I was getting ready to post something very similar. I don't get it here or on fb when someone has to insert their negative opinion into something when opinions weren't asked for. If you start a thread "what do you think of these shoes?" and get responses like, "Oh, those are ugly! I would never wear them!" it's understandable/expected. If you start a thread, "Look at these cute shoes I just ordered!" it kind of irritates me when people come on just say, "Oh, those are ugly! I would never wear them!" I see it all the time, here and on facebook. If someone's not asking for opinions, just sharing something, why does anyone feel the need to step in and say how much whatever it is sucks? Why not just scroll on by?
I am not a Disney person at all. I don't get it, never have, never will. I think it's a huge rip off, but I know others love it. And I don't feel the need to go onto Disney threads just to tell everyone how much I don't get Disney and how much of a rip off I think it is when they are posting their excitement about their upcoming Disney vacation.
Like I said, I don't get it.
Exactly!! Or when someone asks what type of eyeshadow (or some such item) they should buy. Invariably someone will post how they don't wear eyeshadow. Seriously? How is this helpful? Other than to help up your post count, I mean. And I'm joining you all on the 'I don't get it' bench.

Didn't read her post, but I feel there's a difference between asking people's opinion & simply stating your own. In the former, you want to know what other people think and welcome differing views. In the latter, when people offer their opinion and it doesn't agree w/yours, it can feel like you're being put down or slammed. I'm not just saying that about this board or FB - I find it to be that way in life in general. Of course, I'm PMSing, so I might be a little oversensitive . . . Oh, and I hope she comes back, too! We could be PMSing together I see it too. Another example, someone wants to vent and people have to give their opinion instead of just letting them get it out They didn't end their vent with a question, so it's just a release and they don't want to know how you would handle it or how they messed up or anything else. They probably just want a kind word and maybe a hug I've seen these, too. My first thought is always 'Nice. This person is having a bad day at work or trouble w/their kid or whatever as it is. Way to kick 'em when they're down.' Off to take my Midol . . .

Hope she is ok too.
There have been times when I was struggling with life and didn't come here. Sometimes, the most non-remarkable thread can bring such negative energy.
