We are in the market for some new Christmas lights this year, and I am having a hard time deciding what I would like to buy. Should we get all clear classic twinkly lights? Should we get some of the fun retro-looking big colourful bulbs? Decisions, decisions.
What do you decorate your exterior with for the holidays? And, do you have any photos to share?

We do white icicle lights. This year we are going to add white and red on our 2 columns up front. No pictures from me, I never think to take pictures outside and it is usually so cold.
I think anything you go with will be beautiful. I think they add a nice cheerful touch in the dreary, dark winter.

We stopped putting lights outside a few years ago. However, I appreciate everyone who does decorate the outside of their house. From elegant to over the top, I love it all.

I'm in a townhouse which has a narrow elevation. I do white icicle lights over the 2 garage doors and then I do multicolor "net style" lighting on the one bush. I put up a wreath on the door, a cute Christmas sign and maybe a poinsettia, and that's the extent of my decorating.
ETA: Most people in my neighborhood pay to have someone put up their lights, so they are usually quite the spectacle. I need to take a pic of the house a couple blocks over from me. It is so beautiful and colorful!

I use the old fashioned color C-9 bulbs.

We use colorful LEDs. I hate white lights. To me they're boring and have no personality.

We have a long white split level, DH puts a red spot light on the left and right and a green one in the middle shining up on the house and red/green lights in the Canadian Hemlock tree off the front porch flower bed. Plus, 6 red, white and green ornament lights in the big maple in our front yard.

I'm in a townhouse and we don't hang lights. I do have candles in the window that are battery powered and go on at 6, off at 12, daily. I have a wreath on the door. We have a wooden bench out front which I decorate with evergreens and red plaid bows.

We got some of the medium sized retro style bulbs. We haven't put them up yet but I'm excited to have the style I actually want! I have never found the flat matte large colorful bulbs until this year. Previously I was only able to find shiny ones with a weird diamond pattern.

I know the style of lights you are talking about and far prefer them, but they are so hard to find!

I use the old fashioned color C-9 bulbs. We use the C-9 colored lights, too. Both DH and prefer the look of colored lights over white, and the LED lights seem to have a blue-ish hue. The C-9 bulbs are perfect.

This is going to be the first year we're not adding lights on the house and out front.
Every year DH would put the multi-color C-9 along the roof line and garage, put green lights on all the bushes, and then put a few white light deer near the bushes/trees.
This year we're just hanging our wreath on the door and putting an uplight on it.
