No. This summer is just going so fast and if we don't get started early it will be over before we know and Christmas will be here. Sadly.

Not too early at all. The fruit in Niagara is so fresh right now, so this is when I can brandied peaches and brandied cherries. Plus, it does take a few months for the flavours to meld together nicely.
I tend to make many gifts, such as canning peaches for my nieces (they have young families), making rag or I-spy type quilts.
Also going on vacation next month, so I love to get unusual gifts when I travel. So far I have purchased Cuban Honey and Icelandic Volcanic Salt crystals. Will be getting paprika (Hungary) & Christmas ornaments (Germany).

I'm making MORE scrapbook type family recipes cook books, for cousins this year (the gals AND the guys) And I have no idea what to do for siblings (more of the same?) or our "kids."
The cookbooks I made for the nieces really went over well last Christmas.

Not too early for me. I'm going to try my hand at glass etching. Wal-Mart sells clear glass bottles with the pour spout that I want to etch DISHES on for dishwashing liquid. Hope I can pull this off because I've already ordered sponges shaped and colored like a dishwashing liquid bottle to go with the etched bottles. Will probably include a dish towel as well. I'm also planning on packaging together the ingredients for the stove top potpourri for my co-workers.

Ornaments These are the ones I want to make. They're all cute, but I like the ones in the little tart tins. Actually, down in the page, there's one made from a star cookie-cutter which is pretty cute. I'm collecting the tins from garage sales/flea market and have quite a few. I'll use pics of grandparents, etc.

omg that Chip mug is adorable!! My dh's favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast! lol So you can use sharpies, but you have to bake the item to set the color? I've never heard of that.

Love this! My son fancies himself an artiste. I am putting his creativity to work on some mugs for our family. Thanks!

Yes, Sharlag, that opens up a whole bunch of possibilities! We doodle/zentangle here and it would be pretty awesome to do on a white mug.

Not at all for me. I'm knee deep in Halloween swap projects and beginning Christmas very soon. I love making holiday crafts in Summer as my Falll is beyond busy. And this year my second child is coming Oct. 18 so my vanilla vodka and other gifts will be ready since I'm doing them now.

I browse Pinterest, but I find it more overwhelming than inspiring. I get sucked into spending too much time looking and not enough time crafting!
It's like shopping in the giant mall where you don't want to commit to the first thing you see because you might find something you like better later. My decision making ability goes right out the window when I have too many choices.

I'm hoping to get some good pictures of the kids on vacation-that will be my primary material for gifts. Probably mugs and calendars and such. I don't know if I'll actually make anything myself though.

Never too early to start crafting or shopping for Christmas. When I see the perfect gift for someone, I always pick it up. My eye is always looking.

I don't think they need to be hand washed if you use the correct Sharpie Paint Markers. I could be wrong and if I am it's Sharla's fault! Seriously Sharla, thanks for posting it. I steer clear of Pinterest. Too much of a time suck. Plus I wouldn't have enough time to spend here!

Everyone that I know that has tried the Sharpie baked on a mug labels it as a "Pinterest Fail" - LOL!
I think you need to use ceramic paint pens.

I was actually just thinking to myself the other day about what I was going to do for gifts this year. Last year I made everyone in the extended family blankets. They all loved them as I chose material individually for each person. I need to come up with something for this year. I just hate buying gifts. Please keep your ideas coming.

I've been waiting for someone to start this thread! I usually try to get inspired during the summer and start some of my homemade gifts when the kids go back to school in August.

While I think the rust can add to it I'm kind of afraid that storing them with others might somehow make the other ones get funky. I hope you'll post pictures when you make some.

Those are really cute and would definitely make great gifts. I've got an extended family member who is crazy about Beauty and the Beast so that Chip cup would make the perfect gift. Thanks for the link.
