Last night while walking, I found a flash light in the street. On inspection, I found it missing a battery, so I put it back.
What have you found while walking ?

Once, while walking out into the ocean at VA beach to jump in the waves I found a $50 bill. Well, actually it found me. It wrapped right around my ankle. I thought it was a jellyfish. You can imagine my surprise when I lifted my leg out of the water and found money there instead of a critter. I was 10 at the time.

Once a year the graduating high school students have a massive outdoor party close to the end of the schoolyear. They are over the legal drinking age at this point, so this party is with alcohol. When the kids were younger, and in daycare, our walk to the daycare took us straight through the high school. It was a shortcut for us. And the things we saw at 8 a.m. outside of this high school the morning after this party (or... I should say DURING the party), has become memories for life for my girls. The beerbottles, the used condoms, the vomit, the HS'ers having sex in the bushes.... I gave my girls 'the talk' after one of these walks...
Recently, on my way to work, I found a bundle of Wunderbaums. In all kinds of crazy colours. Someone must have been collecting them in their rearview mirror, and then at some point just tossed them into the street. It was actually the most colourful and best-smelling garbage I've encountered!

I found a small plastic guitar outside a Hobby Lobby. I put it on a chain and hung it from my car mirror in the hope someone would one day say "Oh, I had one just like that and lost it" so I could return it to its owner.

A prescription pill bottle with no label and it was filled with pot. There was no trash around, so I threw it into the bushes.

You folks lead exciting lives. I think the best I've ever found is maybe a $5 bill. A few ones from time to time. In the winter around here I often find little kids' mittens or hats -- I think they pull them off while they're being pushed in a stroller. People usually hang those on a bush, or gate, or whatever is at hand in hopes that the parent will come by and see it.

I found a puppy on my way home from school. My parents weren't very happy since we had new carpet installed that morning. My mom named her LC for leaky compartment. They found a home for her quick.
And I found $20 in the space where I had parked my car.

A $10 bill under a bush. Every time DH and I walk by that bush we look for money.

My daughter and I were out for a walk once and we passed a Target bag on the sidewalk/corner of my block. It obviously had something in it- but we didn't look. The next day, we went for another walk and it was still there- so we picked it up. Inside was a wooden holiday decoration set- like for a foyer table. You could flip the blocks and shapes to make it spring, fall, summer or winter.
I always wondered how the heck it came to be sitting on the corner like that.

I found a $20 bill in a parking lot last winter. It was near Christmas so I put it in a Salvation Army donation kettle.

We found a wrench in the middle of the road last night. I would assume it fell off someone's truck. It was tiny, so we took it home. We also found a pair of Adidas slip on shoes the week before. Same road.

I have found all kinds of things on my walks. Feathers, change (never any paper money ), hair bands of all kinds of shapes and sizes, a used condom , nuts and bolts, a debit card and a i.d. and a library card.

$1200 and a digital camera. There was a group of homeless people hanging out not 50 feet away. It would have been a jackpot for them.
I called the police and posted on Craigslist but nobody ever claimed it. (My posting said that I had found a camera and something else--if you could identify the other thing I would give it back.) It sat next to my phone in a plastic bag for weeks. One morning as I was leaving the apartment I picked it up and stuck it in my purse. I have no idea why I did it that particular day. Anyway, my apartment was burglarized that day. The burglar would have gotten it.
If it were today I would have put a couple of pictures from the camera on facebook and I probably would find the owner. This was a few years before facebook. I gave the money to charity.

We were actually on bikes when my husband found a mast whip buoy in the rocks along the road. Since they're easily broken and at least $50 to replace he rode home carrying it like sir lancelot. It wad a funny sight to see!

I find softballs and baseballs that attract the dog as we are walking. One day we did find a crumpled up $20 bill in the parking spaces by the two ball fields that we walk by every day.

I found the empty wrapper to a condom in the middle of a busy downtown street sidewalk. It wasn't all brown and smooshed into the street but looked like it had been used recently.

A tackle box with weed bags in it. The cops had already been called by someone else, but they had yet to deal with it.
I went by a few days later and the box was still there, but empty. Hmmmmm

The first three days my daughter walked to meet her car pool she found a $5 bill on the sidewalk.
She was not too thrilled by the new found independence... now you can walk instead of me taking her, because while its not far about 3/4 a mile it is up a really steep hill the whole way. (ok from our house it is downhill to the main road, but it is so steep you have to be careful)
She is convinced that I left them there for her to find.
Its a major street to walk up the chances of me leaving them and her finding them.. slim. Though it is odd that she found them three days in a row!

My 10 year old has found two credit cards (separate times) outside of Target. We turned them both in to customer service.

I wonder if they set the bag on top of the car "temporarily" while they were loading things in their car after shopping at Target. Then they forgot about it and it stayed put until they rounded a corner....

I found $20. in a phone booth when I was a kid.
On our dog walks we don't find anything to interesting. The dogs have found tennis balls and a Mr Bill toy. I did find $5 once. But other than that the only thing was a dead squirrel.

I thought you guys might have them in the US. They are for making your car smell nice, but the scent is just too overpowering for my liking. It must have been a brave, or noseless person (Voldemort??) who had a bundle of approximately 15 of them in their car. Until they threw them on the street, where I saw them.

We weren't walking, but driving....(actually I talked hubby into taking me to Michaels) and he pulls over to the side of the road...puts on the flashers and dashes out of the car into the road....I am like what the heck!
He saw money blowing around and was picking it up...to the tune of over $300....(and honestly, this is not the first time he has noticed money flying around)....I NEVER see that

I found a wallet on the sidewalk as I was walking to work. I opened it to find the identification; it belonged to a co-worker. I looked up and he was ahead of me, so I was able to catch up with him and return it. He didn't even realize it was missing yet.

We do have them, but they are called air fresheners. We call them that aswell, but the particular brand shaped like trees are called Wunderbaums. I guess it's the most popular brand, cause that's just what we call ANY air freshener dangling in cars now. A more appropriate name would be Stinktrees
