Anywhere specific you refuse to stop? I adore Sheetz. Good coffee, clean bathrooms and just about any kind of lunch you would want. It's easy to make everyone happy. I'll hold it for 40 miles in order to pee at Sheetz. Well, i'm getting older, maybe i'll hold it for 20 miles I hate a 7-11 bathroom. If they have them all they are funk nasty. I won't use bathrooms where the entrance is outside instead of in the store or if I have to use a key to get in. They just seem so gross. I'm pretty picky about rest stops but they're a lot cleaner and a lot less creepy in a lot of places lately it seems. So, have a favorite place to pee when you're on the road? I like to be prepared for when I travel in areas without a Sheetz!

I hate 7-11. Most here do not have bathrooms. The food is not as good as other places.
We like wasa and quick check both are very similar to each other but they are both only in the tristate area.
Btw Ive been to sheetz and like them also.

Love's and Flying J. Gas prices are usually pretty competitive as well!

I can't say I have a favorite spot, when you gotta go, you gotta go, but we try to hit a McDonalds or other fast food place. Otherwise, a highway rest stop, but not at night. Like you, I don't like the outside or key thing - they're usually disgusting.

Buccee's
Seriously the cleanest, nicest, best bathrooms ever. Each stall is like a room to itself. The walls go all the way to the floor, there's a full, regular door; there's disinfectant, Kleenex, and hand sanitizer in each stall.
Plus good food and drinks and anything we may have forgotten to pack!

I will only stop at truck stops, large newer gas stations, Panera or Jimmy Johns to pee on the road. DH thinks I'm a neurotic fool but he indulges me. I'm glad to know there are other people with standards out there.

Our equivalent of Sheetz is Quiktrip - I like stopping there or Raceway because they are clean, have more than one stall and you can also get a drink or snack for a good price while you are there. If there aren't any near, then I will stop at McDonalds because they are busy and have a lot if people, I like to stop where there are plenty of people around.

There's a Pilot at Lodi Station that we stop at when we are doing that run on I-71. Oh and the westbound rest stop on I-90 PA/NY border is gorgeous views and nice inside.
Some of the Ohio I-71 rest stops are a bit too creepy.

When I had to drive from the Midwest to California there was a truck stop along the way with a sign that claimed they had the cleanest bathrooms in the country. I had to check them out, it was like a resort in the middle of nowhere. I didn't want to leave. The stall was larger than my college apartment and it was truly the cleanest bathroom I have ever used.

Depends on what kind of road you're talking about. On the highway I'll stop wherever if I have to pee bad enough. I can still hover and when you gotta go... On a dirt road in the middle of nowhere? I'll pee couched down hanging on to the bumper of the car. It's a skill every North Dakota girl learned as a small child and comes in very handy when you're a teenager My 89 year old Mother can probably still do it

There is a Texas Best Smokehouse (restaurant and gas station) on I-20 between Tyler And Longview Texas with the most fabulous bathroom I have ever visited. It's a walk-in without a door (no germy door handles), beautiful granite, tile and full-length doors on each stall. No gaps in the doors and all the locks are properly functional. Auto everything. Always sparkling clean and well-stocked.
I do not go in rest areas.

After a couple of horrid gas station experiences I will only stop at Starbucks, Home Depots or where we plan to eat.

A bigger truck stop that has food, gas, snacks, etc. Loves, Quicktrip, etc
Hampton Inns are also nice if you need to go #2 or need a but more privacy. There's always a single bathroom on the first floor not too far from the front desk area. And they're always clean.

They make their own brand of food and have a grocery section with their brand of salsa, quest, pickles, pickled veggies, chips, candy and tons of other stuff. My kids love to count down the mikes to Buccee's. They have tons of billboards on the highway that count down how close you are starting at 123 miles out, lol.

If we go out and I have even one glass of wine I simply can not make it all the way home without having to go. My husband knows right where to pull over

Yes, it's a skill every North Dakota girl learned as a small child--because for instance, there are no public restrooms between Max and Minot, and it's a long way if you have to go.

I really don't knoww. I guess I don't have a favorite spot. I do tend to stop at the same places when driving the same route. But that is more habit then favoritism I do like Starbucks for their unisex and clean restrooms.

I was born in North Dakota and on family road trips to North Dakota to visit family we only stopped on the road. Must be a North Dakota thing. I do remember thinking we were living large when we actually found an out house. This was in the 70's. I am sure they have bathrooms now.

But Wawas can give them a push. Maybe not in the restroom area but in other services. And Wawas have moved into Florida!!! Strange thing to bring back memories, right?

Sheetz Flying J's Loves
I'm one of those weird people who love a good gas station that has a diner and cool shops in them. Also for as much as I have traveled the BEST hamburger I ever ate was in a small country town back home in Texas. I had never ate anything from this place and honestly from the looks of it I wouldn't have but it was bought for me so I tried it and omg! Fresh veggies on the burger, they pat their meat out by hand and bake their buns. I was shocked.
