With all of our dog trauma, it took a while to finally go, but we went fishing this morning with our neighbor at a lake in Clifton. It was a beautiful morning - not too hot. Ds#2 caught his first fish within 5 minutes. Each of the boys caught 2 fish a piece - sunfish and largemouth bass - and I caught a Crappie. Mine was the biggest fish, still not very big, so all went right back in the lake. By 10:30 it was warming up and the fish stopped biting. We gave it one more hour and then headed home after a picnic lunch. All in all a successful first fishing trip: worms were threaded on hooks, fish were caught and released, no one got hurt and everyone had fun!

That is so cool. I used to love to fish with my grandparents.

Thanks for sharing the photos, I'm glad you had fun. Will you be going again elaine Oh yes! Now that we have the gear it is much less expensive entertainment for the boys in the summer than bowling or the movies. Worms are only a couple of bucks!

I hope you make many more great fishing memories together. Thanks for the great update.

Jo, OMG! That baby looks tasty! What a catch. I wish we lived closer and I'd hire him to be my fishing guru. I am envious that it looks cool where he is - the heat index had us hovering around 100 yesterday and today - no fishing for us until it becomes more reasonable.

He's visiting my parents in Newfoundland (my dad's behind him filleting) and it's pretty cold there now. Sadly, I'm stuck in the heat like you. The fish is cod - they caught 23 lbs of fillets that day. The season is really good this year - they haven't come in yet without their limit of 15 fish and they usually get that within an hour.

We went fishing again this morning - it was just a quick trip - we only fished for a couple hours. I caught a sunfish and a bluegill that I threw back.
I'm finding it very relaxing.
