Hi we need a diet and exercise coach in here. It isn't going to be me because I am fat and not fit enough. We need someone who is a work in progress or a success story or someone who struggles along with the rest of us. I am sure there are lots of us who want to lose weight and get fit. We may need 2 coaches. One for food and one for exercise.
Who wants to step up and challenge us to get fit and get firm.

I can help but I'm only half way to my goal. I've been doing the MRC (Metabolic Research Center) program since last August and have lost 55.5 lbs and have learned a lot. I I am focusing on adding the fitness / exercise component now using my Fitbit. I am on a 2.5 lb/week goal plan and hope to meet my target weight by Christmas. I would be happy to participate and share what I've learned but I am by no means an expert.

Not claiming to be an expert by any means, but I don't mind sharing what I have learned. I'm at 35 pounds lost in the last 4 months as of this morning.

Anyone who wants to start a weekly thread about diet/exercise/etc please do so. I am working at it. Still have miles to go. Literally and figuratively.

Wow ladies! I am impressed! I need to get into some semblance of shape. At my age it's more about health than looks. I am worried the zombie apocalypse will come and I won't be able to outrun the hoarding masses. It's a nightmare, I tell you! I'll be watching this post.

You should try the "Zombies Run" or "Zombies 5K" apps. It's a storyline that comes on in the background of your music and tells you to RUUUUUNNNNN THEEEYYYYYYRE COMMMMMMMING!!!!! complete with moaning zombie sounds getting closer. I started running a few months ago -- I was getting bored with my walking. I started by running for one minute and walking the rest of my 45 minutes. Then I add one minute of running each time I go (3-4 times per week.) I'm up to 27 minutes now.

I am a Weight Watchers Life time member, that still struggles. Be happy to share my experience with WW - I lost 27 lbs and have kept it off for three years.

I went 20 minutes on the treadmill last night. Clearly, I'm the most qualified!

I'm in on the group, not sure how effective of a leader I would be.
I lost 48 lbs. last year with a change in my diet and exercise. For me it was about getting rid of the crappy food and cutting out my comfort foods of potatoes (and damn I love potatoes!)and bread.
I didn't go on any specific diet, just controlled my portions and ate clean and healthy. Oh and I cut out all pop, switched to water. I was in the bad habit of substituting diet pop for water.
I have always drank my coffee black so I had no problems there.
But I still have a ways to go so could use support and motivation.

Hmm, I could try to join in. I used to be a Jenny Craig counselor, after having done their program and reached my goal (for years). I went from a size 20 to a 2. It took a year to come off. I've kept it off for 13 years now. I still love researching health and fitness info.

I too would love the help and motivation. I have a brand new treadclimber in my house that's finally paid off and I've used it ONCE.

Love the group idea. I lost 55 lbs and have kept it off for over 2 years. Will never go back to that! I work out 5-6 days a week and love it.

I reached my goal in the beginning of 2001, so I've kept it off for 13 years; not 20. And, no, I'm not eating their food any longer, although if I had a local JC, I'd still stop in to buy some food items because I love their food that much!!!!!!!!!
Back when I did the program, you had choices for different programs, and I finally opted for the "lifetime" program, which entitled me to free future sessions plus a discount on the food, forever! Pretty cool. Plus, once I reached my goal, I got 1/2 of the $$ back from the sign-up fee! I used it to get a tattoo, to remind me of my accomplishments.
It taught me to be much more moderate and it eventually became instinct to learn how to make healthier choices. I still bake and cook, but everything in moderation!! I don't do fake sugars though. I don't do caffeine, coffee, tea, soda, etc...... There are many things I cut out just for my own health. HTH.

I would love to be a part of this group too! After having my kiddos, it is time to get everything sucked back in. In the last 3 months I'm down 16.5 lbs as of this morning. I became a runner 3 years ago but am really upping my speed plus cross training to lose and tone faster:)

You are all awesome! Keep up the good work losing, or maintaining!
We need someone to talk about diet and exercise and seeing how I suck at it, I need someone to jump in and start a weekly thread and follow up threads if you like. We all need encouragement.
Any takers?

I would join the group as well. I've lost 11 pounds since the middle of April. It's not a lot, but it's slow and steady. Lately I've been doing jazzercise and the beachbody Chalean Extreme program. I also just got a fitbit on Sunday.

Would love to participate. I've been doing WW since March..I've only lost 15 pounds but I'm hanging in there. I still need to lose at least 20. I work out at the Y a few days a week and wear a fitbit...when I remember to put the damn thing on!

I am in need of some serious motivation too. Pre-kids I lost 30 pounds, then gained 30 with DD, spent 2 years trying to lose it, then gained 35 with DS and spent 2 years trying to lose that. Can you guess what happens next? We're trying for #3 and I'm frustrated that I won't be able to hit my goal for another 2 years (breastfeeding makes me gain weight, not lose).
It's frustrating that in the last 5 years, I've lost 90 pounds but am the same weight that I started from!! It's just so hard for me and I find myself losing motivation by the time I get back to the weight I started from.
All that to say, I'd love some sort of a weekly check-in. I need someone to hold me accountable.

Instead of a weekly thread, what are your thoughts about a separate forum like the Recipes forum? I think I would be more active on that than trying to locate the thread in the NSBR forum. The weekly threads could be in the forum so it would be easier to search. Maybe. I'm new to this type of message board so don't know the scope of features it provides. Just a thought.

LOL, meeee too! Tecnically I can say I've used it more than once because I do throw the clothes that I need to hang up in my closet over it so it gets some action that way! My treadclimber was the worst $2k investment I've ever made... I hate it!

I would like to join as well.
I lost 80 pounds, 5 years ago. Much of it is back now, and I'm having one hell of a time getting motivated to even start back on a healthy plan.

A healthy living section would be nice but if Admin doesn't want to do that (and that's OK ) then we will just have a weekly check in, how are you doing, what kind of exercise did you do, didn't do, what worked what didn't, how much did you lose. What kind of lifestyle are you following, are you running a marathon, etc. Just an encouraging thread.
If you have lost a lot of weight, got into great shape etc please consider being our cheerleader. I suck at that, otherwise I would. Trust me I would. I am short, fat enough and don't exercise nearly enough (even though I am trying hard!)

I would love to participate! I have no success story to share because I'm just a giant yo-yo. But I am trying and this past year I have made some lifestyle changes that have resulted in some minor weight loss...but I have a LONG way to go. I'm currently doing the 5:2 diet and walking 3 miles 5-6 days a week. (and my walking partner is mean, she makes me go up pretty steep hills and makes me walk fast. I don't know why we are still friends)
Count me in!

I will join. I stated a workout program 3 weeks ago. I've never worked out before, so it's kicking my butt, but I feel so good. I've been overweight my whole life. I've done WW twice with good success, but I don't stick to it. Now I'm doing My Fitness Pal to track and working out. I feel that I am on the right path now. I have a lot to do, but I'm focused on my overall health rather than the number on the scale.

There's already a recipe forum, maybe someone could do a healthy recipe of the week or a healthy ingredient of the week?
