I have a road trip to take. I'd like to play my iTunes in an older SUV. Are there speakers I could get for this? If so, what do you recommend?
I think years ago I tried this getting the music to play through the radio speakers. It didn't work. So, since it's been awhile I hope there is something out there I can use.
TIA, Ginger

Is there a tape deck in the vehicle?

Is there a tape deck in the vehicle? I have the same issue as OP. (Soooo ticked off now I didn't get upgraded sound system. 2007 Lexus I will never replace.) I bought a thing that was supposed to let me play iTunes using hardware and an app, but I never got that working right. So do they still make those cassette things you can use to make the iTunes work?

I don't use iTunes since I just use play lists on an ipod but it should work either way.

DH just installed bluetooth in our 1997 Land Rover. It plays iTunes and cell phone. He did it himself.
He's now looking into doing the same for my 2004 Infiniti.

I think it was the FM transmitter that I had tried years ago. It didn't work consistently. I returned it.
Tape deck....I don't think so. There is a cd player. I suppose I could burn my songs to a cd and take them that way. Ugh....the old fashioned way!

Do the cassette tape things really work? I have a prehistoric truck and would love to be able to listen to the music on my phone (iphone.)

I think that's what the thing was that I bought before that I couldn't get to work. Now I admit, it could have been user error. Anyway, it was supposed to be tuned to their radio station, in addition to plugging into their device and using their app. Too much technology for me. I'm going to look for the cassette thingy. Thanks everyone.

I had an FM transmitter years ago as well and the one I linked above works much better. Rarely any static.

Fm transmitters are terrible for people who live in high volume radio areas. In California there is hardly a station without any interference.

Do you have a DVD system? That's what I use to connect my ipod.

-Caangel---yes we have a cd system. What did you use?
-GypsyGirl--I wondered about wireless speakers.
Ok, you guys have given me a few things to figure out.
Thanks much...any links to any of the suggestions above will be appreciated! I'm going to look at the wireless speaker link now.

I recently replaced the stereo in my 2004 car. It was $200. I wanted a model with Bluetooth for my phone so I can talk hands free. I did end up finally upgrading my iPhone from 4 to 6, because not even my 20 year old son could get the phone to sync.

This is like what I used to use. Just a do hicky that plugged into my lighter and iPod and then I would sync a radio station to my iPod. It worked pretty well but sometimes I would have to adjust the radio station as I traveled. We put an after market radio/cd player in the RV when we bought it and it is iPod compatible. It has a USB for my iPod that I just plug in. I love it so much we got one just like it for my SUV
