Hi all!
I have had such a tough year that I was thinking of gifting myself with a Silhoutte cameo...if I can find a cyber Monday deal! I'm not very tech savy, so I was wondering what your thoughts are on the ease of using it, etc Do you totally love it? Thanks and hope you all are having a great weekend!

Hmmmmmm. I am on a self imposed spending freeze but I forgot about getting a Christmas present for myself. I am now alone and have fewer people to buy for since I moved. I will have to watch this thread.

I got one on Thursday, and I find it very easy to use. I have the original model so I'm already familiar with how it works, but the set up for the new one was much easier. I love it!

I think it's pretty easy. I recommend watching some YouTube videos or taking a class online to get familiar with it quickly, too.
I adore mine!!! It gets used so much here. From preschool crafts to scrapping to home decor... It's a workhorse and cuts so beautifully.

I just spent the evening with mine. I sometimes take long than I should to learn technology and mine was very easy to learn. That was back in 2012. I took a few classes at the LSS and actually learned a lot of stuff just from watching YouTube. Buy it!

I got the Amazon deal -- but noticed tonight at JoAnn's that they also have a very good price on the Cameo currently -- $199.00. As far as ease of use -- don't know, but I'll be finding out!

I love mine and I love the software. I will say now that it is quite easy and does a lot - but those first few days... It was a total mystery! So don't get overwhelmed with it when you first unbox it. I do recommend watching a few videos etc. You can download and play with the software now. I recommend this. The disk that comes with it will be outdated -so go ahead and get the most current from the website now. Take advantage of the free shape of the week to download. Right now they have a free shape every day (I am not sure how long that will be going on - maybe only a couple more days).. As long as you download it the day it is free - it is free and yours too keep. There are some great beginner Facebook groups and don't hesitate to ask a question here too. Here is the software download page: You want Silhouette Studio Basic for your operating system. www.silhouetteamerica.com/software/silhouette-studioAnd - Silhouette for Beginners facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/SilhouetteNewbies/?ref=bookmarks

I love mine and I'm not all that good with technology. As others have said, watch youtube videos and read the help manual (it is in the software). Just make sure to watch beginner videos. There are lots of things you can do with the software and machine but I pretty much stick to the basics and I use my machine a ton.
As far as sales go check Michael's, Silhouette America web site, Amazon, etc. I know there is a sale on subscriptions at the Silhouette America online store and I'm pretty sure the machines are on sale too.

Kerri Bradford has some really good Silhouette classes. I learnt a lot from them and highly recommend her classes.
Silhouette School Blog and YouTube are good too.

It was amazing because it included two mats, sketch pens, etc. I bought mine a couple weeks of years ago when someone posted a similar deal on 2Peas and I was paying it forward. It is hands-down the best craft purchase I've ever made. Not even close. I use it to make t-shirts and cards regularly.

There is a small learning curve with the software, but it's not bad. There are plenty of YouTube videos that are very helpful.
It's one of my favorite purchases of all times!

I love mine. I've had it for several years. I think it's quite easy to use. As another pea said, check out Kerri Bradford. Her classes are on sale right now. It's so worth the money just in the designs she gives you. I've taken all the classes and don't regret it for a moment. Honestly, I use my silhouette on every page I do anymore.
I'm. Asking some mini albums as gifts and I measured all the mats and pages I would need, created it in the software and then slammed paper through that thing during a weekend crop and got 11 mini albums made in no time. I e been branching out into the vinyl and heat transfers lately. I need to try out the rhinestone and fabric cutting next!

I have two, so I'm certainly not going to discourage you.
The only thing I would say is not to waste your time with Silhouette or Cricut vinyl. Go to Amazon or another vinyl site (my favorites are API and Vinyl Spectrum) and order Oracal 651 (for permanent) or Oracal 631 (for non-permanent/wall vinyl). Craft store vinyl will make you cry it's so shitty to work with.

I also use the clear release tape from Amazon--so much easier and cheaper to use then the masking tape stuff Cricut or Silhouette sells.

I love, love, love my Cameo. I've really gotten into using the printable vinyl to make stickers for my planner/journal. I've learned how to make any cut a print 'n cut and use it ALL the time. I'm constantly making Tshirts or decorating Tervis tumblers for teacher gifts. I use the heck out of that thing. There's a sale going on in the shape store, everything is half price and subscriptions are also on sale until 12/4. Definitely stock up while you can!
