I just saw it linked on Facebook. Watched it then made sure to double-check my planner to be sure I'd written down the right date. Not sure why I would doubt myself since I've checked it more than once in the past month or so!

Yes! And it's awesome, although the age threw me.

Really looking forward to this. I've seen several previews already. As a side note my son went to ComiCon in London this weekend and now has signed photos from Colin Baker and Paul McGann. I am so jealous!

We don't get BBC either so it's going to be an extra long wait. Hopefully Hulu will pick it up quickly.
I have my doubts about this Dr. And I'm not a huge fan of Clara. So I'm not as excited about this season as I usually am.

So I'm not as excited about this season as I usually am. I'm also not "feeling" this doctor yet, either. I'm hoping watching him in a full episode will change my mind. I'm not a huge fan of Clara either. But I do love Doctor Who, and am excited about the new season.

I've not been a huge fan of Clara either. I'm hoping it was just mismatched chemistry between her and Matt Smith. I thought there were a few episodes last series where they nailed it, but for the most part, I was not a fan of the last series. I'm hoping there is better chemistry between Clara and the Doctor now. We shall see, I suppose!

We are ready. My daughter really loved Matt and David she's not excited about this '"old" dr. I'm hoping she changes her mind once the story continues.

I don't mind Clara so much, but I have grave doubts about Peter Capaldi playing the Doctor. However, it took some time for Matt Smith to grow on me and then I ended up loving him in the role, so I'll give this man a shot.

I saw it! Can't wait.
I'm beyond passed off at my husband though. He wanted to show me a "fan done Doctor Who." Those were his words! I started watching and it's an unfinished preview for a critic of the first episode! OMG! I am so mad at him. He spoiled all of amazing build up and anticipation of trailers coming out and countdowns. I had him pause it when the opening credits started and I began grilling him. I left the room. He knows I'm still annoyed and it's been since Saturday. Arg!

I had massive doubts about Peter Capaldi at first, mostly due to his history in Doctor Who and Torchwood (which is going to be explained along the way apparently), but I think he's going to be excellent. I'm really looking forward to a darker, less warm and fuzzy Doctor.

I've always really enjoyed Clara. Sure she's a step down from Amy and Rory, but then anyone would be. They were huge shoes to fill. She's cute and clever and was given some great lines. She and the Doctor had some great episodes together. Netflix just barely got in the last half of season seven a month or so ago, so we have a very long wait until we get to see season eight and even then I'm told we won't be getting the change over episode or The Day of the Doctor. My local PBS affiliate was showing Doctor Who on Saturday nights but just barely replaced it with another stupid police procedural (but this one is British! and it has women detectives! gah!) In other words: it will be ages before i see season eight and that makes me sad.

I'm really looking forward to a darker, less warm and fuzzy Doctor. I guess that's what's bothering me the very most: I WANT a warm and fuzzy Doctor! Peter Capaldi seems so cold and has a ruthlessness about him. I like that The Doctor of late have seemed to have a true goodness about them, a desire to do the right thing, and to be good people (aliens?) I like that they fall in love even when they don't want to, and are gentlemen, and are cute for goodness sakes. (sorry Peter Capaldi fans - I'm not into his look)

I miss the warm and fuzzy, but really (since the reboot), only one was actually warm and fuzzy (DT). CE was short-tempered, MS was a dork. With the exception of "Vincent and The Doctor" and "The Doctor's Wife", the majority of his episodes were completely forgettable. IMHO!!!!! lol
I would love to see a movie, feature-length in theaters, starring John Hurt.

I'm excited! Although it will be some time for me as I don't have BBC America (no cable). I don't absolutely love Clara, but perhaps it was a chemistry-thing with Matt Smith. I wasn't too sure about him at first, but he really grew on me. As did David Tennant! Now I can't imagine *not* loving David Tennant as The Doctor. So, it may take some time, but I have faith that I will love Capaldi before too long. And lilacgal? I saw it! Can't wait. I'm beyond passed off at my husband though. I thought I was ready for the new doctor. But then I decided to get into the BBC's "Three Musketeers" series. If you haven't seen it, Capaldi plays the Cardinal. He's devious and evil and all sorts of slimy. So now I have that version of Capaldi in my head. Ugh.

The original incarnations of the Doctor were not always warm and fuzzy. Tom Bakers Doctor especially had a ruthlessness about him, he could be cruel and cold but people loved his portrayal. I don't think showing a darker side to the Doctor will detract from the appeal of the show nor do I think it will prevent him from doing good things either. I don't see what being 'cute' has to do with anything!

He got to meet both Matt Smith and Karen Gillan and got autographs from both. He also did the photo op with Matt Smith. He was sooooo nice to my son and my son has the biggest, goofy smile on his face in the picture. Tell your daughter that if Matt Smith is going to give a presentation/panel, she needs to get to the exhibit hall where that takes place early. If it weren't for MrNiceGuy saving us seats by sitting through several earlier panels, we would not have gotten in to hear Matt Smith.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship? were we watching the same show? I totally get David Tennant being your favorite. He's an amazing actor and brought a lot of depth to the character. However, i wouldn't characterize MS episodes as being "forgettable." I have actually enjoyed seeing how each actor changes The Doctor making him an almost entirely new person. Each one brings something different to the table.
