Um, the doctor didn't say anything about that. Are you serious? We're having a Halloween party on Saturday. And I have a major commitment on Tuesday - as in, I've been working over a year on preparing for it. (Sorry for the hijack!) Um, yeah. Until your rash crusts over, you are still shedding the virus. You can give the chicken pox to anyone who hasn't had them yet. So, young kids (especially babies who haven't been vaccinated yet) and people with compromised immune systems are at risk for catching chicken pox from you. You should have seen the nurse sterilizing and wiping everything down on the blood pressure cart after they took my stats. I felt like I had Ebola. For me, it was on my face and I looked like I was trying out Halloween makeup, so it wasn't hard to stay in the house for several days. I think you'll be okay for Tuesday, but I'd skip Saturday's party, or at least let all the parents know so they can decide whether or not to send the kids. It won't be an issue for most of them, but someone could have immune issues you don't know about.

Someone would have to come in direct contact (touch) an open wound to be affected. I don't know where your rash is but if you are able to keep it covered and keep your hands clean when you're around other people, they will be safe. I would tell people that you have them, though, so they can choose to be around you or not.

I had to mail something via UPS today, so thought that I'd kill two birds with one stone and ship it at Staples and drop my The Lost Ocean, Animal Kingdom, and Tropical World off at the printing center to be spiral bound.
When I told the Staples guy that I wanted them spiral bound, he looked at me as though I was speaking a foreign language. I then explained it at a first grade level, and he said "I've never heard of that. We don't do that here." To which I said that numerous women around the country have their Staples do it with no problem. He replied that he had never seen it and that they didn't / wouldn't do it.
So, I drove 10 minutes to a Kinkos store that has become a FedEx Office store. The guy there had no problem understanding what I wanted done. $19 for the three books, so not cheap, but should get done today.

That's where I get mine done. $19 for three books is expensive. It only cost at most $5 for me at Staples (it's been a while since I had one done, but I remember it wasn't expensive at all.)

We don't have another Staples close by.

This is true - i was told that with mine on my back, it wouldn't be a problem except if someone were to come into contact with the weeping rash, which could come through direct touch or if I used a towel on my back and someone else used it after me.

I think sometimes they have people working in the print shop that don't know how to do anything but make copies. I sometimes go in and have reams of cardstock cut (it's cheap to do that for making cards) most of the time the people know what I am asking for, other times they don't have a clue. I bring it another time when I get the clueless ones.

The guy in the printshop looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if they did spiral binding. At least I wasn't surprised because I had already read your experience with Staples before I went to the store. Sadly, I have no Kinko's, so I'll just have to rip out the pages. As an aside, I bought my copy of The Lost Ocean today at Costco for $9.49, so I'm happy that I at least got a little discount and didn't have to wait to get it shipped.

My niece just got it. It's very pretty. I agree with others that it needs to be single sided.

That is one of the reasons I posted my Staples experience. On the bright side, I picked up my books from Kinkos/Fedex Office and they did a beautiful job with them. Do you have any copy/print stores in your town that are holdouts from the 80s? You might try one of them. Great find at Costco!

No, the issue wasn't the spiral / coil binding (I pointed to the sample on the counter - saying I wanted it to look like that) it was the removing of the spine of a book, cutting the covers, and then coil/spiral binding it. It is a much different task than simply binding loose pages.

If someone who has not been vaccinated and has never had Chicken pox were to touch the sores, they could get chicken pox from you. The chances of this happening are incredibly slim- one, because if i recall correctly, your sore are on your back and two, because those sores are nasty and no one is going to touch them! If you needed to be quarantined, your doctor would have told you so. Relax, and go about your life!
