I think they've always played to an older audience. I think they are being less subtle now. That commercial cracked me up too!

The muppets outside of Sesame Street have always been targeted at adult audiences. I'm not sure it is more blatent now but certainly society is more tolerant of some topics that previously had been taboo even among adults. Watch some of the older movies if you can. You'll see a lot of stuff you didn't understand in quite the same way as a kid.

I guess when watching it as a kid those types of comments went over our heads. ..lol I agree! I remember watching Footloose over and over. One day I started quoting one of the lines and my sisters mouths dropped open and said DO NOT let mom hear you say that! Do not repeat it again! I was mainly watching for the songs and dancing.

i'm looking forward to the muppets maybe it's nostalgia?! DH is the same way- he can't wait. I honestly don't see this appealing to the younger (under 30?) demographic at all. It's got to be geared toward those who watched it the first time around.
