I have had a book on hold since September 22nd. My library has 2 copies. One was due September 30th the other has been going through the wait list and is currently due November 16th, I'm #2 on the list. That means, if the book is turned in on time, I might get it by the end of December. Or I could just pay $10 and buy a copy from Amazon...
What are your book nerd problems?

I like reading, but never find the time to do it. This is a huge book worm problem!

Too many books on the shelf. Too many bookshelves. Not enough time to read them all.

I can spend 3 hours in a row at my section of books at the store or library.
Have you checked if there's a PDF of your book online?

I spent two hours last night trying to find something from the library app on my tablet. There were so many I want to read I couldn't decide and ended borrowing none

i cannot read books anymore and have to get them to read on my kids' ipad so i can make the letters bigger! the fonts are too small and glasses (i have tried several different pairs of reader glasses) make me feel sick to my stomach. so whenever i see books fairs, garage sales or a book i have wanted to read at the goodwill for cheap, cheap, i cannot buy it since i am unable to read it.

I have over 500 unread books on my Kindle app and I want to read (almost) all of them next. It's an internal battle whenever I'm picking my next book to read.

I have over 500 unread books on my Kindle app and I want to read (almost) all of them next. It's an internal battle whenever I'm picking my next book to read. This is my problem too. And when I go to start a new book, I have to check reviews all over again, because I can never remember what they're about. And another one - I never know the name of the book I'm reading because I always read on my Kindle or iPad, so I never have the visual reminder of the cover. breetheflea, what book is it you're looking for? If it's one I have, I'll be happy to email you a copy (assuming you have a way to read a digital copy, of course!)

I like to read books, but it must be quiet. My house is rarely quiet. I've resorted to listening to audio books while I'm in my car. I think I'm a book nerd wannabe. I do have an extensive to read list on good reads with several categories.

I had borrowed a book from the library, couldn't finish reading it by the time it was due and the library wouldn't let me renew it because it had holds. So I returned it and requested it again. I was number 1 on the waitlist yet it took months for the other person to return it! I couldn't believe it!
I've found that I get new books faster when I request the digital version. The way it works is when it's your turn, you have 3 days to download it plus 3 weeks to read it, but if you miss your download window, it goes to the next person on the list. So even though I've been number #300 on a list to get a book, I get it within a couple months.

The Book is called On Writing by Stephen King. For something that gets such good reviews you think my library system (10 libraries in 3 counties) would have more than 2 copies...

I sometimes peruse the Large Print section of the library to deal with this issue. (and because I can find some titles there that I can't on the regular shelves...) Have you tried listening to books on CD or any of the websites where you can listen to books?? audible.com is one my sister uses, I think. eta: my issue-- I have several (cozy) mystery series in the works, and I must read them in order. Which is difficult, since I can hardly ever find the *next* one at the library or thrift store!! Even though I have them all saved on my mysteries-to-read shelf on goodreads, I've finally resorted to keeping a printed list with me when I'm out and about, so I can remember which ones I need to read next.

I'm having a hard time finding books I'd like! I stalk my fave authors, read the book within hours (usually) of getting it!
My bad, bad thing is that for work, I had to learn to speed read, so I gave a hard time slowing down when I read for pleasure.

That really is an excellent book. I passed along my copy to my sister, or I'd send it to you. My book nerd problem is that I wish I had the blurbs for all the books on my kindle listed under the title. I can't remember what they book was about or why I picked it based on title and author. That's why they make the jacket blurbs on paper books. Even one sentence showing up under the title would jog my memory. I hate having to find the title, open the blurb box, then close it. Five minutes later, I've forgotten again. How first world is that?

(ETA: nevermind - saw your answer!) My book nerd problem is that I will often put a hold on a book well in advance of the publish date (as long as a copy is ordered in our library system, you can put a hold on it). Then all of a sudden I have a bunch of books come up and I really have to hustle to get through them all. My other problem is that our library system doesn't tell you where you are on the list of holds for hard copy books. At least for ebooks you know your place in line. (I do a mix of ebooks and regular books).

I had a book on hold since April 22nd. It came in last week. I got about 15% in and thought meh, this is stupid and ditched it. So glad i didn't spend the $12.99.

My book nerd problem is that I spend a small fortune on books because I'm too impatient to wait until I can get them from the library. When I hear about a book I want to read, I go straight to Amazon and download it.

My book nerd problems are all related to using an e-reader: - I used to enjoy searching for books at garage sales and thrift stores, but now I find I would rather read them on my device.
- I miss owning a copy of a great book, and sharing it with my friends. Now, if it's really good, I just recommend it.
- My go-to Christmas gift used to be a brand new hard-cover book, specially picked out for the recipient. It's not the same gifting a book credit at Amazon.

Usually my only book nerd problem is having a stack of books that I want to read, and not being able to choose which one to start with. I end up reading a chapter or two in each till one hooks me. My other problem is coming down from reading a REALLY AWESOME book and then no book that follows is nearly as good.

Ah, some of my usual book nerd problems: 1. Too many books to read, so little time 2. Covers - when a book has a great cover from different publishers (US/UK) 3. When old books get reissued with new covers and you want them all 4. Buying a book when it's first released, and trade paperbacks are released many months later with better covers, or whatnot. If it's a series, you want all books in the series to match; applies if it's different books from one author. 5. When I'm at a bookstore with someone unfamiliar with my book browsing or book buying habits. You can't rush me or ask me too many questions like, "Don't you have a lot of books at home?" "What are you buying now?" 6. People who see my books at home and ask, "Have you read all of these?"

I love my Kindle, and I've found that I read at least twice as much as I used to because the Kindle just fits my lifestyle and the way I read. But I love the idea of signed hardcover copies of special books, too. So I have some signed hardcover books that I have never actually read (the actual book; I read them on my Kindle). So I guess they are kind of for decoration, or to make me feel happy inside, or something like that.

One of my exercise routines is an hour on the stationary bike. I crank up the font on my kindle and read for the hour. I have found that, the better and more exciting the book, the faster I ride. Ha ha ha. So my book nerd problem is I need to read really exciting books! Now I just need to figure out how to read and do barbell jumping jacks like polz.

Same as previous posters, I request books from the library (paper and kindle) and they always all come in at the same time so I find myself with 4-5 that need to be read. I just finished the last of 3 that I had so I should be good for a week or so before the next one becomes available. Been a long time since I just had 1 book on the go.

My problem is not HAVING a book. I have a pile on hold at the digital library, and my Kindle is loaded up, but I've been reading a lot and often, so I whip through a book in a day or two and then am left thinking, "now what?" Completely a first world problem, but it makes me feel lost. Nothing is happier than a stack of books that I'm dying to read.
