He was coming home from work about 10 pm and a moose ran out in front of him. The moose pretty much did a Dukes of Hazard roll across the front of his car. Scared the crap out of my kid but he is fine. The moose, not so much.
We called the insurance company this morning and are now waiting for the adjuster to call. It is probably totaled, there is a lot of damage as moose are not small creatures.
Aww, the joys of living in the 49th state!

I'm also glad your son's okay. Was this revenge of last week's moose hunt? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)

Blimey! My friend hit a sheep in the Peak District and wrote her car off, so I imagine a moose would make quite an impression. Hope your soon is OK.

Yikes! I am glad he is ok. I hit a deer once with our van and it did a LOT of damage. They are much smaller than a moose!

Yikes! A friend of mine (also in Alaska) just posted a video on facebook of a baby moose in her yard.
My nephew was out hunting last night (in CO) and hit a mountain lion. It jumped out in front of him while he was driving back. The kitty and jeep were both fine, though.

Glad he is okay!
Did he get to keep it? In Montana it would be donated to the nearest tribal food bank.

So glad he is okay.
My husband and son hit a horse in Wyoming this summer. The amount of damage to our totaled car was unbelievable.

That would be so scary! Hitting a deer is crazy. We hit a calf once when i was a kid, in a 74 impala, probably the only thing that saved us. My sister hit a hog one time. #growingupiniowa

They are really cute when they are babies.

Actually here they have a "road kill" list. The troopers call down the list until they find someone willing to come out right away and get the meat. They can't leave it laying on the side of the road.

Moose are the worst, so glad your son is ok. With their long legs they so often fly up and over the vehicle which is often fatal for the passengers. Deer can do a lot of damage since they are small and go under but usually people are safer. We have so many huge herds (50-200) of elk here, it's scary with dark and winter coming.

Thank God he's ok! Last Fall my Dd, grandsons and SIL had a moose run out onto the highway and right into their Jetski and trailer. The Jetski was totaled but everyone in the truck was fine.

In the last 10 years or so the state has put up a lot of street lights in the areas that had a lot of moose kills.
It has helped cut down on the amount of moose/car accidents.
Unfortunately my son was on a dark road without street lights.

That's scary! They're such big animals, amd I'm always afraid to hit one of them (BIL did some years ago, he is lucky to be alive). I'm glad your DS is okay.

Wow! I'm glad your son is ok! How scary!
Today driving down the highway I saw the head of a bull on the side of the road! Just the head, no other body parts around. I wondered the whole length of my trip just what had happened to it.

Wow! A moose! Glad your son is ok!!
I did that with a deer, a full grown adult buck with horns (still obviously nowhere near moose sized). The thing seemed to drop and roll and ran off the side of the road, leaving my car steaming and fur covered (at least the front). I was so close to home, after a brief moment of "WTF do I do now?", I drove home. Dd was freaking out because of the steam coming out of the car. OK, I was a little too, especially as we got closer (was less than a mile), I realized it wasn't steam, but smoke. Car was not totaled but most of the front end was replaced. I was actually surprised how close it came to that and certainly think that a moose would likely total a car!
