I am a leftie so are 2 of my 4 kids!
I remember the teacher in grade one wanting to force me to write with my right hand but my mom saying no, ugh thank goodness.
I have to laugh at those facts some are very true for me I do suffer from insomnia/the whole left brain right brain thing was true but there were a few from the left side that I excel in. However I don't have alcoholic tendencies/not great at the sports listed and I don't suffer from allergies or asthma.

I'm a lefty! So is my Dad. My husband and one daughter are right handed but play sports left. I'm pretty ambidextrous, which ever hand is closer I could use or could choose to switch if I wanted to.
Most of those points in that article don't apply to me: not a drinker, never mind alcoholic, not an insomniac, not great at math, don't have allergies, don't lose my temper.

My dad is a leftie and I write left handed but do everything else right handed. I was quite excited when my youngest dd looked as though she'd be a leftie as well but nope, she's right handed lol

Yes. My dad was, my sister is,as are a couple of brothers and a couple of my sons are.
18 is wrong. Prince William is left handed, the Queen and Prince Charles are not. Neither was the Queen's mother. However, her father, George vi famously was, and having it beaten out of him was thought to be the cause of his stammer, as we all know from The King's Speech.

I questioned the Queen & Prince Charles when I read the list because they were definitely raised in the era when it would have been beaten out of you. Interesting that King George VI was. Many years ago I worked for a mining/exploration company and over 50% of our Geologists were left handed. Their VP and I were fascinated by this anomaly given that only 5-10% of the general population is.

I am left handed, but I do many things with my right hand. I can even write fairly well with my right.
No one else in my family (not sure of cousins) is a lefty.
I don't have any problems, except for when I go to sign a credit card on the machine, I have to turn it my way! Often I find myself moving silverware in a restaurant (when it's wrapped in a napkin) over to my left side.
Balls, hitting a baseball (in days past) catching and throwing all right handed. Scissors right handed ( I don't remember how that started but it's easy with the right)

I'm a lefty however I write with my right hand. Catholic school, late 50s, those nuns were adamant about using your right hand to write. Dh is a lefty but shoots with his right hand. I always thought that was interesting.

Our 2 sons are lefties; daughter is not. Interestingly, no one on either side of my or husband's family is left handed. And we have. 2 lefties. I was totally surprised by older son's left handedness.

I'm a lefty writer, righty cutter, righty eater, and sports it depends. I wakeboard righty, bowl both equally bad. When I kick, I go for the ball with my right foot.
My mom is a lefty COMPLETELY! She gave me a pair of her favorite lefty scissors, I gave them back. I cannot cut left handed to save my life!

I'm a lefty, my mom is a lefty, and my paternal grandmother was a lefty. My niece is as well, but both my kids are right handed.
I prefer to do most everything left handed, but I can use my right and I can write with my right hand as well as upside down and backwards. My right hand does not get used nearly as much so it is weaker.
My grandmother and my mother were both allowed to use their left hand as was I, even though my mom and I both went to Catholic school. Maybe my mom's parents went into the school to allow her to be left handed but for me no one ever tried to change it. But when my niece was little her other grandma tried to make her use her right hand and my mom went nuts on her for it.
If someone was forced to learn to write using the nondominant hand they do not have to continue to use it. If they switch to the dominant hand it will be natural to do it because the brain is wired for it. I would never continue something unnatural that had been forced on me.

I'm a lefty, but I do use scissors with my right hand. I think that is an adaptation from not always having lefty scissors as a kid.
Neither of my parents are lefties, but they each have a lefty brother. 2 of my 4 kids are left-handed. My right handed ds struggles much more with handwriting/motor skills. (the other only 2)

I have a brother and a daughter who are lefties. I have another DD who is right handed but plays sports left handed. My lefty brother throws a football right handed but a baseball (and basketball) left handed. Another brother is ambidextrous which greatly helped him as quarterback!

I am mostly left handed but I can do a few other things with both hands. I have one brother and one sister out of 7 that are as well. And a few neices and nephews. So it's random in our family.

I'm a lefty, married a lefty and my youngest DD is as well (my Paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather were too).
My husband is a true lefty; he often calls me a 'pretend lefty'. I write/eat/sew left handed, but I sign/cut/throw/bat/kick/bowl/golf/shoot, etc as a righty. I'm also right eye dominant.
My DD is a true lefty as well.

I am. One of my three dds is, too. My dad was left handed and so was my brother.
Fun fact: in my small graduating class of 20, 7 of us were left handed.

I was a lefty until I went to school. I am still left-eyed and left-eared. DS#2 is a true lefty - hand, eye, ear, foot. DH's sisters are left-handed, as was his mother. It runs strongly in his family.

I'm a lefty. But use scissors and play sports as a righty. If something is more of a right hand activity, I can generally learn it right or left and then adapt for how it is easier for me. I learned to crochet as a righty, but was able to move it over to my left hand because it was more comfortable for me to do it that way.

Another lefty here! Lots of lefties in my family both males and females. Oddly, more lefty males on my dad's side and more lefty females on my mom's. When eating together all the lefties are all on one side of the table. Even when I go out to eat with friends I have to sit on the end to free my left elbow. Most of my friends are pretty aware of it and always leave that seat for me but I have this one semi- "friend" that just doesn't get it. She's actually almost rude about it asking me "why do you feel like you always have to sit there.?" Ummm, hello! So my elbow isn't in your pasta.
I do have a few lefty cooking utensils that my mom bought for me. If you ever buy Pampered Chef stuff, buy the bamboo cooking spoons with another friend and you can swap her for the lefty spoon. Yep....one spoon angles up to the left and one angles to the right. My mom and I did this and it just makes me so happy!

I'm left handed and so is my adopted daughter. My sons are both right handed. Go figure.
I am ambidextrous though. I write with my left, use scissors and a knife with my right, golf right handed, throw balls with either, etc.

Youngest DD is a lefty.... the only one on both sides of the family! When DD was showing clear signs of favoring her left hand, MIL seriously told me that we would need to "tie her left hand down" to force her to use her right hand (this was 1996, not 1956!). I just looked at her like There is (or was) a left-handed store on the San Francisco waterfront that was a lot of fun. DD discovered it when she was a grade-schooler and got a kick out of all of the stuff there. I've seen those stores in other places through the years (Lefty's).

I am, my daughter is,and so was her father.
Funny story- after my paternal grandfather passed away when I was 9, I was curled up coloring with my grandmother and she said "you know you got your left handedness from your grandpa". And that made me happy. And I believed that for YEARS even though it completely made no sense as I was well aware he was my fathers stepdad.
