Love Tahoe! We go several times a year. Weather will be warm And perfect. I like the north shore - and the area around Tahoe city and Tahoma. Grab lunch on the lake at Sunnyside!

Where will you be staying?
Nights will be cool so bring jacket/pants. Day are warm to hot, check the weather. Our Family cabin is close to the mountain side so for us the sun "sets" early.
It is beautiful in the summer!

DD lives there. Are you going to South Shore or North Shore? It also depends on the age group you are taking up there.

Isn't it funny what we remember...we went on a boat tour of the lake and had Mark Twain giving a speech! He was pretty good! I was really bold and asked to have my pic taken with him...don't have it right now, though, we didn't have digi cameras then.

It should be absolutely lovely then! I haven't been in a number of years but we loved the north shore, Tahoe City area. We also loved an area called Sand Harbor in Nevada - huge boulders in the shallow turquoise water, a nice beach - wonderful area!

It's lovely there! Bring a light sweater or jacket for evening.

You'll love it, it's so beautiful. Restaurants in the South Shore close to the casinos are not great, but away from the Casinos and you'll find some great places to eat. The weather will be amazing. Rent a boat and spend a day on the lake. Take the gondola to the top of Heavenly. So many places to hike.

Heaven! Its been way too long since I have been back. When I lived in No. California it was a quick weekend trip. Weather should be wonderful, but as others have said bring a light jacket for evenings. Take a boat tour of the lake if you have never been before.

Take the aerial tram up to Heavenly! Gorgeous views of the lake all the way up, and when you get to the top you can see over in to NV - starkly different view! When you get to the top and the tram lets off, you can then take a ski lift all the way to the top - definitely do that! So worth it! And you WILL need a warm jacket for that. At least we did last July. Very windy up there. There is also a restaurant up top - salads, burgers, sandwiches. Lots of good places at the bottom too.

The north shore of Lake Tahoe is the most beautiful, peaceful spot on earth. At least, it is at sunset, from the deck of our place there, with a cocktail in hand. We sold it several years ago and I haven't been back since. So my knowledge is outdated. But there's a wonderful mix of nature/outdoor activities and casinos/nighttime activities if you count the entire lake. The north shore is more unspoiled and relaxing. You can drive up there from Stateline in about an hour.

I wish I could say I'd been there more than once because it was gorgeous. I got married there 20 years ago. So pretty!

If you have a car, drive around the lake ~ it will take a day with all the places you'll want to stop. Like Lucy said, the north shore is gorgeous. The water is so crystal clear and the shades of blue are amazing.

We have been there many times. I don't have current restaurant information, but that's a perfect topic for Yelp. We have stayed in homes, and only a few motels. Only once have we stayed on South Shore. Traffic can get pretty congested. The lake is a bit cold but if your accommodations have a pool that can work too!,

I was there like 20 years ago.. LOVED IT... I remember bringing home a big bag of the HUGE pine cones that were on the ground. I still have them! I bring them out at Christmas.

I would also suggest that you keep in touch with the wildfire situation in the Sierras. Since we are in such a severe drought everything is dry ( like grasses and shrubs) ... Have you had a chance to look up restaurant reviews in the area?

Tahoe was one of the stops on our honeymoon. Picture this, me and my husband in a hot tub under a beautiful star lite sky and 3 young guys wearing winter hats decided they should join us. Can anyone say, Freaky, mood killer?
