Yesterday was our big First Year Academy for incoming freshmen. After we finished, a young man asked if I used to teach at XYZ Elementary School in Virginia. Turns out he was in my first 5th grade science class there! And now he will be one of my first advising students in the College of B&E. Small world! I guess I should add that I now live about a 6-hour drive from where I lived when I taught him!

Very cool! What is the college of B&E? It is the business school within our university. I am an advisor for freshman/sophomore pre-business students and also assist "at-risk" business students (those on probation and those who are having difficulty passing the math requirements to be admitted to their majors) as an "academic coach." B&E is just shorthand for business and economics.

I hope that's not what they do with their degrees!
