You know what, I will most definitely join you!
I am in the exact same boat as you. I have clothes from last summer that are too tight and I am not buying new ones, it's not happening.

I will be 44 in July and also have the clothes-too-tight-from last year problem. I love sugar, I really love it and I don't plan on permanelty deleted it from my life so I don't want to go cold turkey. In the past I was successful by seriously restricting my intake - I would allow myself one small portion in the evening if I had met my workout goal for the day. After awhile sometimes I just chose to skip the sugar. But I need to know it is available to me. So I'd be in for a serious sugar reduction if you all will have me!

I will give it a try. I may not give it up entirely but I want to be mindful of when I grab for something and realize how much sugar it has and how bad it is for me. It will be too hard for me to give up all sugar with my other dietary restrictions. It shouldn't be too hard to give up a lot because I crave fresh fruit this time of year.

I have been doing Trim Healthy Mama for just over a month (the plan cuts out sugars as well as most grains pastas.) I have lost just over 10 lbs (I didn't have much to loose to 10 lbs is actually at my goal weight already) in that time and more importantly lost inches from my weight. I had been trying several other healthy eating / diets / giving up sugars with no success. This plan while a little complicated at first really works and I really don't crave sugar any more. In fact when I do have a sweet treat it seems WAY to sweet. Anyway, I know you didn't ask for other resources, but I just wanted to let you know what was working for me and it is possible to quit sugar.

Well I won't commit to no sugar but I'll give up peanut M&M's for July. They're my weakness.

I will attempt to join in with lessening my starchy carbs intake. Sugar is not an issue for me overall, pasta is another story.

I really want to join but I don't know if I'll be able to! I'm going to try though....I'm in! I will allow myself fruit too, especially since there's so much delicious fruit in season right now. And who are we kidding? I didn't get fat eating too many peaches!

It's summer vacation. The kids are home all day from school. If I did this now, somebody would die!

My kids are away for the summer. I'm starting whole 30 while they're gone to figure out some food allergies/intolerances and kick start what hopefully becomes a lifestyle without sugar.

You have done really well considering those last 10 are the hardest to lose! I have that book but I haven't read through it all yet. Do you eat recipes mostly from the book? I like the concept of reducing carbs/sugars without completely giving up grains, but I haven't wrapped my head around the no combining protein and fat with carbs.

I'll try to post every Monday in July to see how we're doing, and if I forget, someone feel free to chime in! I stepped away from the pop tart box this morning (we usually don't have those around but the grandparents brought them , and I love them) and made a smoothie instead. I should probably warn dh & the kids to tiptoe around me for the next several days .

I have a friend who has done a few rounds of this and loves it. She didn't need to lose any weight, but her bad allergy symptoms have almost completely gone away, and she says she has a ton of energy. I do notice that the joints in my fingers get achy if I eat a lot of bread/ pasta etc, and I get some sinus issues, so it will be interesting to see if reducing them helps that. That's great that it works for her too. I've done it before and felt amazing. I do have weight to lose, but that's really beside the point when you're feeling wonderful.

I'm up for seriously reducing the amount of processed sugar I eat. I do LOVE summer fruits and I know how my body handles that kind of natural sugars. It's the highly processed sugar that leaves me feeling bloated and even shaky. Sadly, as I was opening this thread I was popping a few dark chocolate M&Ms in my mouth. No time like the present I guess.

I would like to do this. I started running but feel my health would benefit with a better diet. I have a serious sweet tooth but being accountable will help. I don't even have a specific weakness plus I do the grocery shopping so it should be easy peasy (eye roll! Lol)

I do use several recipes from the book, but also there are tons of recipes on pinterest if you just search THM. I had tried for years to get rid of the last 10 lbs I was trying to loose and it has seriously just come off easily with this new way of eating. Prior to this I was working out and getting discouraged that I was gaining weight rather than loosing it. The rules of not combing certain carbs and fats seems really overwhelming, but once you get the hang of it, it really is second nature.

If you are considering giving up sugar (and artificial sugar) but just can't find the motivation- go watch FED UP.
The food industry has a whole lot of control about our feelings of addiction to sugar

Day 2 with no sugar! Yesterday I threw away DS's half eaten waffle cone and today I declined the warm homemade chocolate chip cookies at work. One day at a time!

I do 20 grams of carbs a day, allowing some days up to 30 but that's rare. I haven't had a piece of bread, potato, rice, beans or pasta in about 12 weeks now. I have lost over 26 lbs and feel fantastic.

I started one month ago cutting out most sugar and a lot of carbs. I am down about 8 lbs. I was scheduled to have a partial knee replacement on June 3rd, but the pretesting showed my A1C was higher than it should be so I could not be cleared for surgery.
I have been on medication for few weeks and testing once daily (one day morning, next day bed time) and am doing pretty well. Have not had any ice cream, candy, bagels, English muffins and many other processed foods. Have increased 1 hour water aerobics from 3 to 5 times per week. Hopeful that when I have the next blood work done in 2 months, it will be in the normal range so I can proceed with surgery.
Good luck to everyone doing the challenge. It is not an easy feat.

No peanut M&M's for me in 48 hours. DH had a handful and I was jealous but I didn't fall off the wagon. Don't laugh, this is HUGE for me.

My heart was breaking for some of those kids in the movie.

I gave up sugar almost a year ago. I eat dessert maybe twice a month/on special occasions. I was a crazy sugar addict and don't really miss it that much. I read Fat Chance and am pretty convinced sugar is poison, so I try to limit it as much as possible.

I'll do it. I cut out sugar, bread, pasta, and rice about a year ago and it went really well. Then I had one illness after another, the holidays happened, then more illnesses and then a really close family member passed away. I was so stressed and diet was the last thing on my mind. About two months ago I started exercising every day and I feel better but I really need to get my eating habits under control.

I want to join! I've actually been doing this about four weeks and so far it's going pretty well. I've been going to the gym four days a week and I am down nine pounds. I'd like to lose another 15 pounds.
