I found out last night that my boss, who I respect, likes Trump! I was amazed, she is an intelligent person, and can't believe that she thinks he would be any good in leadership. I don't know who I am going to support, but it sure won't be Trump. Think about it. Your boss. Whom you respect. You respect her business sense, possibly? Trump is a successful businessman. That's a qualification that is sadly lacking in most politicians. I can accept that as a legitimate reason to support him. BTW - I could also accept that voting for Obama because he was black (or biracial) was a legitimate reason people support(ed) him. No matter how his terms in office will be remembered, this was an enormous step forward for the country.

a friend and I were just talking about this last night. I can't imagine anyone truly supporting him, and if a friend did I'd seriously rethink that friendship. Her theory, and she's conservative, is that it's a ploy by the democrats to make the republicans look like buffoons. I'm not much for conspiracy theories but I'm starting to wonder about this myself. He is soooo over-the-top awful that I find it hard to believe he's serious. I wish I could take even a tiny smidgen of comfort in thinking this is a ploy or conspiracy (and how crazy does that make me look) but the man has history aplenty on other matters- business wars, sundry feuds and so on- which indicate to me he is serious. He truly does believe his own myth. Having it reflected back to him by all of these new minions reinforces his belief and so we go 'round again. OP, I didn't vote as I am international, don't want to skew the numbers.

I didn't vote in the poll. I don't really get into the candidates until it gets closer to election time. However, I have a couple of things to say..
1) I like that Trump tells it like it is. That alone does not mean I would vote for him. On the other side of that,I also believe what he says is his truth and each person has to decide if that is what they really believe or not.
2) Many of the potential candidates were at the Iowa/Iowa State pregame last weekend. My family was close to where they were and my mom said that Trump had, by far, the most people waiting for him. Whether or not they support him, I don't know but I did think that was interesting.

I try to stay out of political threads, but I'm curious about those who support Trump. Is it because he's a straight talker, non-politician ask because today my DH gave his college students the assignment to go to Clinton and Trump's websites and write about their stances on the issues. He found out that on Trump's site, he only lists ONE issue. Immigration. That's it. No, or because of his policies. I other issues are even listed. I am really trying to understand what about him attracts supporters. It doesn't seem like he has any constructive solutions to any problems. He just likes to call people names. What is it about him that people like? not pc, straight talker (?), hitting some problems that really need fixed and others are afraid to speak out on them...
other than that (and who knows if he's telling the truth on some of those), he's a bully - he's the greatest, God's gift to the US (ha!) - watch (listen) for the ocean to rise (tsunami?), angels to appear in the sky and sing his praises... noooo one can do it as 'good' as he does. He knows everything and everyone... everyone is stupid but him and those he says aren't stupid.
sounds way to familiar...

One more bump to try to catch everyone if y'all don't mind- in honor of the CNN Republican Debate tonight. I watched the initial 4 candidates and am waiting for the 'top tier' group to get their turn.
