Three doses and each morning, the last day's vein is unuseable.
Yesterday, it took 40 minutes to find a usable vein. Today, 2 hours. I ate and hydrated this morning, I was warm. Nothing worked. 20 freakin' sticks before one worked.
The one nurse had to step out, she was so upset. And they did everything right, I just can't believe my veins are that bad.
We all agreed next time, I'm going through the hospital and getting a picc line.

Yuck! I'm sorry, I know how it feels to be a pin cushion. I've had a port-a-cath for many years and they finally gave up on getting into my veins and use my port for almost everything. Meds, blood draws, etc.
Have they called anesthesia to try to get in? Here they only allow two sticks per person and a lot of times end up calling anesthesia for help.

No, unfortunately it was at one of the home health/care centers. My insurance wouldn't cover anything else.
But, it's over now. Time to relax and let the steroids take me back to normal or as close as possible. I just want to get back to my routine. I have to pick up ' Ds and his friend from school at 2:30. I'm so tired, I'm just going to find a semi-empty parking lot nearby and surf the web instead of going home for 30 minutes before I have to go back out.

I have done the IV steroid route too - you have my sympathy! They found it was easier to use a child size needle/line in on my veins. Their positive hit rate went way up when we made the switch.

They were using the butterfly needle but it was like my veins were running away.
I have them the one last try before they had to go into the nice, full vein across the top of my foot. I thought the one nurse was going to puke at the thought - heck, I wanted to puke but I just needed it all to be over.

So glad the insurance approved the steroids. So sorry it took digging to find a vein, not fun for anyone involved.

You know what hurts worse than the last three days? Not a single family member (except my mom) called to check on me or even leave a message on Facebook. Not asking for pity on here, I just don't know what I've done to them to not even have them notice. *sigh*

I hear you! Every time I go in, I have to tell them that they will not find a vein. This last time I requested an anesthesiologist to poke at me. The nurse insisted he was the best. After 3 times, bleeding all over I told him he had to stop. Get someone else. They did get an anesthesiologist, he got it in the first time. I was so mad. I wanted to throw up, my arms has the HUGE bruises on them. I hate getting an IV or blood taken.
Glad this is almost over for you!!

Sometimes people suck. I spent a week in the hospital and never once got a call from my son. I know how that hurts when it comes from family members.
