I've been in a grouchy mood today and I need to get over myself. What better than to be thankful?!
*I'm thankful for the beautiful voicemail my uncle left me this morning. I don't get to see him often but he came from out of state to visit and have dinner with us. It was a wonderful time and he left the nicest voicemail of thanks. It gave me all kinds of warm fuzzies.
*I'm thankful for my DH and the fact that we make a good team. We went away for our anniversary last weekend and he made it so special. I really appreciate him!
*I'm thankful that my adult kids still want to hang out with us. I love that they make coming over a priority and choose to do things with us frequently. I'm thankful that they maintain close relationships with their younger brothers and take time for them too.

My husband....he does him job well, he cares. He will work a 12 hour shift, train a new deputy, have the patience to explain, come home and sleep. Then he gets up cooks with us, does what ever needs done and then starts all over. This weekend we've done soccer, school projects, built a nightstand, 2 vegetable boxes and still found time to clean his patrol car.

I am thankful that I turned on CNN this morning in time to watch Pope Francis at the prison. I watched a man who hugged, blessed and acknowledge those that would be considered to be less than. I watched a man who basically said with his deeds that ALL are welcome in my house. His message of love and inclusiveness is was an amazing sight to see.
Afterwards, I felt that I saw more Christianity in those moments than in all the years of being preached at.

I am thankful to be able to tend my flowers today. After living in a condo with no flower garden for seven years, I now have a house with lots of flowers. And I am thankful for Facebook. Because I get to see so many photos of my grandchildren and the things they do. ?

Grumble. Grumble. I am a crabby pants today. I am not thankful, but you just go on with your thankfulness. Perhaps it will inspire me.

My husband was hit today by a man who didn't stop at a stop sign. My husband drives a big quad cab truck. The car hit him on the tire and the huge truck flipped on his side. It is totaled. My husband is sore and has some nice abrasions. I am thankful the other driver has insurance, my husband's doctor is a family friend and will check him out tomorrow, and most importantly, my husband will be fine. He is sad he lost his prized possession though.

My husband - he's my rock and best friend. My cousin who made an unexpected surprise visit on Friday. She's here till Monday and I love that she flew in to just say 'hi' and surprise me. For the phone calls from my kids that are away at college. Nothing is sweeter than a call from them saying "hey madre, I miss you!" or "hey mumzie, how do you make your lasagna? I was telling everyone you made the best and now I need the recipe" Life is good

I am thankful for my pretty much drama free family, for my job, my home and my car. I am thankful and blessed I never have to worry about where my next meal will come from. I am so very thankful I live where we experience all the seasons and especially fall--it's my favorite.

I am thankful that my HS senior DD, who has been ambivalent about picking a college, finally visited a school that she likes. And it is the perfect distance from home (about a 3 hour drive)! She's slightly about average with her stats, so she should have a good shot for admission and merit aid. Fingers crossed!
I am thankful that my HS freshman DDs have transitioned well into high school and both seem to be finding places for themselves.
I am thankful for my awesome DH who picks up the slack when I am working crazy long hours and never complains about it.

That last night my husband spent the night with my daughter and I in the hospital and yesterday the 4 of us were all together (I now only see my son once a week:(. ) My best friend who now lives in California flew out to see Phoebe and I. She spent hours with me here talking and just spending time with both of us-we have been friends since we were 9. That we had a good day with my daughter and got to talk for a good stretch about her treatment plan with our doctor.

That no peas attended the baby shower my nursing school classmates threw me for my--GASP-- second baby. I'd hate to have a thread dedicated to me about the gift grabbing behavior.

Scratch that bitchy answer-- I'm thankful that it was a beautiful day and I am able to run again, which my IT band prevented for a year. I'm not so fast as before but it feels great to be able to do it!

I am thankful for the love, laughter, and lap time I got with my very special cat I lost last Saturday. She was blind and wondered up with her seeing eye cat (no joke!) to my mom's house in West Texas nearly 10 years ago. We adopted her Thanksgiving 2013. She was perfect in every way and I told her numerous times I was thankful to be her mama. I miss you, sweet Magoo.
And I'm thankful for my husband. I married my best friend and his heart is as big as mine when it comes to animals. I love sharing my life with him.

I am so thankful I had a scrapbooking weekend this weekend. The getaway and girl time was so, so nice. I got 15 layouts done. Almost all of 2014 is finished. I've got only 3 more layouts to go.

I'm thankful for threads like these that get me to look for the good in the day, even on days that aren't particularly good. I've had a headache all day.

I dug deep and finished the hardest 66 mile bike ride ever! I cried at one point because I felt as if the hills we never going to stop. Sag asked me twice if I could make it...it was tough, but I finished. My legs feel like I ran a marathon, and the girlie bits? O. M. G. I've done a ride around Lake Tahoe and that was simple compared to what I did today.

My gratitude list are always super random so here it goes....
1. Cold water. When I see people in some other countries don't have clean water I feel so grateful. I not only get clean but cold. Its all I drink and I love it.
2. My health. I have one condition that I would love to not have but outside of that I have much to be grateful for. I was once very overweight and I know had I stayed that weight I likely would be facing some health issues at this stage of life. When I was very heavy I was in my late 20's and young 30's and it hadn't caught up with me yet. I am free to move, have plenty of energy and feel very good.
3. Headphones. I use them daily for music, podcast and phone calls. It makes life so much easier. Wireless, comfortable and hands free! I use them while I clean, when I wake early and don't want to wake anyone, when I am out and about, going on a walk and it makes things so much easier and enjoyable.
4. For my mom. She is one of my best friends and I am so grateful for her. She is an amazing woman and I can't imagine life without her. My kids adore her and have a close relationship with her. She is one in a trillion and so grateful God gave me as my mom.
5. My boys. They are my gift and treasure. Motherhood has been the hardest journey I have ever walked. 3 young men who are very far apart in age and are so very different from one another.
6. My husband. For not giving up, for listening, for staying, for doing the good, not so good, very good and that was a lot more difficult than we imagined. We celebrate 10 years of marriage together next month.
7. AC because in Texas you still need in into October.
8. Early mornings. I love to wake early. If I wake by 5 I am happy. It gives me a jump start on the day and usually alone which I like.

Love this thread!
I am thankful for:
1. Saturday was Public Lands Day and admission to Yelowstone was free. We had the most wonderful day there- full of fun and laughter and adventure and memories made. A rare perfect day.
2. The temps are a bit cooler and fall colors are starting to show.
3. My little humble abode. I love my house. We live "small homes grow tight families".
4. The best bosses ever- they (husband and wife) paid for and arranged a 4 day weekend away for me at a review course for a big upcoming board review. AND they took care of my girls all weekend. AND they cleaned my entire house and decorated for fall while I was gone. Amazing people!
5. My master gardener dad brought over a huge bag of fresh garden tomatoes for us to enjoy. Nothing like them!

I am really grateful for my husband. He got up at 4:30 am on his day off to make me breakfast before I had to head to the rink. He brought me back breakfast from our favorite coffee shop on both Saturday and Sunday. He was super sweet to me at the game on Sunday.
I am grateful that both my kids like me and want to be around me some. I didn't get along with my mom from ages 12 - 27. Grateful to have a good relationship with my kids.

I'm not too far into my day but I'm still grateful for many things.
My health - I had a sore throat last week but am feeling good this week. My family - I have an awesome family and we are all good friends. E-mail and facebook - I get to stay in contact with family and friends from all over the country. I'm also thankful for the leftover cheddar/broccoli soup I had for breakfast. It was so good.

1) My big incision finally closed this week. My surgery was on June 1st and my incision opened a couple of weeks later. It was a long summer of no swimming, bandage changes, and annoyance but it's finally closed all the way. I celebrated this weekend by taking the kids on a road trip to meet up with my brother. We went swimming! I blogged my incision progress but fair warning! There are gory post-surgery pics so if that kind of stuff makes you woozy, don't click. Incision progress2) My kids for being such good road trip buddies over the weekend. It was a long way but they made it fun and actually got along. Nice. 3) My husband. We left him home alone (we even took the dogs!) so he could have a weekend to eat meat and watch football and have some quiet. But when we got home yesterday, he'd cleaned the whole house, done all the laundry, and there were fresh sheets on all the beds. Best. Husband. Ever.
