Is anyone giving yourself a reward after a certain period of time? I'm thinking of giving myself the money I would have spent on soda in a month. I can buy whatever I want with it. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Ok, I'm having my farewell Dr. Pepper right now. The only other one I had today was this morning before work. Tomorrow, I'm going cold turkey. I've got Excedrin and BC powders on hand. Lots of water is chilling, and a couple of my favorite bags of ice are in the freezer. I think I'm going to try Benem's method and allow myself a few sweet (sugar sweetened only) drinks right at first, and then totally eliminate those later on. I have some 1/2 and 1/2 (aka Arnold Palmer) for when I've just got to have a sweet drink, but I'm not very much of a tea drinker, so I think I'll do ok with that. I'm going to avoid all the drinks with artificial sweeteners. And I think I'm going to go ahead and include the Stevia in this category, too. I drank half a can of Pepsi at lunch and then had half a 20 oz coke and my uncles house this afternoon. Those were my last. I drink coffee, black or with 2% milk, and have no intention of quitting that so I will still be getting caffeine. But something about Pepsi in particular, I have always got headaches if I've tried to go a few days without even with other caffeine products. I took a nap earlier and had a dream about Pepsi. I can't remember all the details, but wherever I was, I was dying of thirst and the only thing available was a case of Pepsi cans, ice cold in a refrigerator. I have serious issues. ![](http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-confused009.gif)

I'll join. Don't know that I'll go cold turkey as I have a day from heck scheduled tomorrow and don't want to throw in caffeine-withdrawal on top of everything else. But I know I need to quit again and stay quitted this time. (Is quitted even a word? ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )

I, in no way, meant to de-Diet Coke myself, but it seems to have become a thing. LOL
I usually have a D Coke in the AM just like others have coffee during the week, then have as much as I want on the weekends.
I had as much as I wanted this past weekend, then decided on Monday that I was going to have water until lunch, a D Coke for lunch, then water all evening. I ended up forgetting to have one for lunch and never had one at all yesterday. This morning, I had water, then got a large tea at lunch and some for dinner as well.
So, since I started it, I might as well see how far I can get! I CANNOT drink water at restaurants because most places only serve tap and it's just gross. In those cases, it will be D Coke or tea. At home, it will be all water. :-O

I drink 2-4 cans of diet soda on most days. I usually run out before my husband who drinks regular coke - and sometimes I try to not drink his but I usually cave in. especially when I don't go buy more and I get the caffeine withdrawal headaches :/
I don't know that I can commit to zero soda. But I would love to cut down and then from there take the next step to cutting it out.

I appreciate everyone's posts. I'm not ready to give up diet coke yet but maybe I can with a little support. I'll keep checking in!

Well, I just took an aspirin for the headache I know I'm gonna have, buckling up to try and stay positive. My hair already pissed me off and I started my period this morning, so, this should be a fun day. But, I am gonna do it. I'm 'bigger' than a little caffeine in a pepsi...

I don't think I can make the switch to coffee. I wish I could, it would be cheaper. I don't love doing the 5 hour energy but if it's a half bottle once on awhile it shouldn't be too bad. I tried the mio energy drops that you add to water. It either didn't help OR made me jittery. I haven't found a happy medium. I don't like coffee either, so I can't switch to that. I don't like any alcohol, so diet soda is my only "fun" drink. That's why it's hard for me to give it up. I could at least try to cut down to one a day, and work from there. Diet soda doesn't make me hungry like it does for normal people! I think that is part of my problem, it keeps me from wanting junk food as to me, a diet coke is even better than chocolate (crazy!). But if it makes you sluggish, I do suffer from that at times, even when I haven't had soda yet that day (but have had it the day before). That would be worth at least trying to give it up for me.

I managed to wait until 1pm before I had my usual 8am can of pepsi. I am proud of myself. I am going to do this!
Where's everybody at?

Just wanted to say I'm here to cheer you all on! ![:2thumbsup:](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/zKsqKGInldFvtmx415J3.jpg) I did this about 18 months ago and it has made such a huge difference in my life. I didn't think it would, but it really does. I crave water now. Actually crave and love the taste of it. And yes, you can drink water in the theatre along with your popcorn. What happens so quickly along with the weight loss (35 pounds) is how your body suddenly doesn't crave any of the other junk food either. It was so much easier to then continue on my journey to healthier eating and next stop all fast food. Because I didn't crave it anymore. Those chemicals were out of my body and I didn't want it anymore. Just the thought of it made me nauseous. Next step was on to whole foods, eating less processed foods. It easily came together step by step once those chemicals are gone. Anyway, I'm so happy to see my fellow Peas start this process! Debbie in MD.

You have a great chance of having caffeine withdrawal and possible horrible migraines for this time period, so the Excedrin helps!

I can't count how many times I've quit Diet Pepsi and then relapsed... sigh! I'm in! I don't drink it every day and I don't have any withdrawal when I don't have it but I love it and I crave it. I don't drink coffee and I do drink a ton of water, at least 8 glasses a day. But I love the fizzzzzzz of soda! I also occassionally drink Sunkist Diet Lemonade soda, so tasty!
Question: Is a bone density scan covered by insurance?

k8smom: My obgyn in NY always did a bone density test in the routine yearly exam. Back then it was no biggie. They measured your foot and ankle, etc...... Pretty simple. The last time I had it done was during xrays for a possible sprained knee and they did it then. I'm sure it would be covered!
sweetpea: Can you take anything else for your migraines? I can't take aspirin anymore either. Thing is that caffeine is a HUGE trigger for stomach issues/ulcers, etc., too!!! Whatever you use for headaches or migraines should help during the withdrawal period. It's pretty short.
