why is it that we are all so attached to a message board? 15 years i went to two peas, almost daily...…..How did we all form such a crazy and wild group at the nsbr? We immediately needed another board to congregate…
Its because we are scrapbookers at heart. We like to tell stories, to read stories, share stories…. we may not scrapbook any more, but we still are still scrapbookers at heart… whats your take?

I think having the scrapbooking in common, and us being (mostly all) women, just brought us together!
ETA: I have been lurking alot lately, and not posting much at all. I hope to change that!

I haven't been a scrapbooker for a very long time. Some here have never been scrapbookers. My take is that we are codependently disfuctional. Having a group that more or less celebrates that disfunction is difficult for some of us to give it up. |

It was a great place to expand my thinking and awareness. The diversity and the willingness  of everyone to share ideas and keep each other current and grounded. It is like having a group of friends available 24/7 and not having to figure out a way to schedule them in to your calendar. I was a lurker mostly, too and was actually shocked when I went to check out the boards as I usually do, about the emotional response I experienced. Glad I was able to find the new and improved NSBR! |

I use it as a form of entertainment, a source of information, and a way to pass the time if I am in a situation where I have yo wait.

When I started. it was because I was a scrapper. but as years progressed, I made friends and the NSBR was so vastly different that I could learn, discuss and be entertained. For 14, almost 15 years, I was a part of it. Whether or not I was posting on a daily basis, I certainly read threads and kept up with it.

For me, I was working 2 jobs and maintaining my house by myself. I didn't have much free time to go out and be social, especially during the work week. Reading the boards gave me connections with other adults and it was something I could do at my own pace, whenever it was convenient.
Now I no longer work at all, but I've grown to truly care about so many people on the board. I like to see pictures of everyone's children as they grow up, I like the recipe sharing, and I can still show up at any time of the day or night and someone will most likely be here. And there is always lots to read. It's also educational as far as household products that are out there. I have bought some on the recommendation of the peas and others I have avoided after hearing it was a dud on here. What's not to love about a place like this?

I have been a member of a different message board for almost ten years. It isn't scrapbooking related or really related to anything at all, it's just a general forum with lots of different topics. I keep going back because I have made friends on there, some I've known the entire ten years.
Scrapbooking wasn't really on my radar anymore when I joined Two Peas. My mom was a member and showed me an epic thread and I knew I had to join in to see what it was like. I still like to make cards, though.

For me, it's about connecting. With such a wide variety of people on the board, there's almost always someone that has BTDT. I don't post often, but I lurk every day. I find comfort in the shared experience of such a huge group.

Also, it is really hard for me to make friends "in real life" because of various reasons, so 2Peas was like one big party, and it was ok for me to just sit on the couch at the party and just hang out and eavesdrop on everyone without getting anxious about talking, haha! |

There was a chunk of my life where I felt very alone. NSBR was my lifeline. I had moved to a new area, didn't have any friends, had a very fussy baby. Then dh was deployed and it was even worse. That was the time I needed my online friends. I was very connected to the board, over shared a lot, and I don't know how I would have made it through those years without my online friends.
That was a long time ago. I haven't had time to pea since I went back to work full time and started focusing on my career again. I still hold on though because you all got me through some really tough times.

I always went to 2 peas, NSBR only - to find out the latest and greatest! If I heard something on the news or read something on facebook, I would go to 2peas to see if the peas were reporting it yet!
i've learned a lot over the years and although I didn't post much, I visited every day! I was so sad to read they were closing - felt a total loss of my stranger friends lol I googled "what happened to 2peas" and somehow by following some links, I ended up here!

For me, it was because it was any topic from people all over the world. When I thought it was gone forever, I immediately thought- I never got to ask about which beaches in florida are best? Or what is the review on the new transformers or what is a good drink recipe for the 4th?
Often times, I would google and search Two peas- appetizer recipes? Because I want YOUR opinion!!
and the breaking news was always here first!! Sometimes 4 times on the first page

For me, this board has seen me through a lot of life changes. It's been one of the best decompression chambers I've ever found. Plus, I've learned so much from the Peas. How can one put a value on that?
So, when there was nothing but a sudden void...yeah, I felt that too. Very glad I wasn't the only one. We all can rest assured that we all felt that sudden absence enough to reach out and find each other again. Co-dependance? Probably. Is it a bad thing? I don't think so.

For me, I loved the NSBR board. Oddly, whenever there was an issue in my own life or something I was thinking about - I would get on 2peas and there would be a thread about it. I have read some truly inspiring posts, and love the fact that people from all over can connect based on a hobby they love. So happy I found the post on Instagram for this forum.

I found 2Peas when I was living in Belgium, suffering extreme homesickness. Over the years, it's become such a habit to check in daily, that if I've been off the internet for a few days, I feel anxious to check the boards and see what's new in the pea world.

I hadn't been on two peas regularly in several years, and didn't really lurk, maybe once a month or so I would stop in. I have a group of facebook pea friends that I participate with which I guess is why I didn't go to the boards much anymore. But when I heard it was closing, I really felt a sense of loss and wanted to participate again (even though it's been a total time sucker!). I want to find out what is going on in the lives of all my "stranger friends" and catch up, lol! |

We like to keep memories, whether it be scrapbooking or just being friends online. I didn't participate as much on the other one, I was a bit intimidated. LOL! I do like the people that I have gotten to know, and I have seen other opinions that made me think about my stance on things. I like that. I really would have missed it. Being in different areas of the world just gives so many different views. It is great. |

For me, the mb started off being a place to talk about my hobby with others since I didn't have any one near me that scrapped. It was a fun way to share all my stories, LOs, etc with people who shared the same interest. I made some great connections with people and became friend with many of them. It turned out to be more then I excpected and just is fun! It was always a social outlet while I stayed at home with my kids as well.

This is a big part of the appeal for me. Also I feel like I can be more authentic on here than I can IRL...no worries about putting on a front.

I was just mentioning to DH that the peas are sociologists gold mine for looking at behavior! For me, it is the connection to others and having a place to learn. And be entertained. |

Probably the 'introvert' thing for me. My first thought yesterday was that I'd have more time to do things that were 'important'. Then I began thinking of each of the people I would miss on the board and began wondering where the group would land. As I scanned down the messages I was so happy to see each familiar face/name.

I think I've grown as a person, I have knowledge on so many topics, for instance the other day I told a friend to be careful backing out of her packing spot because I just read a thread where so many peas said parking lots were dangerous and so many accidents happen there. I can give advice on so many things I don't have personal experience with because I can read a thread on x topic and saw that the opinions were mostly Y so that's the advice I give to someone.
