I started buying Fairlife milk and LOVE it. It is ultra filtered milk. Higher in protein. No sugar, no lactose. The reason I started buying it was the shelf life. I bought 2 half gallons yesterday that have an expiration date of October. I am sure once it is opened, it keeps about as long as any other milk, but since I only go grocery shopping about every 2 weeks, this is a great selling point for me. I can buy a couple and keep in my spare fridge. Milk was the one thing that had me running to the store at least once a week. We don't drink a huge amount of milk anymore, but I do use some in cooking and for cereal. We are down to almost an empty nest. To me, it tastes the same as the milk I had been buying. No one has noticed any difference here - other than a different carton ("What is this?") Does anyone else buy this? What are your thoughts? I like their website - lol! Fairlife Milk

I buy the chocolate milk sometimes and I think it is SO good. So rich and creamy and I like that it's got a good amount of protein so I don't feel so bad about having it as a treat!
I looked it up online after I bought it since I was curious and there were all kinds of articles about it being "frankenmilk." But I also found a few that seemed much more rounded that explained the process of how it's filtered and it seems fine to me.

It doesn't taste like chemicals? That it has such a long shelf life would indicate it's heavily chemicalized. Well, that's what I suspect so I wouldn't be able to convince myself to try it.

It has been referred to as Frankenmilk. I don't see the appeal..

Fresh milk shouldn't last until October. No thanks.
And honestly, I don't trust Coca-Cola to produce any kind of healthy product.

I think the long shelf life comes from the pasteurization, the same way organic milk has a long shelf life because it's double/triple pasteurized. I"m not a milk expert, that's just my two cents. This is the article I read about it Dairy Carrie. She explains the process as: "fairlife is a milk that has been filtered in a way that allows the components of milk; fat, protein, minerals, water and lactose to be divided into it’s most basic parts. Once the milk is divided into it’s most basic parts, fairlife recombines the parts, leaving out the lactose, some of the fat and increasing the protein and nutrients. The filtration process is not some sort of chemical process, nothing is added to the milk for it to be filtered. Filtered means just that, the milk is sent through filters to strain the different parts out." It makes sense to me, although I guess there's no way to be sure that's true.

The life of the milk has to do with the pasteurization--not chemical additives.

My daughter tried it as she needs more protein after her spinal fusion. She did not like the chocolate at all.

I tend to lean towards the least amount of processing available in foods and therefore have not tried it. The milk I prefer is pasteurized but not homogenized.

I love it! You can buy organic milk boxes that don't even need refrigeration. As mentioned earlier, it has to do with pasteurization, not chemicals.
How many of you make pumpkin pie with condensed milk?

I started buying organic whole milk for my granddaughter. It lasts so long, even after opening & tastes so much better. This was about 3 years ago & I kept asking everyone I knew why it lasted so long & no one knew. I finally found online that it was due to the pasteurization. Now that's all I buy.

I haven't heard of it, but we buy Lactaid milk. It is ultra pasteurized, just like most half and half so it has a longer shelf life- the shelf life is not impacted by it being opened. We don't use much milk, so this saves us from throwing out a lot of milk. (And people in my house can eat cereal without having an upset stomach).

The chocolate has sucralose which is why it tastes so terrible. The white milk is great, so much better for you then the nut/soy milks ( which are filled with carrageenan and other crap) or regular milk.
Nothing is done to it all, the ingredients are 100% milk. What could possibly be wrong with that?
The fact that is distributed by coca cola means nothing, they merely distribute it because the dairy it comes from couldn't handle that aspect of it. No big deal. Coca cola owns all sorts of things-minute maid, evian, odwalla, zico coconut, dannon, etc. Heck Purina owns several cereal companies, doesn't mean the cereal tasts like pet food.
I love it, just wish it wasn't so hard to find.

I was in a market research group for a new product like this recently. They were looking for our reactions to the product and if we'd buy it or not.
I'll definitely try it when it is available here.

I buy it if I catch it on sale. My kids drink the chocolate and whole milk with no complaints. Ds #2 is a T1 diabetic and the chocolate Fairlife is half the carbs of True Moo or store brand. So he can have a little treat without a big sugar spike.

Costco carried it for a while, but hasn't had it in the last few months. Bummer because it was a dollar cheaper there (I pay about $6 for a 3 quart plastic jug, but as I said earlier, it is ultra-pasteurized so we actually use it all up.)

I bought one of the whole milk (for my chai lattes) and one of the chocolate . They were on sale at WalMart. I am always struggling to get protein in and need to start cutting back on my sugar.
We all thought the chocolate was the bomb! I didn't dissect the ingredient list, but it didn't have that weird thickener mouth feel that other premixed chocolate milks have. I had it as a recovery drink after my workout today and it tasted amazing to me.
Whole milk was good, too. I am a fan, I just wish it wasn't quite so pricey.

Erin Most people don't mind sucralose, but for some reason it leaves a terrible aftertaste in my mouth for hours and hours. I could drink a gallon of water and it wouldn't go away. One of my kids has the same reaction, it is really odd because my other kid and husband don't have the same reaction. The taste is fine while drinking it, it is the aftertaste that kills me. Glad you like the milk, I too wish it wasn't so expensive and hard to find.

I drink nut milks (hemp and almond) and it's very healthy. I make my own though so I know what's in it. You do realize that cow's milk is allowed to contain pus right? Pus in milkYea, I'll stick to my nut milks.

Also, lecturing others on their dietary choices is not the least bit annoying.

If you make your own that is a different story, but I was talking about commercial milk. For every arguement you can show me that milk is not good for you I could find another to refute it. To each their own, I like to drink milk and firmly believe if I am going to out milk on my cereal or in my smoothies Fairlife is the best alternative there is.
