I don't give a rat's booty about the Pats but I hope my boy Matt Flynn gets to start in his place.

I'm a Colts fan, so I'm a bit more invested than the average NFL fan on this one. I've felt frustrated all along that it seemed Goodell was looking for ways to let the Patriots and Tom off the hook. You have a rule or you don't have a rule ... but you don't have a rule and not enforce it evenly. And I honestly think the commissioner tried to be lenient. He tried to help his buddies. But when you willfully destroy evidence, what choice does Goodell or the sports community have but to think you are guilty? Highly confidential information on other topics or not on that phone, an attorney should be able to secure enough privacy to prove Tom's innocence ... if that's the truth. I may not be a high-powered NFL quarterback married to a supermodel, but damned if there aren't things on my text list that would embarrass me if they got out, too. And damned if I wouldn't still risk it to clear my name in an accusation that could cost me in my career and highly paid endorsements. So yah. I don't think I'm terribly biased any more to declare Tom Brady guilty of cheating. Exactly!!!

There should be an official, televised, ball inspection before each game. That should solve any future ball handling issues.

I will say that I am a Seahawks fan.
But I did think the penalty would get reduced to 1-2 games.
I also think the Patriots organization, and Tom Brady, need to shut. up.
The more they talk the worse things sound.
Whoever is in charge of their statements and press releases needs an editor.
Keep it simple. Keep it low key. Keep it HUMBLE.
I think Brady is a great QB but humility would be his best play right now.

"I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances..." Meaning, after my attorneys told the NFL to stuff it and that they wouldn't be getting their hands on my phone. Given that they are able to locate the two phones he used prior to the "broken Samsung" that was destroyed rather than just replaced, at the very least Brady supporters have to realize this leaves the perception that there was something to hide and evidence was deliberately destroyed. I like what Bob Costas said this morning: "It's always the cover-up rather than the crime,'' Costas told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on TODAY Wednesday. "I've been thinking from the beginning, why didn't he just say, 'Look, the equipment people knew I wanted the footballs at the lowest permissible end of inflation. If accidentally or purposely they went beyond that, I take responsibility for it because I communicated my preference, but I didn't order him to do that.''
Exactly. Let's say for the sake of argument that I accept the idea of Brady needing to replace his phone 3 or 4 times a year (though if I were his wife, I'd be suspicious of that), the thing is, he knew they wanted to see the texts. Show them the texts and THEN do what you want with the phone. And I'm sorry. If Brady's the upstanding guy he wants to say he is, who cares if someone at the NFL offices leaks personal texts? You don't need privacy if you aren't doing anything wrong. I have always said, live your life in such a way that anything you say and do can be printed in the newspaper.

I have always said, live your life in such a way that anything you say and do can be printed in the newspaper. The problem with that is, when you put it out there, you aren't the one deciding if it's innocent or not. There will always be groups of people that can find something majorly wrong with what you've said or done -no matter how nice or normal the world thought it was 20 minutes ago. Just look at the long list of absurd words and phrases not allowed to be said on many college campuses anymore. These are the places that are shaping the new world we are living in. Or look at the "All lives matter." statement, that got so many people in a tizzy. Who would have thought any rational person with a functioning brain would find any fault with that. But many, many, many, people did. Everyone deserves privacy.
ETA: I'm just addressing your "you don't need privacy if you aren't doing anything wrong." Destroying the phone, under these circumstances, makes it look like you're guilty as hell.

I do understand why folks got in a tizzy re: All Lives Matter, though.. My point is, I'm careful not to send texts that contain much more than, "I'm running a bit late," or "Do you want me to bring you a coffee from Starbucks?" If I'm Tom Brady & I'm, for example, cheating on my wife, I wouldn't be texting the person I'm cheating with - we'd only communicate verbally by phone, and we'd talk in code so if someone managed to tap my phone they wouldn't piece it together. Realistically, that's probably the kind of thing he's worried about getting leaked... some kind of sexting scandal, ala Favre and the woman whose name I'm blanking out on. That said, I can agree that people deserve privacy. If you're really innocent in a case like this one, though, I'd think you'd be willing to sacrifice that to preserve your legacy. Brady, in my mind, is guilty, and his actions have proven it.
