The NSBR Refupeas may no longer scrapbook (for the most part) but I think we have the best pics.
Here's DD #1 and her beau.
And the two I shared on the Photography board for the August Photo Challenge

I love these threads.
This is my 9 year old. She's been a little teary eyed at the thought of summer break coming to an end, so this photo of her having a carefree, joyful summer moment is really sweet to me.

Wow! Amazing photos! Check out in your first photo, just right of his chest, it looks like a bird head with a blue eye, (well to me ) It does look like an eye, doesn't it? It's something slightly iridescent in the middle of a pruned branch, but I don't know exactly what it is. Maybe sap with something stuck to it?

I took this the other day of my oldest DD and was shocked to see that she is not a child, nor a teenager, but a full fledged WOMAN!

I haven't got any recent photos as nice as any of these already shared. But talking about bird photos.... yesterday I heard a couple of kookaburras on the power lines on the other side of the street opposite my house. I raced to get my camera but by the time I got outside they had flown away. I was actually going to video them as well so I could get their amazing call for my 1SE video. Were the kookaburras sitting in the old gum tree? LOL As silly as this sounds, I never knew that kookaburras really were a bird. I foolishly thought it was just a song we learned in elementary school. A song that I can not get out of my head now...thanks. hehe

But no, they were sitting on the power lines, which then led me to sing the alternate version of that song: Kookaburra sits on the electric wire, Jumping up and down, with his pants on fire. Ouch, Kookaburra, ouch! Kookaburra, Hot your tail must be!

I'm quite pleased with this picture of a sleeping duck, we came across them unexpectedly on the seafront while on holiday. That water is like glass.

Reminds me of those dumb triangle counting "games" you see on FB..."how many triangles to you see".
This one can be named "how many birds do you see?" LOL (and counting the birds wouldn't be dumb...only triangles LOL)

My3Freaks.....so sorry about your loss!!!! We didn't know how hard it was until we lost our precious foster bulldog on July 7 (he's not in that photo I posted, those are our personal doggies). I totally understand your reluctance to get a bulldog because of their AVERAGE lifespan of only 8 years ...(sad!); however, I can tell you that MANY live to 10, even 11....and once in a while, even 12-13 ! Our sweeeet foster bulldog was 10, full of life, SO happy, and loving! The reason he died so suddenly was probably due to being heartworm positive ( he was going to be started on medication for it ), and also, maybe due to being overbred, neglected, ? Anyway, ,he was found wandering the streets (breaks my heartt!!!) and we fostered him only 9 days when he died of a heart attack--we miss him SO much!!! All that to tell you, we've met MANY bulldogs who are healthy & happy at 10, even 11.....I pray our babies live that long (or longer!!)...that cute guy in my pik will be 7 in November, and even though that's "old" for a bulldog, he's still like a happy puppy in many ways, and very healthy! Here's our precious foster guy a few days before he died i5.photobucket.com/albums/y170/ScrappinToee/IMG_9381_zpsyc7vsz5a.jpg

On a MUCH happier note, here is a sweet girl we've fostered for almost 2 months.....she needs ACL surgery, then after 6 weeks of healing, she can go to her furever home ---which may end up being our home! c

Great photos everyone! DH and I canceled plans for a trip to Seattle on the August long weekend and traveled instead to Penticton BC for a couple of days of wine tasting. This was taken at one of the wineries on the Naramata Bench, a very scenic region on Okanagan Lake. We love it there!

This is a photo of my DS, 17 years old and 5'10", folding himself into a child's egg chair with canopy on our visit to Ikea last week. He also hid inside a kitchen cupboard, a wardrobe and behind a curtain. He has always loved to hide, but I thought he might have grown out of doing it in public places by his age!

He looks like he's ready to play in that picture Thank you for sharing the info, and your stories, I'm definitely open to having one, or 3, or 5 someday. Abby was about 8 months old when we adopted her from a shelter and was 9 when we lost her to cancer. We're pretty sure she had been abused before we got her (my stomach turns thinking about it...how I'd love to "meet" whoever hurt her. Not proud of those feelings). She had been hit by a car, so the Humane Society she was at did surgery on her shoulder, and her eyes. She was so scared, and pathetic looking we just couldn't leave her there. She went home with us that night and was adored and spoiled until the very end.

My 2 DDs walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. I spent 5 amazing weeks in NYC with Dd while she danced, and DH and my oldest got to come up on weekends. A summer to remember for sure! Meet not-feral-Frank. He showed up at a feral colony I feed at this winter, friendly as could be. And not neutered. Frank got his balls snipped, and his shots, but his presence is mystifying and sad. He must have been dumped, despite being a Bengal or a Bengal mix (photo you cant tell, but he huge with really cool spots ). My oldest has 2 beloved cats she has been trying to socialize since last year. They are beautiful- long haired orange, green eyes, bonded sisters. But, we are moving to Korea, and one of the sisters (Ursula, her sister Phoebe is manageable) is still far too wild to take. We cant get her to a vet unless its in a trap, and we would have to sedate her for the microchip and blood draw...and if she goes nuts in the carrier in the plane, what then? So its heartbreaking, but Ursula is going to a colony Sept 1. I am torn up about leaving Ursula. And I realized Frank is a housecat with no home, so we would take Frank to help with leaving Ursula. Only, the vet called, and its too late to get the paperwork/titers/chip done in time. I lit upon this plan last week (holding out hope Ursula would magically not try to kill us when we touched her) made an appointment and brought Frank home. He is the perfect housecat. Box trained. Loves to cuddle. Can be picked up (quite heavy!!) and put in a carrier, etc easily. Basically, a better behaved cat than all the cats we are taking with us. But we cant take Frank. So if you are within a days drive if Washington DC and want a neutered, all shots, totally laid back awesome cat- here is Frank. Since getting word this afternoon he would t make the timeline, I have determined I will find this guy a home before another winter outdoors in the feral colony. Because he is not feral Frank. I will drive him to you. If you thought about a cat...maybe...please, consider Frank. Frank is awesome.

After a semi-craptastic day yesterday, I came home and was picking up some limbs in the yard. Palm trees are pretty but they are MESSY! I looked down to grab a rather large frond and saw this -- exactly as it sat inside of the frond. So pretty that I stopped picking up limbs and got my camera. The tree dropped seeds, which fell into the frond, which started to bloom in the rain water that was captured in the frond. I did not touch this at all -- this is just how it was.

My Australian mother taught me this song eons ago, when I was tiny.
