So, I was at Michaels today looking at coloring books. My mom is traveling out to Michigan for 12 days to be with me during my surgeries. When I told her I would be bringing coloring books and pencils for something for us to do, since I'll probably not be up for running around town much, she was very excited and said she has been wanting to start - I got her started on scrapbooking 14 years ago, and she has out-scrapped me by at least a hundred pages. She is crafty!
Anyhow, they had a huge display of The Lost Ocean and it is on sale for 11.99. Johanna Basford's other books just haven't been my thing, but this one just "spoke" to me. I love all things ocean-related, so these illustrations will be so fun to color!
If you are looking for a new coloring book, go take a look at this one at Michaels. I haven't purchased her other books, but had to have this one. I think that my mom will love it too.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have bought two books but am yet to start. I need to buy something to colour them in with first LOL and I've been saving them for recuperation from surgery I'm having in December. There are so many book available now, we even have them in the supermarket checkout

Thanks for the heads up! Also..WalMart has a whole new section of them for $4.99. It's on a end cap in the craft area at all my nearby WMs.

They were $4.34 at my Walmart. I like that they are one sided and that they are cheaper because then I don't mind playing around in them.

I preordered one from Amazon for about $10 and got it yesterday. It's a beautiful book. The paper is different, though, than the first two books. It's whiter and has a different texture. It's still a great book, though. My only wish is that the pages were single sided. I'd be willing to pay more or have less images for single-sided designs.

I have not yet bought the lost ocean. For the Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, I plan to take them to Staples and either have them spiral bound or just unbound completely. Then, I'll probably just photocopy the pages as I use them so I don't have to worry about double sided.

I also preordered and love it. I have all of hers. Still wish they were single sided.

It's still a great book, though. My only wish is that the pages were single sided. I'd be willing to pay more or have less images for single-sided designs. There was something I read yesterday that said all new prints of Secret Garden are now printed on heavier paper so marker wouldn't bleed through. Chapters here (canada) has a single side "artist version" of Secret Garden. Single sided and I think 8 x 10 size. It's a little more cost wise. I preordered Lost Ocean but am disappointed there is no large turtle in it. But I'm happy to have a change from the gazillion leaves in her first two books. I also have the Millie Marotta books. They are on a white smoother paper. If anyone here is looking for nice pencil crayons, the pack at Chapters is really nice.

Dang it. It's on my wish list now. I think it would be such a fun job to create coloring books!

I pre-ordered from Amazon and it arrived Tuesday. I'm embarrassed to say I've not even opened the box yet. Hectic week! I WILL be taking a peek when I get home tonight.

So, it would be $10.20 with the usual 40% coupon. I didn't want to wait, so ponied up the 11.99. I had Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest. I didn't plan on getting the Lost Ocean but dang, the Peas talked me into it. you won't regret it Lauren - it is really nice.

How long does it take Staples to spiral bind one? Does anyone know? I'm leaving on Tuesday before the stores open, so if I drop it off tomorrow, would it be done by Monday? TIA!

They should be able to do it in a couple of hours. I have quilting books that I use a lot spiral bound. ETA: I have even waited while the did it, so it doesn't take long.

ooh, thanks for the recommendation, Elaine!
For some reason the pictures in her other two books really didn't do anything for me, but I like the illustrations in this one a lot. I may need to put this one on my Christmas list.

I preordered mine from Amazon and recevied it on Tuesday. Now I just have to take it to staples and get it spiral bound like I did the other two books. I like all ocean things so I love this book. I do have to say the child in me would like a christmas coloring book too

I may need to put this one on my Christmas list. I completely agree! The other two books are very "whimsical" in style, which just isn't my style, but this book, while full of decorative sea creatures, isn't whimsical.

I received mine today and my 6 yo DD was in awe. I looked at the reviews on Amazon and many said that the illustrations were too small and difficult to color, which I agree, they are. This book may involve a different style of coloring.

Liberty Colouring Book Well, since you'll be spending time at home until you are no longer contagious, you should have a bit of time for coloring! The only good thing about shingles is enforced house rest.

Um, the doctor didn't say anything about that. Are you serious? We're having a Halloween party on Saturday. And I have a major commitment on Tuesday - as in, I've been working over a year on preparing for it.

About the coupon at Michaels---I was in there the other day and they had a HUGE stack of coloring books for grownups on display. But the display said that no coupons could be used for coloring books. I know when I bought my Basford book from them a couple months ago I was told they don't allow coupons on any of this type of book.
