What did you name your pets?
We have 2 guinea pigs. One is brown with an orange stripe running halfway across is body. His name is Stripe. The other is black. When DS got the pigs he was in a wildlife biology class. He named this pig Urses Americanas. We have shortened his name to Urses.

3 kitties: Cleo Rose (from the book Cleo the Cat, which was one of DS's favorites, combined with DD's middle name at her request), Layla Rose (black kitty, name means something like "dark beauty" in Arabic, and because DD still wanted in on the naming action), and Jack Jayden (because most of us wanted Jack and DS wanted Jayden, lol). They just go by their first names, though. ETA: Their respective shelter names were Fuchsia, Love-a-Lot, and Duke. I could have handled Duke, I suppose, but knowing me, I would have tried to cutify it and ended up calling him Dukey. I have no idea where Fuchsia came from; Love-a-Lot was at least an appropriate name for the one who is now sometimes called Velcro Kitty.

Our dog is Stella. DH named her for the single reason of being able to yell STELLA if she ever got out. True story....

I currently have cats Oliver and Fiona. I also have Mufasa, but he doesn't live with me. Fred recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. His friend Monte went years ago, as did Sweet Baby Jake (a girl cat, which even the vet got wrong at first).
I've also had cats: Kermit Grover Tansy Pumpkin Armageddon ("Meg")
I guess the most unusual we had was a Ball Python named Oroboros (the Greek symbol of a serpent eating it's own tail). He was named by my oldest son, who has gone on to have pets named Bowzer, Grym, Richter, Odin, Pupok (Russian for bellybutton), Koshka, Reezhi, and Sauron.

We have a huge Chow/Golden Retriever cross ... at least that's what we think she is ... her mum was from a nearby native reserve ... Her name is Lucy aka Lucille or Lucifer Our two cats are Ella Enchanted aka Bad Kitty and Babette aka Baby ... Baby should actually be called Bad Kitty because she gets into way more trouble

Current kitties Momo (Calico) and Houdini (grey) both are females. Houdini aptly named because she escaped from her cat carriers and Momo because she is a pretty mellow kitty. Very much ying and yang

These are all cats that we had but have passed, Jellybean (who was tiny when we got him but got huge), Gabby, Dummy aka Stupid aka Buddy(his name was fitting but I called him Buddy because I though Dummy and Stupid were mean), Dusty, and Hobo.
We only have one cat left her name is Tommy we thought she was a boy. We changed her name to Tommy Girl when we found out she was a girl but everyone still calls her Tommy I don't think she knows it's a boy name.

Right now we have 3 cats. Grey cat presumably a male named him Silas. Turns out he was female so we named her Simone. Thinking we could still call her Si. We call her Mo or Mone.
Calico cat named Callie. Very original, not my choice.
Buff tabby presumably a female named her Penelope. Turns out she was a male so we named him Pennington. We call him Pen, Penny, or Mr.P
Previous pets... Male Rottweiler, Thor. Female Rottweiler, Sif. Male Malinois, Aaron (police K9) Male Dutch Shepard, Hex (police K9) His given name was Rokx, but they already had a Rocky on the team so my LH named him Hex.

We have 2 cats, Tiger and Lola. My boys named Tiger because he's an orange tabby..not very original, I know, but they are kids. We adopted Lola from a young lady who graduated college and couldn't take her to her new apartment. She knew her name, so we kept it.
We also have 2 rats: Pearl and Nettie. Pearl came with her name and again my boys named Nettie. One of the YouTube Minecraft guys they watch have a family member or something named Nettie and they thought it would work for their little rat.

My last two dogs have been rescues and I never felt like I should add stress and change their names. My current dog is Daisy. She is a joy, I wouldn't have picked her name but it's not bad.

Our current dog, a Cairn Terrier, is named Deego. He was a puppy mill rescue and the shelter called him Evan. I wanted to name him Fergus, but DH didn't like it. So for a couple days, he was nameless. DS was 2 at the time and kept saying "Where'd he go?" about the dog... but it sounded like "Where Deego?" And Deego stuck. Of course, everyone thinks it's actually Diego, but oh well.
Our cat is named Boo because she was terrified of EVERYTHING when we found her (abandoned at the beach as a kitten). It took her months to come to us willingly. Thirteen years later, she's the most aggressively affectionate cat I've ever met LOL

We have two cats, Monty and Bailey. They came to us with different names from the rescue: Biggles and Brett. Not our taste at all, and I used to share a house with a guy called Brett so that was just too weird to keep!
I have friends who are the masters of quirky pet name combos: they had a mother and daughter called Gravy and Carwash, now have brothers Loli and Marmite (all cats)

We have had two goldens over the past 10 years. Both were rescued from Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue here in New Orleans. The first one we got and who is still with us is named Pepper. He will be 12 in November. Sammy crossed the Rainbow Bridge last August and He was called Sampson when we got him but it didn't look like a Sampson - he was too cute so we shortened it to Sammy. What loves they have both been to us.

Our current sweetie is Wili Ben. He is named after an area in Kauai called Nawiliwili, and Ben was the name he had at the rescue. His full name is Nawiliwili Ben.
Bomber Scott-RIP- was named after the pro volleyball player, Scott "The Bomber" Ayakatubby.

Gingersnap is my golden lab. He SHOULD have been named Dobby since he loves socks so much, but Gingersnap stuck.
Salem and Spellman are the twin kittens...though they are more tweens now. They are into everything! And when I say they are climbing walls, I mean it. They think Gingersnap is their mama. It took a while to name these two. The following names didn't stick: Edward Scissorpaws and Captain Cat Sparrow, Chubsters and Shadow, and Fred and George.
We have also had cats Pouncer and Annie. Growing up, we had cats Ping and Pong, Dusty and Max, and Fuzzy Wuzzy. We also had dogs Roux (best name ever for a red dog from near Louisiana) and Bubby.

It seems like we get two at a time. First set of cows were P-U and Yucky since they stink. Next set was Lenny and Squigy. Kittens Rough and Tough and now Cutie and Patootie.
