Ammaliatrice enthusiastically started a thread about some coffee she absolutely loved, and the responses were how bad others thought it was, especially compared to the one they liked. I thought to myself at the time, this isn't going to go well. Maybe her feelings were hurt. Mine would have been.

I've looked at the thread, expecting to see a major hair flip and three people said they weren't over keen on the brand. That was it. Not something that even the most sensitive of souls could possibly get their knickers in a twist about. I bet she has pressed the wrong button and accidentally deleted her account.

It's actually pretty difficult to delete your account accidentally: you not only have to find the right button, you then have to type into a dialogue box to confirm it (exactly to avoid accidental deletions, I'm guessing).
Ammaliatrice never seemed to me someone who would leave over something as trivial as coffee, and certainly not without saying anything. My guess - and it is nothing more than that - would be that something is going on in her offline life that has prompted it; I hope that whatever it is, it all works out ok for her, and that she comes back to us when she's ready (if she chooses to).

Really? Your feelings would have been hurt over people liking different coffee to you? I can't imagine anyone being that sensitive about a hot beverage. She did write a post recently on a happiness thread (I think) that made me wonder if she was ok, I wish I'd asked her now

I wondered about that also when I read that post but decided not to ask as it could have been considered an intrusion, or I could have picked it up the wrong way.

Sad to hear this. There was nothing on the coffee thread that was hurtful. Perhaps, as admin said, something in her personal life.

It was the contrast between her obvious enthusiasm and comments that seemed so negative in response. I doubt if they even intended it to come across that way, but my reaction after reading them was "ouch." That's all.

It will be because I am demented or without internet. I worked very hard for my pea badge and my refupea badges and I'll be darned if I'm going to give all that up!

IIRC her thread was about a cold beverage, does that change your opinion? I can't imagine she left over that, there weren't that many posts, were there? Granted the ones I read were over the top hating on SB Cold Brew, but since I hadn't had any yet I couldn't offer my support! I did have one the next day though and really enjoyed it, nice and strong. I hope she is reading and realizes she is missed.

I hope she is well too. She is a valuable member of the community IMO. I was one of the ones who disagreed with her on the Starbucks cold brew and I just can't imagine that thread could have prompted her to leave. It's not like any of us said, "OMG, you're totally insane and a complete loser for liking that!" We just stated we didn't care for it and why, which is no different than her saying she liked it and why. It wasn't a judgment of her, just everyone's differing opinions on an item. She never struck me as someone who would be upset by something like that.
ETA: I can't speak for the other two who didn't like it, but my purpose in posting a dissenting opinion was just so other peas who read the thread would have more than one description of the beverage and be able to better decide if it was something they might like before they order it. Everyone has different palates.

Someone will post something happy in one of my dog groups and several people will come in and say how they don't like that Not sure what their intent is, but it does seem like an unnecessary downer for the poster.

Didn't read her post, but I feel there's a difference between asking people's opinion & simply stating your own. In the former, you want to know what other people think and welcome differing views. In the latter, when people offer their opinion and it doesn't agree w/yours, it can feel like you're being put down or slammed. I'm not just saying that about this board or FB - I find it to be that way in life in general. Of course, I'm PMSing, so I might be a little oversensitive . . . Oh, and I hope she comes back, too!

We could be PMSing together I see it too. Another example, someone wants to vent and people have to give their opinion instead of just letting them get it out They didn't end their vent with a question, so it's just a release and they don't want to know how you would handle it or how they messed up or anything else. They probably just want a kind word and maybe a hug

I was getting ready to post something very similar. I don't get it here or on fb when someone has to insert their negative opinion into something when opinions weren't asked for. If you start a thread "what do you think of these shoes?" and get responses like, "Oh, those are ugly! I would never wear them!" it's understandable/expected. If you start a thread, "Look at these cute shoes I just ordered!" it kind of irritates me when people come on just say, "Oh, those are ugly! I would never wear them!" I see it all the time, here and on facebook. If someone's not asking for opinions, just sharing something, why does anyone feel the need to step in and say how much whatever it is sucks? Why not just scroll on by?
I am not a Disney person at all. I don't get it, never have, never will. I think it's a huge rip off, but I know others love it. And I don't feel the need to go onto Disney threads just to tell everyone how much I don't get Disney and how much of a rip off I think it is when they are posting their excitement about their upcoming Disney vacation.
Like I said, I don't get it.

Everyone has different palates. I thought the responding posts were pretty mild and polite, nothing to set off anyone who's strong enough to be an NSBR pea in the first place. Whatever caused her to leave, I hope her life smooths out and she comes back soon.

The least she could have done was flounce out in a grand fashion! I hope it's nothing major and she returns when she feels like it. Yes! This is the peas, nobody just quietly walks off! If you really don't plan to come back, then a pea need to go out in a hair flipping blaze of glory. Make sure you have the perfect Jon Bon Jovi hair for this blaze of glory hair flip In all seriousness, I hope whatever prompted her to leave is just short term because I miss her wicked sense of humor!
