We have a problem. My little Jack Russell mix sheds EVERYWHERE. He does need to visit the groomers, which is part of the problem, but he sheds like crazy! We have an ash grey sofa, dark laminate wood and dark stained concrete floors throughout the apartment, so his white hair shows up on everything. Would a roomba work? I honestly am not going to sweep every day. I'm already really sick of it. Any pet hair advice?

Swiffers are generally good for pet hair, but you may be doing it daily.

You do it daily or look at the fur, sorry. I had a yellow lab who deposited her body weight in fur every week, I swear. I had a Swiffer for hard surfaces and a Dyson Animal for the carpet, and a leather couch (that she officially wasn't supposed to be on, but I know she slept on it when I left the house, haha). The carpet color did pretty much match her whitish fur, so that wasn't a big issue unless you wanted to sit on the floor. A Furminator brush helps somewhat, but some breeds simply shed a lot. She's been gone a year and a half and I still find her hairs occasionally, which now makes me smile a bit.

A Roomba will work great. Mine picks up the hair of 2 cats and the seeds of 2 birds.

Just learn to love it - we previously had two GOLDENS and there were "golden tumbleweeds" EVERYWHERE. Now that we only have one, we still have "tumbleweeds" EVERYWHERE. I can brush everyday and sweep everyday and still find some I missed. I've always told Pepper (our only golden now) that I was going to spray his tail with Pledge and let him do the dusting.

I vacuum daily and if I don't my nose knows because it gets all stuffed up. I have a lovable shedding machine border collie. I brush her regularly but the amount that she sheds is incredible. I also use a dyson and the swifter for the hard wood floors. We have a leather couch that Bella thinks belongs to her haha. It is easier to defer than the carpet.
My daughter has a corgi and his fur that is shorter and more coarse is far worse to clear than the collie. My allergies flare like crazy when she brings the dog for a visit. I think the shorter hair is really hard to keep up with, just my own opinion.

We bought a Dyson cordless that runs for 15-20 minutes and that hummer gets used every other day. If I bathe the corgi, it helps for a few weeks.

I have a 95 lb. German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix dog named Thor. I understand your problem. His shedding is so bad it has clogged the Dyson and we've had to get it serviced several times. I have white dog tumbleweeds of fur all over everywhere.
A swiffer works some, but the fur is so bad I go through multiple ones at a time. At times I admit, I just give in and let the dog hair create drifts, like snowdrifts, and then just pick up those and toss them.
It's a never ending battle.

You may have to get past the idea that you're not going to sweep every day. I sweep twice a day sometimes, but daily always, and based on what's in my dustpan my dog ought to be bald. I have no other answer.

I have a yellow lab. We have light tan carpet and a tan couch. . I also bought a hand held Dyson. I go around and vacuum the corners where the hair collects, which helps the "snow" drifts.

Dh thought getting a GSD aka German Shedder would cut down on the dog hair, WRONG We brush our dogs every couple of days because it does help. I don't know anything about JRTs, but some of the terriers need to have their coat stripped. The best thing to do about dog hair is grooming the dog regularly, vacuuming and getting used to having some hair around.

We have two mini doxies and a Jack Russell- short hair dogs are a pain in the rear! Our Jack Russell is by far worse than the doxies though. And his hair is white on our hardwood floors so you can see it.

I feel your pain, we have THREE shedders in this house and it gets bad quickly around here. Right now it's our black dog that is shedding big clumps of his undercoat every.where. It's so gross! Virtually as soon as I get the house vacuumed, I'm already seeing new clumps of fur rolling down the hall or stuck to the carpet.
To to answer your question about the Roomba, I think it would be a good answer for one small dog most of the time. You just have to remember to empty the little dust thing daily and clean the filters and rollers. You probably will still have to drag around your regular vacuum too at least a couple times a week, but it would definitely help with some of the day to day floor maintenance.

We have always had dogs with long hair. Currently we have (2) rough collies and (2) Papillons. Yep, hair everywhere, everyday. Lots of cleaning with my Miele Cat & Dog vacuum.

Yes, the Roomba will help if used daily. It won't replace real sweeping and vacuuming, but it helps!

Talk to your groomer about a deshedding treatment. I have two corgis and the hair was out of control. In late August I took them in for a treatment that has significantly reduced their shedding. It made a huge difference for a few weeks and I'm still seeing a difference, but not as dramatic as it was at first. I'm going to do this with my dogs every season.

Beagle hair EVERYWHERE in my house! I have to swiffer daily.
In the morning when I get ready for work, I don't get dressed until I'm ready to walk out the door.
