I feel that DD and I should probably both be taking vitamins, but I don't know what kind to take. The Women's One-a-Day type upset my stomach. I started to buy some at Target the other day, but almost every type they sold was a gummy - and I don't want to use 4-6 of my breakfast carb allotment for a vitamin! Does anyone have a type they particularly like?

Flintsones chewables - not the gummies. Recommended by a hospital dietician. Also, make sure you take your vitamins on a full stomach to avoid stomach upset.

Why do you feel like you should be taking a vitamin? Most American diets don't need more vitamins. When I was taking a nutrition class we (class of over 400) kept a food log for a week. The data was pooled and most people lacked fiber and calcium.

I take the multi gummy vitamins because all of the pill form ones upset my stomach - no matter if I've eaten or not. I also take D on recommendation from my doctor and I've recently added magnesium after reading it could help regulate hormone levels and help with menstrual migraines.

Per my M.D.
5,000 IU of Vitamin D - 5 days a week Calcium (+ magnesium) - 5 days a week
Why 5 days a week? Because I have a reminder set up in my Outlook at work so I'm really good about it on weekdays. Weekends, not so much.

Most multivitamins upset my stomach too, even with food. I can tolerate Flintstones and the Nature Made Vitamelts. I also take biotin for my hair.
When I'm dieting I'm eating low cal so I like to take a multivitamin just to be sure I'm getting all I need.

Vitamin D, B12 and CoQ10. I don't take a multi because they make me nauseous. I eat a pretty balanced diet so the vitamins I do take were suggested by my doc and one was required by him (due to a deficiency).

Per my doctor:
One multi vitamin-Rainbow Light Active Adult 50+ (It's a food based multi vitamin I get at Whole Foods) Vitamin D3 5000 IU Whole Foods brand Homocysteine Supreme-this is a form of B12 my body can tolerate. I can't process B12 from food or regular B12 vitamins sicnce I have a defective MTHFR gene.
I have an Integrative Medicine doctor. He does very presise blood tests every year and adjusts accordingly.

If you're taking a vitamin that contains iron, that may be what is upsetting your stomach. Try one without it.

Don't take any vitamins. I eat healthy and have never had any symptoms/reason to believe I am lacking any vitamins. Kids don't take any either. Pediatrician asked many years ago and was fine with my answer that they eat well.

My husband and I (and our kids) just take Vitamin C in the fall/winter. We eat a lot of healthy food (kids too!) so we don't take multivitamins.

Nature's Bounty Hair Skin and NailsI take these. My dr. is firmly in the camp that we pee out most vitamins but I had a need for calcium and vitamin D based on blood work. I don't know if these work, but I take them in addition to vitamin D.

I take Ocuvite with multi-vitamin. This was recommended by eye doctor for dry macular degeneration.

Have you gone to a dietitian? I saw a dietitian in Atlanta that I loved! At the time I was insulin resistant and her area of expertise was this. She strongly believes in a high fiber diet. I never counted carbs, instead concentrated on high fiber foods, vegetables and fruit, protein and portion control. She recommends the 3 section divided plates, using the largest portion for the protein, the smaller two for carbs and vegetables.

I have issues with food digestion which makes eating a proper meal difficult, so my Doctor recommended a multivitamin to cover the basics.
My vitamins include: One a Day Women's, magnesium, cranberry supplement, vitamin D3 (6,000 iu 2x a day), B12
The magnesium and cranberry supplement is to help alleviate the Fibro pain.

My doc's suggestion if you suffer an upset stomach try taking them at night right before bed. I generally take Centrum plus an additional vit d (I'm chronically low on d)

I try to take mine right before bed so it can't give me a tummy ache. DH can take his whenever I give them to him and he's fine. Chewables are a good idea, too. Those wouldn't bother my stomach like others would.
I only take iron every other day or so, not daily.

I take the Andrew Lessman brand B Complex and an inexpensive Vitamin D. I should be taking calcium but it makes me sick to my stomach.

Don't take any vitamins. I eat healthy and have never had any symptoms/reason to believe I am lacking any vitamins. Kids don't take any either. Pediatrician asked many years ago and was fine with my answer that they eat well. This. I eat a plant based diet and I get all my vitamins and minerals from their natural sources. I've tracked my macros and micros several times and always end up with either 100% or more or just shy of 100% for everything. The only thing I do take is Vitamin B12, because as a vegan and with horrible soils and the cleaning habits in this country, I can't get enough Vitamin B12 from diet alone.

The only vitamin I take-- after talking to my doctor because the multis upset my stomach as well (she also said that was likely from the iron)-- is 1000 IU of Vitamin D. I take the Andrew Lessman brand B Complex and an inexpensive Vitamin D. I should be taking calcium but it makes me sick to my stomach. Have you tried Tums for your calcium?

The supplement I take is made by a company called Designs for Health, and like I said it's called Homocysteine Supreme. You can order it online, but I usually buy it at my doctors office so I don't have to pay shipping-his office is 5 minutes from my house. This supplement includes B2, B6, B12, folate and zinc. Let me know if you have any more questions. Debbie in MD.

Vitamin D. My levels aren't low enough for a prescription level dose, but my doctor said that I do need a supplement.
