Big thanks to LisaDV for hosting the August challenge. I'll be around to post future challenges but if you would like to guest host a month feel free to volunteer.
This months challenge is journaling. Your project must include journaling that is more than the basic who/what/when/where/why.
Need some help to get writing? There were some great tips shared in this recent thread: ways to add journaling to a page
Sometimes you just need to write without thinking too much about it. Write or Die is a tool I've used to just get the words flowing and there's nothing quite like the threat of creepy crawlies if you fail or the reward of puppies or kittens if you succeed in meeting the goals you've set. I usually edit whatever I've written in Word before I add it to my page.
All types of projects count (paper, digi, hybrid, PL, art journaling, anything else you create) and if you share your projects online please link them here so we can admire and leave some love. You can find instructions to post in the Refupeas gallery in this thread but shout out if you need help.

I'm going to join in this one, too-- I have just the page that I want to make that will require a lot of journaling; it's one of those more 'touchy-feely' pages that are harder for me to do, but I really want to get this one done, so a challenge is a good way to do it. Chinagirl828, what is the Write or Die website?? it looks interesting, but I couldn't find an 'about' tab on the webpage.

I am so glad I saw this challenge early today. It was my day off and gave me something to work on. I usually don't journal so much and doing it in my own writting was a challenge in itself. Somehow I got a reflection or shadow in the middle of the picture and just noticed it.

Essentially you set yourself a target - number of words and a time limit. Then in the box that opens up on the same screen you just type. It will keep track of how many words you type and how long you have left to go. When the time you set is up you will either get your reward (if you set that option) or your punishment (if you chose that option). For the record, I always choose reward
I find the time/word limit to be a good way to make myself just type rather than overthink what I want to say. Sometimes I'll use what I've typed, sometimes I'll edit it significantly, and sometimes it will just be the jump start I needed to put myself in the journaling headspace.
To get started you can click the Try button in the bottom right hand corner of the black machine looking box on the screen. There are sliders down the bottom of the box that opens to adjust the time/words. You can also set these (along with the type of reward/consequence) on the black machine thing before you click Try.

thanks! I think I'll try it out, just to see what it's like-- I used to write 'morning pages' but stopped, because it's hard on my wrist to write by hand; a site like this might be a fun way to get back into it, or to write long journaling for a SB page.

Chinagirl828, thanks for letting me step in. I'd definitely host another time. And I love the journaling is your challenge. I'm going to look for a longer story for this one.

I love the colour scheme and that cute little anchor in your title.

Your layout is beautiful and the reasons why you loved the cruise really makes this special. Lovely colors and great title. I would love to take a cruise, but have severe claustrophobia and I worry about getting panicked. We walked through a battleship in San Diego and they had to lead me out after just a few minutes. I also get seasick just standing on a dock, so I'm not sure cruising is for me. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. You scrapped it beautifully.

Okay, here is my Bonus Challenge page for journaling. Our kids thought we'd lost our minds when we told them we had "vacationed" in these 2 tiny places. No artistry here, just a fun story. You Are Going WHERE by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Here's one from me documenting a story from my childhood. I have had those eenie meanie meinie moe stickers in my stash for what feels like forever and am glad to finally get them on a page.

Chinagirl828, what a delightful layout. What a great grandma she must have been. I love the eeni, meanie, meinie, moe tags. They just made me giggle and remember all the times we said that as kids. Beautifully done. I left you a note in the gallery. This challenge encouraged me to scrap a photo I've held on to for 40+ years. It's another non-artistic page, but I wanted to get the story down for posterity. Please don't laugh! The Outhouse by Nylene Budge, on Flickr The Outhouse (rt side) by Nylene Budge, on Flickr
