I am feeling compelled to revamp my organization system. Mainly my dilemma is page kits and the embellishments that go with them. This would also include the kits I have used, but still have enough supplies to create more pages. Right now I have all the paper together and the embellishments in baggies in a bin. Problem is, I sometimes forget that some of the paper has stuff to go with it! What do you all do with your kits? I'm thinking of gathering all kits (paper and embellishments) and putting the paper together with a post-it or sticker attached and putting the embellishments in a baggie and naming each set. Anyone have a better idea? I keep all my patterned paper in categories, except for the kits. I plan to redo that also, but that's for another day.

I've seen others on videos with plastic bins where the paper lays in the bottom and then there is an insert where they put the embellishments on the top. I thought it looked like a great idea. I tucked it in my mind for if I ever subscribe to a kit club again.

I have one of those. I just use 2 gallon ziplock bags and have a drawer the bags fit in. I really try hard to not have kits pile up.

I used 2 gallon ziplock bags when I did subscribe to a kit club. But I hated going in and out of a bag for my supplies. So I thought those would be great and if you limited yourself to a certain # of them, then you're required to use them up quick to have empty ones for an on-going subscription.

I bought some of these Cropper Hopper Paper Arrangers for my collections that have lots of embellishments that go with them. They are awesome! I put several similar collections in one folder, such as travel, Christmas, etc. They're a little pricey, but the price fluctuates on Amazon a lot, so don't be discouraged, just keep checking. I also got some of the plainer ones without the front pockets for paper collections that don't have many embellishments. I'll try to post a picture of my paper organization soon. I recently rearranged it all in my fairly new Costco storage unit, and it's working really well. Before this, I was using Iris boxes and/or large ziplock bags

I keep large amounts of product together. These stay in Iris boxes. If I have a few embellishments that work with a line, I keep them on my Clip It Up and put a sticky note in the baggie with the other paper.

Meridon, you are good not to let the kits pile up. I was scrapbooking a lot when I bought most of these, and then took a long hiatus! Now I am trying to get my kids books finished up and use all this up. I like those Iris cases, but was trying to get some kind of system a bit more compact. I have been using the ziplock bags and they are great, just a bit messy looking. Right now the ziplocks are thrown into a bin. Hopefully I can put a big dent in that this year since I am in the scrapping mood again. Oaksong, that 's a good idea about the cropper hopper arrangers. I may get a few of those. I do have some of the kits stored together right now, like christmas/snow themes, etc.

I keep kits together until I pretty much 'kill' them - either in clear boxes or paper envelopes which I just label. Once most of the kit is gone or I've had enough of it, that's when I break the remaining stuff up.

My 12x12 kits are kept together in ziplock and then I place them in one of those vertical paper holders that comes with a lid you can remove. They also come with hanging file folders but I never use them. I think they are IRIS brand.

oaksong Thanks for the link. I am going to try this. Amazon has a two pack right now for $9.57 on Prime. I usually keep my collections in Iris cases until they are mostly used up, then I break apart into my general supplies.

I bought some plastic slightly expandable envelopes that snap shut at Michaels (thicker/harder plastic than a baggie, but still flexible). I think they were 3 to a pack, or maybe 10 in a pack? I put the paper and embellishments in it and since they are clear, easy to see the theme, etc. I think they are about 1" thick when fully expanded. East to stand up for storage.
I have loved them!

I like the Iris bins too and I just throw EVERYTHING in together that goes together with the paper flat on the bottom and the other stuff piled on top. Everything is sorted by theme or category because that's how I scrap. For the categories where I have too much stuff (Christmas, Halloween, birthday, etc.) I put the papers or 12" flat stuff in one and all of the embellishments in a second one and store them together. My current problem was finding something to store the filled BINS in. I had a bunch of wooden cubes from Target that I bought years ago that are the perfect size (almost the same interior dimensions as the CIS cubes that I used to build my island), but neither the Target cubes or the CIS cubes are being manufactured anymore so I was out of luck. I used the ones I had, but didn't have enough of them to put in the closet where I want to store the rest of my bins. After searching everywhere to find something that would fit them and be heavy duty enough to not collapse under the weight of all that stuff and finding nothing commercially available, I ended up contracting with my shelf guy to build me a freestanding set of shelf cubbies to hold my bins. It wasn't the cheapest option but it will do exactly what I want, be sturdy enough to not collapse once it's full and it will fit exactly in the space where I wanted to put it. ETA: My new shelf is going to be installed on Wednesday! Woo hoo! Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow...

I've been a Club Scrap member since 2000, so that's 15 years off and on and that's lots of years of kits! I love organization and am a little OCD about keeping things neat and organized. What I've done since the beginning was keep my 12x12 papers in stacking 12x12 paper storage trays by Display Dynamics. They are plastic and you can store them up to 30 trays high, but they only take up 13x13 feet of floor space. So each kit goes in one set of trays, or if it's a very small kit I'd put two per tray. Currently I have 90! trays but I've collected them over 15 years.
I like to use Creative Memories now discontinued File Mate (which holds 10x12 sheets of paper). Basically it's an accordion plastic folder with tabs that can be labelled. I label these with the name of each kit and in each slot goes anything flat that goes with the kits-letter stickers, tags, paperwork, stickers, things like that. On the outside of the FileMate is a slot for label and when I fill it up I'll label it CS Kits Month and Year 8/2014-6/2015 or whatever it happens to be.
For all of the other pieces of the kit they are stored where everything else is stored-stamps get filed with stamps (and labelled), stencils are filed in the stencil binder, and ribbons are put on cards, labelled and put on rings with the ribbon cards. Any little embellishments like metal pieces, and so on are put into purple CraftMates binder with it's plastic compartments that are then labelled by kit on the top.
It might take me a couple of minutes to pull together the components of a kit, but I feel better knowing they are all stored properly in their places-that's the OCD rearing it's ugly head. It makes it easier for me somehow to find things and keep things neat.

I use the plastic envelopes you can buy at Micheal's. I throw everything together in the envelope until I'm ready to break the kit up. I don't have a lot of kits at a time though. I also use the Iris boxes to keep theme paper and embellishments together. Good luck finding something that work for you.

Once most of the kit is gone or I've had enough of it, that's when I break the remaining stuff up. Me, too...except I keep mine in the 13x13 envelopes sold in bulk at places like Michael's and HL. I then have an oversized file box (2, actually) where I keep them stacked in a way that I can look through them. Similar kits are near one another in the file boxes.

I put collection kits and any embellishments that do with it inside a 2gal ziplock bag. Works well for me.

I use the Becky Higgins PL page protector boxes like Mercy Tiara does. They fit perfectly in the Jet Max cubes with the shelves and slide in and out like drawers. It's not optimal if you are trying to save space, but I like the set up. I can pull out the boxes and see what's in my kits. Then I can push the box back in the shelf and there's no clutter to look at. I can also throw the page into a page protector and then into the box when I have to stop working on it.

I use a combo of page arrangers and the expandable plastic envies from M's/HL etc. I then have them in ONE box from Ms and it sits on my desk. Once it is full it is full and there is no more buying until it is used up. I just went through a month or so ago and made new kits from my stash as the old ones were used up/or stale to me. I love being up to switch it up. Now for things that are themed (christmas, very boy or very girl specific, certain sports, fall) I have all paper in the Iris boxes and the embellies in a ziploc in there. They then slide into a piece from Ms that I have had for a while. Easy peasy.

Mine are in a bin but the bin isn't too big so it kinda packs things tight. Hope that makes sense lol I'm horrible at explaining stuff like this.

I use plastic cello bags and stack them upright in deep baskets or metal locker baskets from antique stores so I can flip through them easily. I didn't have a need to seal them with a ziploc, which my stuff always catch on when I take it out. The cello bags are thin but very strong and I bought a pack of about 1,000 in bulk (which was only about $20 or $30) to put together page kits when I was an SU demo. I just keep my coordinating embellishments in the front. All my club kits get transferred to these, too. I like that they are clear and see through. When I go to a crop, I load them into re-useable shopping bags and take them. If I have time to pick out kits to go with photos, I just put the photos in the front, too. That's about 2/3rds of my stuff The rest I have the paper 12x12 sorted alphabetically by brand and then collection in the cropper hopper files and in rows on shelves. Most of the embellishments I then store in baskets. OA and Crate (my 2 faves) are the only ones I keep all together by brand.

For my kits I use the plastic envelopes with snaps, from Michael's I believe. Paper in the back, embellishments up front. Then I label them in the top left corner and alphabetize by manufacturer, then line. For example, BG ~ Archaic. They are stored front facing in canvas bins on a lower shelf about 2 feet off the ground. My shelves are right behind my desk so all I have to do is turn my chair, pull the bin out enough to leaf through what is in there and grab what I want. Like anniefb I use them until I kill them and then sort by color with my other embellishments, papers, scraps. Personally, I don't like stacking things because it is harder to get a good look at what I have. This way I can easily pull it out some to get a better look at colors, etc. And like you sugarmama, I keep all of mine in categories except for my kits. It took me a while to organize everything in a way that worked for me, and I tweak as necessary. Categorizing all but my themed (and now kit) paper and embellishments by color was life altering for me Edited to add that I saw or read an idea on the old board that when their kits were almost used up they made cards out of the leftovers. I thought it was a great idea!

The main pocket has about 1/2" of paper, plus a 6x6 pad. This is a combination of some various travel themes paper, stickers, brads, enamel, veneer and all sorts of goodies in the front pockets. (Click on the pictures to see a larger version.) My paper files are stored in the canvas boxes that came with my Costco storage unit. They have them back in the store again, by the way. This was a great storage addition to my craft studio. I finally feel organized, and free to create.

Here is a picture of the paper arrangers in the canvas storage boxes. The pockets have gussets, so you can even put washi tape or ticket rolls in them. The big front bottom pocket will hold 2 side by side 6x6 paper pads.
