I am stuck on what to get my niece. She seems to be at that age were she may be too "big" for toys but still too young for clothes and stuff. Help!

I have six nieces, ages 10-14, and I can tell you that anything CRAFTY is very well received. Maybe a grown-up coloring book and some nice pens? A jewelry making kit? Weaving, embroidery, really just about anything where they can make something pretty and use their creativity. There are lots of good craft kits on Amazon, rated for different ages, and I read the reviews carefully to see which ones really live up to their promise.

Have you asked her or her parents what she would like? Seems like the best option

As a mom to an 11 and 14 year old, I totally agree with this! Also, my girls always appreciate clothing, especially if it is something cool they wouldn't normally get at back-to-school time, like sparkly sweaters and tulle skirts. My kids love notebooks, pens, pencils, sketchbooks. Pins (like the metal kind, to wear on coats or backpacks) featuring their favourite tv/book/movie characters or references. Lip balms, glittery or scented chapstick. BOOKS!!!!

My 10yo daughter may be a rarity, but she still loves My Little Pony anything. But I know that most girls in her class are big on crafty stuff, jewelry making, art supplies.
My 10yo has a "hey day" in Michaels!

Jewelry is always popular but I always ask. Most have something they really, really want.

Perhaps a small jewelry making kit with a gift card to Michaels so she could get more items there if she really enjoyed it.

My 10 year old likes:
Clothes - a funky item like a blazer or an eternity scarf (she likes everything H &M).
Jewelry (what about a silver initial necklace from Claire's - last year my dd got the snowflake for her birthday)
Thinking games - like that perplex ball mentioned
Board games - clue, mastermind, sorry, blokus, rummikub, card games like rat a tat cat.
Books - has she read Out of My Mind?
Kindle
Hth, Paige.
Eta: My dd doesn't like anything crafty, but age appropriate science experiements are popular with her.
And the snap circuits are popular with her. She likes doing them with friends during a play date.

My granddaughter just turned 12, so not too different...
For her birthday she asked for a Fitbit, graphic novels, an electric throw, a Broncos blanket, and gift cards.
She likes crafty things, American Girls, and shoes. Anything zebra print seems really popular, too.

My 10 YO wants legos, money, loves anything crafty- but agree with the others it depends on the kid- She's really enjoyed the stem events she's been to, so I found a build a robot kit I think she'll like. She also wants an electric blanket. We have 2 of these: Electric throw and LOVE them as they're washable. My youngest still pees the bed from time to time, but loves his "hot" blanket. Works perfectly.

My 10 yr old dd loves shopkins. She's also getting new bedding, a heated throw, hoodies, uggs, leg warmers, and nice headphones.

When my niece was that age, all she wanted was books, books and more books. And games for her Nintendo 3DS. Since we had no clue what she already had, we've been giving both her and her younger brother Target gift cards for quite a while now because they are so hard to buy for.
