I actually really like your take on the sketch and I love the colour combo.
Is there an embellishment or technique that you would normally have on your layouts that is missing this time? What if you matted the photo? Or it looks like you have stitching around the white cardstock, could you bring that in across the bunting but in a coloured thread?

You did a really nice job following the sketch. Your eye is immediately drawn to the photo. You nailed that banner, something I can't quite seem to master.
Now, to me, what is missing is pattern paper to break up the starkness of the white background. But then again that's me. Pattern paper is my thing. If you do not feel comfortable using lots of pattern paper, perhaps just a small strip of ripped or punched pp at the top and bottom of the page would really add a "punch" of something to the layout. Just a suggestion of course.

Thank you for the ideas ! I will try to see what else I can add on to it. It's always hard for me to have just 1 picture and a lot of white all around it.

I love your layout. The colors are great and that banner is so well done. I struggle with those. I agree that the eye goes right to the photo and then to the journaling.
I like the ideas mentioned above, but I also like the clean and classy look the way it is.
