This is the one and only reason that I will not change from my iPhone to an android.

Well with all the iPhone problems we use to have it wasn't worth it. But not being be to transfer music we've paid for is a joke!!

I switched from an iPhone to an android and I could have sworn my music converted. Have you researched Samsung Kies? That is what I used to move it and I think I would have been upset if it only moved my converted CDs. Stacy

I remember that when I had an android, there was an app that would sync your itunes account to your droid. I can't remember the name of it; but, you had the app on your phone and there was also a download to the computer.

Couldn't you put iTunes on your computer and rip a CD or transfer to your new phone from your computer? I've bought a lot of music on iTunes over the years and I always burn a copy of all my purchased music to CD for a backup or to play in my car (pre-Sync). In all fairness though, I've always had either an iPod, iPad or iPhone for probably 20 years.

Can you burn CD's and then load the CD's onto Android?

Don't know about the cd...wouldn't it still be in the same format?

I really hope you're able to find a solution. Several years ago when iTunes was pretty new I bought two songs. I quickly realized how limited I was with the files, the Apple brand iPods and products, and obnoxious DRM. I got out quick. And the music industry wonders why piracy is still alive and rampant.

There has to be a way to do it. My husband had a Blackberry. He somehow loaded all of his iTunes songs (from his laptop) onto his Blackberry, and also had them on a USB to play when we were on the motorcycle. Keep digging around. I don't know what the process was but someone here or online (google search) will.

I understand. I have an ipod because I am a dinosaur and I don't lose any of my music. I use my iPad and Pod for music and my phone for phone things. I also am feeling my arms shorten to t-Rex length.

There hasn't been DRM on music sold through iTunes since 2009. Just FYI. OP, this article might help. I haven't tested it, but worth trying.

So frustrating! I don't have any plans to switch to an Android phone but guess it's something to keep in mind.

However maybe I don't fully understand the term. In my mind DRM refers to limitations placed on the file including limitations on how many devices it can be on, whether it can be copied, or converted to a different format which the OP is having issues with. I had an android phone a few years ago and lots of music in iTunes for my iPod. I plugged my droid into my computer and just drug (dragged?) the songs one at a time onto my android. It worked fine. I opened my music library and then opened a window showing the android connected as an e:drive. Click on the song and while holding down the mouse or touch pad button pull the song onto the e:drive or wherever drive it shows the phone as.

Interesting.
I've never tried to put music on my phone. I just take my iPod, too.

And when you switched from albums to cassettes and cassettes to CDs back in the day, your previously purchased music didn't play on your new device. I see this as the same.
Blaming music piracy on controls put in place to prevent piracy is ludicrous, in my opinion.
