(either manual or electronic) what are your go to designs? What files or dies do you reach for over and over? If you had to rebuild your collection today what would you buy again?

I have a ZipeMate.
Some of my favorite shapes are:
Nesting circles
Snowflakes
Journal spots
I would love to have a bold, 1.5" alpha & number set
ticket
doily
I will admit that I like thicker shapes because trying to pry a curlicue thin shape from dies is a PIA.

I have a cameo and a big kick.
For the cameo - cursive fonts for welding cursive titles, print and cuts (many times these are digital elements I've brought in), doily shapes or intricate designs, butterflies, labels. I use the cameo for the one-off's (I'll just need this one time).
For the big kick - I try to stay generic with everything I get here so it can be used over and over since it's also taking up valuable real space. Alphabets (you can cut felt or foam with these but may need to also use scissors), hearts, stars, office (labels, tabs), seasonal reuse items like snowflakes, and spellbinders nesting shapes (ovals, rectangles, etc).

I have a Cricut, a Quickutz hand tool and dies, and Epic for larger dies.
I use the Alphalicious cartridge the most, for the Cricut.
I use a simple block die alpha set for the Quickutz all the time. I scored the shadows on the old FSOT board at 2 Peas.

I have a Big Shot and this is pretty much my approach too. I have a ton of alphas, and wouldn't give them up for anything. Then I have a small selection of tags, tickets, arrows, leaves, flowers, gears, feathers, a handful of Christmas items, filmstrip, and nested shapes (labels, hexagons, circles - scalloped and plain, stars, banners) I have a few other shapes but hardly ever use them. Should probably get rid of most of them in fact!

I have a Cameo and I mostly use it for titles. As lisadv said, I use cursive fonts that can be welded. I've found quite a few free shapes and free tutorials so I rarely buy any.

I have a Silhouette and I love using any font that I want. I make a lot of personalized things with vinyl. I use a lot of bases for handmade cards and Disney stuff.

Kind of unusual but I use the Amish buggy and farm wagon dies. I have various times I need those for layouts so I turn to them. I also use fleur de lis

My very thoughtful and generous SO surprised me with a cameo a few weeks back. I've only got a few days left on my free credits and don't want to go on a mad buying spree only to end up with a bunch of things that are cool but will only get used once or twice. And so far this thread has been very enlightening because I never would have picked this would make someone's most used list: Kind of unusual but I use the Amish buggy and farm wagon dies.

Do you scrap, make cards or both? I do both and I use tags a lot, phrases like Happy Birthday, Thank You, Thinking of You, etc., basic shapes like circles and hearts, decorative label shapes. For my manual diecutter, I have the kinds of shapes I might need to cut just one quickly for a card or something as well as the type of shapes I don't want to have to try to pick off of a sticky mat like snowflakes or other things with skinny pieces. For my electronic cutter I usually just make what I need, and I do almost all of my scrapbook titles with it.

For my manual cutter, I love decorative shapes on which I can stamp images or sentiments. I also like layering/nesting shapes. Sentiments are great, too - I have a "happy birthday" that gets a lot of use, and some "Thanks" ones that do, too. I'm working on accumulating more Anna Griffin large flourish dies - I love her stuff!

I've only got a few days left on my free credits and don't want to go on a mad buying spree only to end up with a bunch of things that are cool but will only get used once or twice. Right now - shapes are 50% off If you think you will monogram anything - there are a couple good ones in the Silhouette store. Make sure you are actually getting a monogram font and not a frame or shape. The monogram fonts are usually a little more in cost ($2.99 usually). Rivka Wilkins is the designer that makes them in the Silhouette store. They have a frame, but are easily removed it you want to use it without. You can get script or circle type styles. I don't really buy a lot of fonts there, because there are so many that are free. I do get a few "sketch" fonts, because they work great with pens if you want to do that. They are thin enough that, when using the pen, you don't get a hollow letter - but they are not suitable for cutting. If you like any type of paper craft - look at some boxes and envelopes. Watch your expiration date. Usually your credits expire 30 days from the minute you started it - not at midnight. Some get confused with the "month free" also, and go by calendar day... it is 30 days, so it will probably not expire on the same day of the following month.

And so far this thread has been very enlightening because I never would have picked this would make someone's most used list: Kind of unusual but I use the Amish buggy and farm wagon dies. Don't spend a lot of money on fonts. There are TONS of free fonts on the internet. And plenty of time to buy if you need something specific. Designs are all 50% off right now, and subscriptions are 20% off. I'd recommend the $10 level for your first year. It's enough to get a nice library going. Don't buy circles, squares, or rectangles. You can make those with a click and a drag. Hearts, stars, 3D files, any hobbies you have, etc are good places to start. Also, every Tuesday there is a free design. Grab it, even if you don't think you will use it. You may want it later, or part of it. I recently used a hat from a snowman on a steampunk card. You can ungroup most designs, which allows you to use the elements individually or to add in your own touch.

Butterflies, flowers, bows and tags/labels are my go-tos for both the Cricut and the BigShot. I've never bought a font because there are so many free ones out there.

My favorites for my Big Shot are fishtail banners, stitched banners, tags, Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches, other smaller than A2 decorative edge rectangles, words like Happy Birthday, Thanks, Hello and You, MFT's Lucky Stars, stitched stars, frames, snowflakes, grass, hills, MFT's Layered Leaves and any die that matches a stamp set.
It's an obsession, I tell ya!

I scrap lots of historical sites, living history, reenactments, larp pictures and I also live in Lancaster County so I often take photos of the local scenery. I can use the horse from the buggy and the farm wagon works for all kinds of time periods, even hayride.
