I'm on the knitting site Ravelry. There is a lady on an Indonesian/Dutch forum and her name is Jeannette. She started a post that I replied to and she commented that she has an older sister named Ingrid. I said that's so funny, I have an older sister named Jeannette.
A week later I'm on the phone placing an order with one of my distributors. The distributor is a huge company in Washington state with tons of reps that answer the phones. The lady asks for my account # and name. When I say "Ingrid" she says "that's my name too". We start chatting and she says that her mom is Dutch. I chime in and say 'so is my dad'. It ends up that "distributor Ingrid" is the sister of "Ravelry Jeannette". What are the odds of that!
Anyone else have any small world coincidences?

I met my SO online. He lived in Massachusetts and I lived in Ohio. In conversation, he mentioned that he had an uncle who'd moved to Ohio and had worked at a certain hospital. My aunt and uncle ALSO worked at that hospital, which was funny enough, but it turned out they knew each other and in fact, his uncle had taught them how to eat lobster.

Years ago my late DH and I ran into good friends of ours on a beach in Mazatlan. They had moved to Spokane and we were living in ND. Neither of us had any idea the other couple was going. They were staying with relatives but when we got together they spent the next three nights in our hotel room with us

When we lived in Portland (not a small city!) new people moved into the apartment next door. Turns out one of them knew DH from work.
When we moved here (also not a small city) we discovered the lady right next door used to work with DH (until she retired). Unfortunately DH can't stand her.
Next time we move we are interviewing the neighbors to make sure we don't know them from DH's work...
The funny part is DH is pretty anti-social and I know more people than he does, but we never moved next door to anyone I know...

I have another one. 15 years ago I met a pea on the old board. (I believe there were roughly 15,000 members at the time?) We replied to the same thread and decided to take it off the board because we were dominating whatever the post was about. It ends up that she lives 10 minutes from me and is a teacher in the same school district that my 2 oldest daughters went to. We got together shortly thereafter and to this day I consider her one of my dearest friends!

I don't know if this is coincidence, but kind of funny. A girl I went to school with when I lived OR, now lives in Spokane, WA and I live in Ventura, CA. I let her know I would be in that area next week and would love to see her, to which she replied, "oh I'd love to, but I'm going to be in Ventura for a wedding that week." Lol

When I was living in Australia and about to pack up and head back home to Norway, I was a member of a scrapbookingforum for Norwegians. There was someone posting a question if they knew where to get rugby-themed papers. She had family in England that were rugby fans, but rugby is not a big sport in Norway, so none of the Norwegian scrapbookingstores had rugby-themed papers or stickers. I replied that I could easily find rugby-themed scrapbookingstuff in Australia as it's THE sport over there. I also said I was going back to Norway in a few days, so it would be quicker for me to just bring the rugbypapers on the plane, and then send them to her when I got back to Norway. Turns out she lived in the same small town as me in Norway! And that my dad and her dad grew up together! We are to this day BFF's, and our dads always enjoys helping us out with moving heavy stuff if that means the two of them get to meet up and reminisce about the good old days. Oh, and I have just started reading 'A Stranger Beside Me' by Ann Rule, and her 'small world' story that she writes about in that book is the creepiest one yet. For those of you who haven't read it: She wrote crimestories for newspapers back in the day, and one of the stories she wrote about was a serial killer. Years later this serial killer gets caught. Turns out it was Ted Bundy. And Ann Rule worked with him during the time she was writing crimestories about the unknown serial killer who turned out to be Ted Bundy.

I live in the Houston area now, but I'm originally from a small town in Oklahoma.
My lifelong friend, E, grew up in my hometown, went to law school in Tennessee and now lives in North Carolina. E met B while they were attending law school in Tennessee and they became close friends. B now lives in Dallas. My daughter went to an out of state school and pledged a sorority. B's daughter went to the same school a year later and happened to pledge the same sorority. E figured out the connection through Facebook posts. My daughter and B's daughter have become close friends. B and I got to know each other on Mom's weekend and now we are friends.
Sometimes I can't believe how small the world is!

When I worked at a call center in 1998 there was one of those get to know you meetings. A lady said her maiden name and it's different. So I said that was my grandma's maiden name! Turned out her grandpa was my great uncle!
The weirdest was a high school classmate who saw our friend's grandma at the top of the Eiffel Tower. They had their picture taken together.

Back when I was little and just in Kindergarten, my Mom had gone back to work as a hairdresser a couple days per week. My brother and I went to a babysitter on the Friday - him all day, me after school for the afternoon.
When my oldest started Grade 9, we carpooled to another city for an arts program. Tuesday was my day to drive in and home, so I'd hang in town. And got to know a fellow cake gal, who has since become one of my best pals. We were chatting about where we had grown up, and she mentioned her Grandmother living beside the school I had gone to in Kindergarten.
Turns out, her Grandmother had been my babysitter! (ok she's WAY younger than I am lol) Her Mom & Uncle were teenagers when we were there.
VERY small world!!

Boyfriend of a friend at LSU comes to visit from Florida right before he leaves for Air Force boot camp. Two years later I bump into said boyfriend (now an A1C) at the Army PX on Abrahm's Kaserne in Frankfurt, Germany.

A couple of years ago, DH and I were a the wedding reception of a work associate of his. We started chatting with another couple at our table. The wife mentioned being from MI, and I said I was from MI too (we all live in Vegas now). She said she was raised in Battle Creek. When I told her that was where my dads family was from, she asked what my maiden name was. Her jaw hit the floor (very unusual name), and asked if I was related to Donny? Turns out she had gone to her SR prom with my first cousin 25 years earlier.

A former coworker of mine: He and I were born on the same day of the same year. He has the same first name as my brother. His brother has the same first name as my father. His sister and my sister's first names are one letter different. And he is awesome when so many of my coworkers are weirdos.
A lot of coincidences in one person!

in my family it's about birthdays, specifically August 9. My dd was born on that day - and so was my dh's father, sister, & his brother's wife. In addition one of my friends has that birthday & so does my co-workers daughter. Its really very bizarre.

My stepdaughter briefly--for about two weeks-- attended a home preschool, but then they moved from the area. She never went to school in the area, but after graduating college she moved back here. She met her husband online and it turns out it was his mother's home preschool she'd attended and they even had a video that has her in it.

Chatting with a guy on an online dating site, the regular initial back and forth questions. He tells me where he works and I said that my dad had worked with that company his entire career. He tells me his Dad was with the same company as well. We did some chatting about our parents ages and the various locations we had both been transferred to growing up and figured since both dads had been in management there was enough of a common thread for them to know each other. He asked his dad who said they used to party hard together back in the day and my mom said his dad had actually stayed at our house when I was a small child, so I actually had met his dad. in 2 weeks we will have been dating for a year

I had a high school friend named Kim and when she and I got in touch on FB, I saw a picture of her dh and realized he had been at my wedding 20+ years prior with his wife. However, his wife back then was my college friend, who was also named Kim! So, he married twice to women named Kim and I was friends with both of them at different times in my life.

When I met my husband for the first time we talked for hours. I knew he was divorced and somewhere in the conversation he mentioned his ex-wife's name. Much later in the evening, after finding out where I grew up he said that was the same small town his ex was from. I immediately started thinking of all the people I knew with that first name, and then asked him which one was his ex. Turns out she was a year ahead of me in school, in my brother's class and one of her brothers was in my class. Her parents and my parents had known each other forever and our mothers have the same first name; we joke that all his mothers-in-law have that name.
He had also worked at the same place as my sister's husband. And we are friends with his ex and her husband.

We've had a few over the years, but I don't always remember them.
I had one way back in the twopeas days. I ran into a fellow pea at our kids preschool, the kids (now seniors in high school) even ended up in the same class.
Oldest dd became friends with a girl in high school and found out they went to the same preschool together.
Most recently we found out that one of the girls on youngest dd's club soccer team is cousins with EX's on-again/off-again girlfriend. The weird thing about that is that the club team isn't local. We travel about an hour for dd to play on this team. The mom of the player recognized EX from a wedding they had attended. I will admit this one is a bit awkward since EX and I have an unusual relationship with us spending a lot of time together and I even work for him which the girlfriend isn't happy about.
Also, recently I was reading a blog post and one of my dd's classmates was in one of the pictures. I don't know the blogger in real life (and can't even remember how I stumbled on her blog but pretty sure it wasn't through anyone I knew) and they don't live in the same state as us.

When BFF and I first became friends, I was always lamenting about who had to pick up Piper from daycare, me or DH. Piper was a biter and we tried to avoid the parents of the children she bit...I know, I know! She really liked to bite Sam.
So BFF, would occasionally talk about her other friend Lori, and one night when she and Lori got to talking, Lori mentioned how upset she was that Sam kept getting bit by a little girl at daycare....you know where this is going right.... BFF said "does her name happen to be Piper?"
Suffice it to say, Lori has never been real fond of yours truly, but BFF and I are still going strong! LOL

When I was in college and back packing around Europe, my friends and I stayed in a Tent in Munich. It was a giant tent like the size of a football field, and you just slept on a matt on the ground. We ran into these two very handsome guys from California all over the Europe, the were on the same general route as we were. At the tent they said they had meet two other girls from Kansas and we all joked.. if they are from Kansas we must know them... ha ha ha.
The next day we were drinking beers in the Hofbrauhaus in Munich.. also a HUGE place and I see one of my friends from high school walk by. I chase her down, and it turns out she and her friend from college were also traveling around Europe and had met the same guys from California. They had also hung out with them in Switzerland!
We all travelled together for the next 4 nights. It was crazy fun!
I still keep up with all the friends from Kansas but lost touch years ago with the hunky guys from California.

Well in my experience and after reading The Celestine Prophecy I call them synchronicities. And according to my Mayan Galactic Signature I am a magnet to them. Well way before I found this out I had many experiences of syncs to affirm this. So I get these a lot and I love it. So I will share the less far fetched sounding ones: So my birthday is 3-16 and my boyfriend's is 11-17 ( and our daughter's is 1-18 ) And I see both these numbers/dates all the time. When my boyfriend and I were at the store he told me to look at the ingredients on this box of Lipton flavored drink and the best by date was Nov1716pw3 ( I put the most far fetched one first ) At work when was checking for drinks out of date the only 2 front minute maid drinks that are side by side in the cooler had the expiration dates of the orange juice 11-17 and the apple juice 3-16. Then when I was watching one of my 2 favorite episodes of My So Called Life recordings ( Self Esteem ) I noticed afterward that the date it first aired was 11-17 and the recorded date was 3-16. When I was cleaning out our old desk I found our daughter's birth certificate and there they were again. I laughed to myself after realizing the "duh" realization Sometimes I will get 136 syncs or 361 syncs but I haven't noticed any 631 that I recall. Sure people say it doesn't count cause it's out of order. And I tell them they are numbers, not an amount. I've had too many experiences noticing these "out of order" numbers in a row to dismiss them as not significant. There were a ton of opportunities for numbers to show up at work and I found 316 all over the place. It was the 316 underlined when I scratched off someone's scratcher ticket. $3.16 was an amount of someone's purchase. When I did inventory the order of drinks to get was 3 cokes, 1 Pepsi, and 6 rockstars, someone told me a customer left their ID on the counter and gave it to me and their birthday on it was 3-16. Sure some of these could be non- significant like a customer wanting 16 dollars on pump 3, but when it happens in a row 5 times in a matter of 20 minutes you know something is going on. ( I took a picture of all those happenings together to remember that day ... actually it happened more than one day. ) What's been happening lately is I will be reading something while the tv is on and when I read a word the tv says it. Yes far fetched maybe ..but while watching an episode of Tanked I was on fb and when reading the same thread within 30 seconds when I read degrees the tv said Degrees. When I read crazy the tv said Crazy And when I read shaky the tv said Shake. ( I think crazy and shake were a sonic commercial ) But I notice when I wait for it to happen it won't, it's always a surprise. Synchronicities don't vibe with expectations Ok let me find my notes to share the rest ( in another post )

When DH and I were dating, we moved into a new apartment. In the parking lot, we ran into someone he worked with. We laughed about how we live in the same complex. Then we laughed again when we walked to the same building in the complex. Then we laughed again when we all walked to the 3rd floor and realized we were neighbors.
