Dusting this thread off... Many of us have our issues with Studio Calico, but today they have done something sweet. They are taking preorders for a stamp set designed by Lindsay Letters in honor of her daughter Eva who suffered a traumatic brain injury. You can of course also donate directly to the family's GoFund Me. www.studiocalico.com/shop/stamp-set-4x6-be-brave-by-lindsay-lettersEva's story can be found in both of her parent's Instagram accounts, @lindsayletters.co and @dugansherbondy. It's a horrible tragedy.

I just read the story about how this happened, and it seems super improbable that just falling off a golf cart at a low speed on a flat surface would cause this much issue. It said that she leaned off in one of the entries. I'm wondering if something hidden (like something genetic she was born with but they didn't realize) caused her to fall off and that it contributed to the brain damage. Crazy story. Regardless, I hope she gets better.

Oh my, I just went through the instagrams. How heartbreaking. My daughter is nearly seven and a half and I can’t imagine going through this. I hope she has a speedy and miraculous recovery

Regardless, I hope she gets better. I read that and wondered that, too. The way Lindsay describes her daughter just kind of flopping out of the golf cart made me wonder if she experienced some kind of seizure or something else that would make her just fall over. Both parents say it was strange, the way she just fell out. I just got caught up on everything, and I just feel absolutely terrible for this family (I haven't heard of them before). I got a little verklempt reading through the Instagram comments where thousands of people from around the world said where they were praying from. That is the good side of social media. That must be so uplifting.

That's awful news about her daughter. As a parent of a chronically sick kid, I know how devastating it is. I have her stamp already but will donate to her go fund me account. Their medical bills are going to be horrendous and as a small business owner, I have no idea what her insurance is like. Every little bit will help. It's good of SC to organise this.
Changing subject. If anyone has the On the Shelf (try the book stack) or Away we go (the globe) digital stamps and uses PSE, can you see if you can drag any of the stamps onto a canvas? I can open them but I can't drag them. I get a program error. From opening other files from SC they are unlocked whereas these are locked. I can't do anything to unlock them either. I've contacted SC but interested to see if the problem is with the file or with some of my settings. I've spent a couple of hours trying various fixes but the files do open differently than other SC stamps so now I am thinking the problem is with the files. Thanks!

Heartbreaking story indeed. The religious part feels very weird. Waiting for God to perform a miracle, all the prayer messages. The USA are extremely Christian. I've never seen this type of desperate pleas to a deity before. It makes all the more heartbreaking to me as a non because I just don't see it as anything else but science, medical teams and a bit of luck. Even the older people around me who still believe will only mention something along the lines of praying for someone, not about being on their knees or the power of prayers at 10:30 AM leading to a breakthrough. Is this normal religious talk (and thinking) in the USA? (it's a genuine question, not a mocking rhetorical one)
Brain injuries are terrible things. Her young age is in her favour so I hope she pulls through and regains consciousness + use of her body. However, I know from personal experience that you can't give too much weight to every single sign of "getting better." It's a long game. Brain trauma patients can suddenly take a turn for the worse, unfortunately. Fingers crossed for this little girl!
So sad that they need to collect money for their daughter's emergency care. Something needs to change across the pond. This isn't acceptable.

I think it is definitely a regional and certain branches of religion thing. I believe in God, I believe Jesus was his son and died for our sins, etc, etc, but I don’t think that God will heal people if enough people pray or believe. That to me smacks of God deeming one person more worthy then another, which I don’t believe He does. I agree with you regarding medical care. It is completely unacceptable that people are financially ruined in order to receive necessary treatment. That poor girl and her family. What a truly heartbreaking situation.

@northrigg Yes, I'm getting the same error for the book set. I converted it to the RBG profile and it seems to work now but instead of having a transparent background, it's now white. I did notice that I had the journal cards downloaded twice. The second time, the file name was marked as "final", so maybe we need to download this digital stamp from the SC website again?
ETA: I also changed the file properties and I still can't get it to drag and drop like a .png file should. Something is definitely wrong.
Thanks @rosyposy could you start a chat with SC as well? If 2 people report a problem they will more likely try to resolve. Last time I had a technical issue with them it took a lot of back and forth to get them to finally fix. I fear that they won't believe me

Honestly, I have never read one of their posts and thought anything strange about it. Her father is also a pastor and they too live in the Midwest (upper in Wisconsin). I too agree with the cost of our insurance premiums and what remains to be paid for medical care. I have seen it throw families into a ruin.

3rd time is the charm! The files are finally fixed - so for anyone owning Away We Go or the book set - download the files again and they will work!

Thanks for the input regarding the hyper religious aspect of the social media posts of Eva's medical condition, craftymom101 Skellinton nicolep! Much appreciated. Interesting to note how different things are inside and outside the US Bible belt. I've never read such kinds of posts over here in Europe (although I'm sure some exist but they'd be a tiny minority and probably very hard for me to come across). Is such speech more prevalent in certain branches of Christianism like Evangelicalism? @northrigg Glad you got your issue sorted! Makes me realise I need to check that the SC digi files I have actually work...

Makes me realise I need to check that the SC digi files I have actually work... There are definitely denominations that are more outspoken about their faith. especially in their everyday lives. In fact, some of them view it as a big requirement of their faith. Maybe someone else can think of the specific word I’m forgetting (I am running on little sleep, ha) but they do it because they believe it’s spreading the gospel, helping show people Christ, bringing people over to the religion, etc. As someone who chose Christianity as an adult, I really dislike this line of thinking, as I know how uncomfortable it is to have someone continue to talk and refer to their faith in their personal interactions with you. It made me dislike Christianity for the longest time. Generally, it’s the more conservative denominations that are more vocal, such as Southern Baptists, LDS (though many don’t consider then Christian), Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc. Evangelicals seem to be very religious, partly because they often have found religion to strongly impact their lives at a later date.

When I moved to the south, I was surprised how much/religion faith is interwoven in everyday speech and interactions, especially in the workplace. I do my best to politely avoid any of it as much as I can but it's pretty hard to do. What drives me nuts is all the "I'm blessed" nonsense. I'm sure some folks are being sincere, but most of the time it comes off braggy to me. Like Jesus singled them out for a mc-mansion/fancy car/etc. & the rest of us are just undeserving schmucks. I just didn't grow up around any of that stuff so it rubs me the wrong way.

pancakes “proselytizing“ which is an attempt to convert others. It’s the foundation of a lot of very conservative faiths like southern baptist and LDS.

Resurrecting this thread because SC have restocked some of their fan fave stamp sets including the nice 6x8 Bookish alpha set. I'd signed up to purchase it but it turns out I'm not in the mood to spend $29 on a stamp set right now. I went to Patreon and hit the $1/episode support button for a small podcast I follow instead. I think I've definitely turned a page (ha, paper pun!) when it comes to spending on scrappy stuff without thinking. But good on SC for bringing back sets that many of their customers have been wanting to purchase.

Patreon is mostly the place you go to after finding a podcast you like if said podcast has mentioned you can support them through Patreon patronage, an after effect rather than a podcast search tool. It's open to content creators beyond podcasts as well (like Inkie Quill, Caylee Grey and others are doing). Maybe it's time a crafty podcast thread was started so we could regroup + review those that are out there?
