at the terms of the "cut in half" claim as well as the newer claims of 5 lines with 20 g data. That just seems a bit "incredible"!!

Years ago, I had trouble with Sprint service at my parents' home in the Midwestern suburbs (it was fine here in the city), but I haven't had any trouble at all for a long time. I travel to conferences around the country - service is not an issue.
I would check a coverage map if you spend a lot of time in remote locations.

We switched from Verizon to t-mobile. No issues, bill is less than half of what it was, 5 lines $110. Unlimited talk, text and data, although data slows after a certain amount. We haven't seen that yet though so maybe we're not data hogs. Also free text and unlimited data when we travel internationally which for us is a fabulous perk. No international data plans or extra charges.

When we go fishing the Verizon phones are the only ones that get service. We always end up sending those phones with people when they head out. This is not commercial fishing off the coast of Alaska, just off the coast of Washington.
We have also heard the same while camping.

I had Sprint for 15yrs and was driving up and down the east coast for a lot of them years, I never once had issues. When I moved to Pa I started finding spots that were dead not surprising because of the mountains here. So I got on a family plan with DH with AT&T and we have ok service. He gets bad signal at work and depending on where we are driving as well. I also hate their customer service.

I've been with Sprint for 2 years. I have very few problems with service. They're contracted with other major carriers to use their towers. DH has AT&T for work. He can't use his phone in our home office.

I just switched from At&t to Sprint a few days ago. I was locked into At&t because they were the only providers who had descent service in the small town I ended up moving to for a while. I hated them. Their customer service was bad, every time I went into the store to do something They were relentless in upselling etc. Then somehow my bill jumped up to over 200 bucks out of the blue. Sprint is paying my termination fees and the cost of my phone from AT&T and my bill has been cut even lower than half with the plan I am now on. So far I haven't seen a difference in service at all. At this point Im very happy but its only been a few days

When my sister worked for Sprint Cellular she would have to leave her building to talk on her cell phone. She said the parking lot was always full of Sprint people talking on their cell phones!
there is a app you can use to see the strength of cell coverage in different areas of the US. I can't remember it but it is worth checking out.. I used it when I moved here and I am glad I did. I often have service when my friends with AT&T or US Cellular don't
