Do you catch up on all your household chores and running errands on your day(s) off from work, or do you veg out, relax, and do nothing but enjoy yourself?
I always feel the need to do the things I can't squeeze in on my work day.
Doing more than one load of laundry (I try to do it all).
Baking. Something. Anything. It's something I really miss from when I was a SAHM. Today i made a batch of blueberry muffins before 6 am rolled around.
I'll organize and file any paperwork/bills/school papers that I have not in their proper place today.
And I want to spend a good chunk of time with the kids after school. Doing nothing but hang out.
So, do you catch up or veg out on your day off?

Both. I'm usually productive in the morning and will do some organizing or yard work. I treat myself to a lazy afternoon of reading or binge watching my latest show. Amounts to a perfect day. I have Monday off and this is pretty much my plan.

I do the bare minimum work... doing all that work defeats the purpose of having time off.

I catch up usually. There are things I want to do around the house or in the yard that take a huge hunk of time. Those are the things I do on my days off - paint a room, weed the gardens, clean the garage.

It depends...sometimes I will take a day off just to relax. Other times I will have a specific thing I want to do. On the weekends I try to get a balance between tasks and fun stuff - I want to enjoy myself but equally I want to live in a nice home.

I spend time doing both. I don't always make time for the house. Sometimes I just pay my children to do the housework I need to get done if I have a lot of schoolwork. Because I think it's important to have some down time too.

I have Monday off. I plan on sleeping in and doing nothing. We will see if that actually happens though. DS is coming home this weekend from college; so by Monday he might want to go to the mall or something.

If I am off, I am generally on vacation and not at home. Or it's a holiday and the kids are off too. Then I hang with them.

And lately it's not just typical household chores but finishing a punch list of remodeling chores. Each room has a list. With my lack of time, it's going to be a long time before we finish everything. I'm so ready to have it all finished and not have to think about trim that needs painting or ceiling fan to install

It depends on what's been going on. If I schedule a random day off, it's usually to veg out. I have off for a lot of holidays DH does not, so I'll use some of those days to get the chores and errands done so the surrounding weekends are free from that kind of thing. I was off this past Monday & Tuesday...Monday I cleaned the whole house, shampooed the carpets and got the laundry done. Tuesday my sister and I went shopping and were ladies who lunch.

I try to do both. I work part time (3 and 4 days per week alternating) and on my days off I try to deep clean the house in the morning and relax in the afternoon.
I have a week of holidays next week, but dh is working. I plan on painting the laundry room, scrapbooking and watching movies.

Both. Usually I will set aside a chunk of time to do a larger chore that I haven't had time for before. On Monday I plan to put away all the patio furniture and beach/camping stuff. After that, it's scrapbooking and Netflix.

I am mostly playing catch-up getting things done around the house, errands, cooking a big batch of something that I can freeze for future meals, laundry, appointments like dentist, doctor, haircuts, vet related stuff. I do try to keep Sunday afternoons free and quiet to just have some me time even if it is while I have something cooking or am finishing-up the laundry.

I would LOVE to take a day off to veg and do nothing. When I take a day off it's because I have something that needs to get done or someplace I need to be.

Some of each. Although some days I plan a whole lot of catch up but wind up doing a whole lot of vegging out!

Catch up. My last two days off were spent cleaning house and doing laundry.

Try to do both. Mornings are my most 'productive' time, so try to catch up in mornings, and chill in the afternoon.
I'm an 'empty nester' so gotta admit I don't have as much catching up as you mommies do. It's just me and the dh and a couple of cats in the house, so mornings is enough time for me!!

Most of the time I use it to catch up on running errands or do things that I never get time to do (getting car serviced, getting hair cut, which are errands in a way)
But every once and a while, I will just chill out, and catch up on shows I have recorded and just have a relaxing, lazy day.

I only take off from work to go on vacation, I'm never sitting at home. I use my sick days for doctor apts and then relax the rest of the day or go shopping.

If I'm using an actual vacation day I'm not doing anything that resembles work or chores. If it is the weekend I will usually do laundry and clean the kitchen.

I have 11 days left to use up before the end of the year (yay me!). Since we moved, I am doing the catch up. I used to just do the veg out! I took last Monday off, and all I did was work work work. I needed another day off! So, I think I will be taking 2 days off together and split it up.
I do love to bake on my days off, I don't consider that work, just fun!

I've only been working for a few days (painting an opera set), but it is my day off and I have things to do! Maybe I can squeeze in a nap too.

I almost never get a total veg out, do nothing day. There is always so much to do that never gets done anyway. DH likes to go to the lake every chance he gets, so that means I don't even get weekends to catch up around the house. If I don't spend whatever down time I have during the week getting caught up on chores at home, they're not getting done and I'm living in a pigsty (like my house is today). He doesn't seem to care, but I hate it. Then we go to the lake and I get to spend all weekend cleaning there too.
DD has been home sick from school all week, so between running her to the clinic on the other side of town twice and waiting on her so she can rest, running to the drug store to pick up Rx, the grocery to get anything at all she will eat and not wanting to run the vacuum when she's finally getting some sleep, this place is going totally to hell in a hand basket. It makes me tired just thinking about it.

It depends. My days off are the weekends so I try and do both - catch up and relax. If I am taking a day off during my normal work week it's because I'm traveling somewhere or have something to do. I have taken days here and there with the plan to catch up or do a project.

It depends. Usually, some of both. But this coming Monday, I have the day off but neither DH or DS do. I'm not going to do anything productive and am just going to have fun doing stuff neither of them would want to do. I don't know what that will be yet, but I can't wait!

When I worked outside of the home, I would waste my days off catching up around the house. And I hated it. I'm glad I am a SAHM now and I can get my "chores" done while the kids are at school. I like to spend my "time off" with my family. Or vegging out if they aren't around!
