I'd go in. When I had a kidney infection, it felt muscular.

That's what I thought at first. ..muscle strain or something on that side. Right side almost hurts to touch.

I would describe kidney pain as dull and achy. It can be on either side of the back and radiate around to the stomach. Try increasing your water intake and apply moist heat. If it doesn't feel better, you should definitely be seen.

Mines all on low right side like hip area..sore to touch...and only other symptom is having to pee more frequently but that's about it.

No burning during urination? It could be a kidney stone. I would schedule an appointment. Kidney infections can get worse quickly.

I didn't have burning with my last kidney infection, it felt nothing like a UTI, just a dull ache like you described. But as it progressed I became really sick - dizziness, fever, and strong chills. I had never had a KI, and it was the chills that made me look it up because I had never had any like that before outside of labor. I'd also suggest getting it checked out ASAP before you get to that stage, if it is a KI.

You need an appt. When you call, mention the right side pain and the urinary frequency. Don't mess with it by waiting it out. If it is your kidneys, you could damage them by waiting.

You might also want to check your urine in a clear glass. It can be cloudy for both a UTI and a KI, but if it's cloudy it would be an another indicator that it's probably your urinary tract system giving you the pain.

When my uti became a kidney infection, I was feverish. Never going to let that happen again. Nor will my GP, and nurse. Got scolded by both for not taking care of it sooner -- first round of antibiotics hadn't worked. I thought it would eventually pass. I was wrong.
Go see your doctor!!!!

Yeah, go in. DD had that develop so suddenly we feared it was her appendix. No, she just had a UTI that had progressed to a kidney infection - hence the sudden development of fever, pain to touch, etc. (Of course, we had just gone out of town, so we got to spend St. Patrick's night in the big city ER...educational for a 9 year old, even one who was half out of it, let me tell you!)

I just finished antibiotics for Ecoli of the kidneys. Sickest sick I have ever felt. I had the same thing two years ago and had a heart attack as a result.
My DR told me if bacteria has entered the urinary system there is no way to get rid of it other than antibiotics. Waiting is not smart and I have learned this the hard way.

They're both painful! Don't make my friend's mistake & wait too long. She was feeling sick, went to ER, given meds & knocked out while dismissing her request to have the kidneys checked, subsequently sent home. Well, 6 days later she was begging me to take her to ER. Immediately admitted, many tests ordered, IV's administered, etc.
She had a kidney infection that traveled into her bloodstream. She was very very ill & hospitalized for a week.

Unfortunately, because I didn't realize I needed treatment, it developed into a kidney infection and it was very much as stittsygirl described.

I'm glad you had it checked out. I hope the stone is able to pass without much intervention or pain.
