There is a house in the next town over from me that has all their Halloween decorations up. Ghosts, spider webs, orange lights, etc... They had it decorated before Labor Day. It seems a little to early to me. Does anyone here like Halloween so much they put their decorations up in August?

Heavens, no. It's still summer. The soonest I would put up Halloween decorations is Oct 15, and that is even a little soon.

HOA doesn't allow decorating until the first of October. Even though I love Halloween, I usually end up decorating the weekend before. Our street goes crazy on Halloween. I give out around 1000 pieces of candy every year.

My husband and I LOVE Halloween ! I haven't decorated outside yet; I don't want my neighbors to think we're totally crazy. Actually I think they know that already ! LOL ! This past Monday I did take out all my Halloween dishes, glasses and mugs; we've been using them all week and loving every moment. We usually decorate the last week in September outside and the rest of inside too.

My thought when I read the title:

I usually put my autumn stuff out the last week of September and then Halloween things go out after Thanksgiving (October 11th in my neck of the woods). I pull the Halloween decorations down right after the 31st but I leave the rest of the autumn things until the first of December.

My thought when I read the title: anyone who answers yes will be put on ignore I guess you'd better put me on ignore, dh wanted to put up decorations and I said it was to early and then he pointed out some stuff that has been up all year. ..haha, i guess I'm blind to it now because it's just been up so long. ..in my defense one sign was above my eye level and two things he hung up, scary portraits that change, they are lenticular.

We used to have a guy who decorated for Halloween like it was a 2nd Christmas. Unfortunately he stopped a couple of years ago.

I bought an awesome raven pillow from Michael's and I have that out on my couch. I have my "autumn" decorations up even though it was 92 degrees here today. I like to pretend, lol.

I don't mind the fall decorations everyone is putting up even though it is really hot out. I'm thinking of putting up my Fall decorations myself but it's just too early for Halloween.

Ehh...I must be lazy or whatever, but I like to get more than a weeks use out of my halloween decorations. (That or I'm too lazy to go to the trouble of putting them up or taking them down within a 2-3 week time period lol). I am talking only of inside decorations, I don't really do outside halloween decor. I have 2-3 distinct areas in my house where I group all of my halloween decor - a super long floating shelf in the family room (think larger than a mantle),and a bookshelf and top of a hutch in my dining room. That's where all my "spooky" stuff goes, it's not scattered all throughout the house. I put up both fall and halloween sometime around the middle of September, in fact right now I've got my boxes spread out in the dining room and working at it as I have time the past week (and there hasn't been much lol). I leave everything up until sometime in November, but have it all put away so that the day after thanksgiving we are good to go with Christmas decor. I never host thanksgiving so that's not a problem. And as far as the weather? We'll I'm more of a cool weather person anyway, so I'm always eager to ditch the heat of summer - not to mention that I love all the colors for fall decorating. It was rainy and 60 ish here yesterday, which starts to make it a damp chilly rain, but I was enjoying it ( loosely termed lol) because I was finally able to wear jeans again and not roast in them

I made a really cool wall hanging last year of a mummy that I didn't finish until after Halloween so I was thinking of hanging it this week. But it will just be in my front hall.

No, not yet, but our grocery store had their candy and décor up and for sale before Labor Day. Ugh. Too early!

Do spiderwebs on my porch count? Lol.
My porch looks like it's decorated already but I can't take those suckers down, because they trap and eat the bugs that I hate even more!

I only put out my few outside Halloween decorations after the middle of October, usually the week before Halloween. But the indoor decorations are up by the end of September. I'm thinking I want to get them out and decorate next weekend. I love Halloween, but it seems like October just flies by and I feel like I don't get quite enough time to really enjoy my indoor decorations if I wait until October to put them out.

No decorations as yet, but I have bought the trick or treat candy! And you will still have it on October 31?? Good for you! In my house, it would be gone in two weeks. That's a joke. One week, tops!

This is so funny. I asked a neighbor if she'd hate me. I need to thin my decoration stash. The best way is for me to put up what I want to use and see what's left.
I didn't clean out enough Christmas last year either. So I'll be doing the same later. I want to donate them while others can use them.

Anyone ordered the Stampin Up witch's hat decoration? It is gorgeous. My decopatched pumpkin with LED tea lights is all that goes up here. On 31st October.

Man! I WISH we decorated for Halloween in this country. I really should commute to the US and live there all through October, just to be in a country that appreciates Halloween as much as I do! It gets bigger in Norway every year, but we are nowhere near the point where it's 'normal' to decorate for Halloween. I hope Halloween grows bigger and bigger every year, and I will be the crazy Halloween-lady with the crazy decorations all over the house! Cause you gotta have goals... And then I wouldn't even get a tree for Christmas, because I'm not a very Christmassy person.

There's one house in my neighborhood that has theirs up early every year. I know them and their kids love it, so it doesn't bother me.

Indoor stuff, yes, I did it Labour Day weekend. I still had my Canada Day stuff out and swapped it.
I don't put any outdoor stuff out until the week of, except for a few pumpkins on the porch.

rainangel I admit, I never thought about other countries decorating for Halloween, or not. Add it to my " Learned from Peas" list! Thank you! Decorating in the USA has gotten more extreme in the last 10-20 years. What say the Peas- Martha Stewart influence? HGTV?

No decorations up yet, but I told the girls they could have a party this year, so we went out thrifting yesterday in search of well-loved baby dolls we could maim and other supplies to make our house extra spooky. We'll probably start putting up indoor decorations this week. Outdoors will wait until at least Oct 1 so the neighbors don't think we're as crazy as we really are. We just bought a treadmill and it came in a box that is perfect for a coffin--can't wait!

rainangel I admit, I never thought about other countries decorating for Halloween, or not. I guess when we watch so many movies and tv-shows that celebrate Halloween, we get influenced. And Halloween IS pretty cool! Dress-up, scary stuff and candy galore! Kids want to be a part of that! The older generations don't care for it, because it's ' an American thing, why should we import it?'. But every year there are more and more Trick or Treaters coming round, so most people, even the older generation, have started to buy some candy to hand out. It is nowhere near US proportions of course, but I can literally SEE that it grows bigger and more accepted every year. Which is great for me We do try to tell our children to only import the 'good' parts of Halloween, we don't Trick people. We don't TP anyone's house, and we understand that a lot of houses don't give candy on Halloween because not everyone celebrates it.
