It is cabbage night in my area.
It doesn't seem like it we have the problems/pranks/destruction these days like we did when I was a kid...which is good. Do you still have issues in your area?

We don't call it anything!
No pranks or acts of destruction here. I don't remember this ever being an issue in my neck of the woods.

The night before Halloween or Halloween Eve. Maybe I live in a bubble but I don't recall an over abundance of destruction or pranks...either in the past or currently. Although with it falling on a weekend this year I'm sure last night was more rowdy than a typical Friday night.

Beggars Night.
It isn't always the night before Halloween - but it usually is. That is when the kiddos trick or treat. Iowa is nutty like that. Almost every town sets a "Beggars Night" for the kids to TorT and it is never on Halloween. Nuts.

There's no name or event associated with the night before Halloween here. We don't really have issues with pranks or vandalism. Maybe the odd smashed pumpkin but that usually happens after Halloween.

I was telling DH about it and LOL he said, "No Halloween? I'd move!" He wasn't kidding either. The man just LOVES Halloween!

Some areas call it Devil's Night because of the trouble some idiotic people get up to, but most places don't have that problem. It's pretty isolated, but it's too bad that some people like to ruin things for others.

I find it so odd that some places do Hallowe'en before Hallowe'en... what happens on Hallowe'en?

It's Devil's Night here. Of course we have an issue with arson almost every year in the urban areas.

I read that that is just a Jersey thing, though.

It's called Kick e'door-ie night here. Where kids knock on doors and run away, pelt houses and people with raw eggs and generally make a nuisance of themselves. I had thought it was dying out but there were quite a few gangs roaming round town last night and I know the police were making arrests. It's quite horrible and really upsets the older folk.
I'm quite surprised to hear of Devil's night and Mischief night. I hadn't expected this sort of thing to be international for some reason.

When I moved here I learned that depending on your town Halloween TOTing may not be on the actual day itself. I know the first year I was here it was a week later! So stupid.

This year we called it High School Football Friday Night. We trick or treated on Thursday. The only mischief I know of was my kids toilet papering around town. (No old people were disturbed, other than my dad and the local cop actually helped them. They only TP their friends and they went around this morning to clean it up. Just good, clean fun around here. Best part? One of the moms collected the toilet paper and put it in a basket in the bathroom to use so it didn't go to waste. Poor kid, I bought the cheap stuff! (atrb_partsz)

The night before Halloween. I have also never lived in a community that dictates the date of trick or treating, it is on Halloween no matter if it is on a Friday or a Tuesday.

It was Beggars night when I was growing up. But I don't think my kids would know of or call it that. I think kids were more "free range" (gasp!) back then and now it is more regimented/scheduled by adults so things have become more homogenized.

Almost every town sets a "Beggars Night" for the kids to TorT and it is never on Halloween. Nuts. I grew up in Eastern Iowa and had never heard of Beggars Night until I moved to North central Iowa. Apparently it's a Des Moines thing. I grew up trick or treating on Halloween. The town I currently live in always trick or treats on Halloween as well. Beggars Night history
