I love snow balls... they are small round mint chocolate chip cookies rolled in sugar... and snicker doodle but with Christmas colored sugars instead of just white sugar n cinnamon

shortbread. Real, honest to goodness scottish shortbread like my grandmother used to make. Like my mother makes. And like I can never quite get right.

Snickerdoodles Butterballs (normal people call them Russian Tea Cakes or Mexican Wedding cakes) Chewy Noels - buttery, brown sugar-y bar ccokie dusted with powdered sugar Sprinkle Tops - shortbread cookie, tops dipped in chocolate and then non-pareils, choc sprinkles, or walnuts (I like the non-pareil dipped ones the best)

I love a good sugar cookie with royal icing. Also love a good butter cookie with butter-cream icing (Land o Lakes has the best recipe!). I am on the fence about baking this year, no holiday spirit

Okay, I can see that recipes are going to be needed. Especially for the snow balls.

I love lemon bars and fudge. I only make those once a year so I look forward to them at Christmas. My family fell in love with a cookie that I found here last year. I think it was chocolate and used an Andes mint. Does anyone remember that? Omg, they went nuts over those. I want to send my ds in the Navy a package of Christmas goodies so I'm trying to get a good list together. Look forward to checking this list!

Not exactly traditional, but I love cranberry and pistachio biscotti, I dip one end in white chocolate, so with the red and green it looks very festive.

Southern Lassies also know as pecan tassies. They are a pain to make, tome any way. That is why my mother gets to make them every year. Pecan Tassie recipe

I'm not going to repeat any that have been mentioned, but we always make those sweet-and-salty toffee bark pieces that are made over saltine crackers. Couldn't be easier and, man, are they addictive.

Round cookies. Or square. Or rectangular.
Thanks for the thread, but Patter said it best: Recipes!

I will second the Pecan Tassies linked above, they are ALWAYS on our must-do list. Other favorites of ours are Starlight Sugar Crisps (yeast dough rolled out and folded several times with vanilla sugar sprinkled between the layers, then cut and twisted). They are a PITA to make and the recipe only yields 60 cookies, but they are always the first ones gone off the tray. And the one I can only make every couple years would be Iced Aunt Sallies. These are thick, soft gingerbread type cookies cut with a Spam can and iced with a thick marshmallowy icing that sets up on the outside so it has a crisp shell and is soft inside. My recipe for this makes WAY too many and I'm the only one who really likes them so I only indulge myself every few years. Then there's the drop sugar cookies my DH goes crazy for. He's usually more of a chocolate chip kinda guy, but when these are in the house they disappear quickly! I usually end up making two batches of these because 1) they disappear so fast and 2) they are fast and easy (especially now that I have two ovens to bake them in so that part goes faster). Enjoy! I have book marked this, I need to get some baking done this year. Didn't do it last year.
I make a powdered sugar cookie that my grandma would make. And I love to try new things. I will see what I can do with some of these ideas.

I don't make them as holiday cookies because I don't celebrate Xmas, but I make mint chocolate cookies - you melt mint chocolate chips into the chocolate batter and then add a mint chcolate piece melted onto the top of the cookie - I get rave reviews!

I love those candy cane shaped cookies...usually a white strip of dough and a red strip are twisted together then you make them into a cane shape. So good but, for me, impossible to make.
We always have a rice crispy bar cookie - rice crispies are coated with melted butterscotch and peanut butter then layered with melted chocolate chips/powdered sugar mix and more rice crispier on top. Not sure what they are called but they are so good!
Must also have gingerbread cookies and Lebkuchen!

Do I have to pick just one?
I love the pb cookies with the kiss in the middle. The chocolate kiss not the peppermint one.
I love a almond flavored cookie with sprinkles or light frosting on it.
I love a triple chocolate chip cookie. A friend of mine makes these with dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate chips. So yummy!!!
I love just a basic sugar cookie with yummy icing.
I love, love, love mini chocolate chip cookies sandwiches with a yummy buttercream in between. A bakery here makes them and calls them adam bombs and I have to say they are the bomb! Like I think my favorite dessert on this planet. I love cookies and frosting so it combines the 2 into just a few yummy, small bites. It is perfection! I have a picture on my instagram if you need a visual. They actually freeze well too.
