DD just asked if she could invite a friend for holiday dinner but then tells me she has celiac! I am already cooking for lactose-free diets. I know to be extra careful in my preparation to prevent cross contamination (I'm making the turkey a day ahead to make sure). What I need now are do's and don'ts and some recipes for a few sides she can eat that won't mean buying a lot of special ingredients just for one person. Anyone have a good recipe?

Wouldn't turkey, mashed potatoes and most vegetables be gluten free? I'm not sure why you need recipes. As for cross contamination, I don't know much about that.

I agree. Sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, plain vegetables. If you want to have a gluten free dessert Betty Crocker gluten free brownies are really good. I ordered Aleia's gluten free stuffing from Amazon. It's expensive, but the best we've found. We've tried a lot of brands.

I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and sampled some gluten-free stuffing which was pretty good.

Not all turkeys are gluten/free. You have to make sur they are not injected with basting fluids. (Butterball)
Keep recipes simple and watch out for seasonings. Some flavored seasonings still include msg. Be sure to use corn starch as a gravy thickener, and to be vigilant about cross contamination. All butter and mayo must be fresh in order to insure a knife with something on it did not contaminate.
It's sweet of you to do this. Good luck!

In order to prevent cross contamination, I would put a little butter from a fresh package or stick into a little bowl just for your guest.
I think you have plenty of items for her to eat as long as you are careful, as you stated, about cross contamination.
You are sweet to care and understand it is a real issue.

I make my regular stuffing recipe (Betty Crocker) but just sub Udi's GF bread. Trader Joe's sells the boxed GF stuffing mix too.
If it was only for one guest, I would purchase some GF gravy from Whole Foods.
For dessert, I would probably just purchase a GF pie or at least a GF pie crust.

Are you guests bringing any food items? I usually just tell people to bring their favorite dish if they ask if they can bring anything. That way, your GF guest has one thing they love and it's one less thing for you to worry about.
I probably would do mashed potatoes for the GF guest. If you add a crumble topping or marshmallow on your sweet potatoes, set some aside in a small dish for the GF guest without those toppings. My pumpkin pie filling is GF, so I'd do the same with the pumpkin mixture in a small ramikin.
I would accommodate your guests dietary needs as much as I could, but I would not make extra dishes or change what you are making too drastically. A Tday meal is enough work on its own.
And I think your guests should nominate you for sainthood!

I checked the ingredients and the bullion I use for the gravy is not gluten free so I will have to make her a separate gravy using cornstarch. I forgot to check the turkey. I forgot she can have the potatoes and the margarine is lactose free/gluten free already. My sister is making a ton of stuffing which is the center of our meal and since she is making a huge amount I won't dare ask her to buy special bread. We have candied sweet potatoes which she can have. i guess other than the stuffing she is ok with our regulars with minor tweaks. I already planned to make her things first, keep them separate and let her be served first. I love the brownie mix idea I know I just saw it at the market. Unfortunately we don't have a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's anywhere nearby. Thanks for the input, I just needed to know I didn't overlook anything! Good grief I hope she likes what I'm making or I will feel just awful. She is so far from home so I want her to enjoy herself.
